You go to the Inn. There's Pit at the counter checking in for a room. Blueberry Burt is giving him a key.
There's 3 fairies in a corner, they all look different. One of them is a floating white ball with wings, the other two are more humanoid, but ine if them has a banana on her head.
There's a cloaked figure sitting on a bench.

We don't have any weapon shops so you wouldn't have any competition. There's a vacant shop already built you can run for free too.

There's a giant chicken shooting grey lasers at people from it's eye (google "Aria of Sorrow cockatrice if you want a picture).
The lasers are turning people to stone.
Pit: "Is this one of Medusa's minions?"

Take out a Lengthy Cutscene and a Polite Command and Ness. Trigger a cutscene with the Cockatrice and give it a Polite Command to stop attacking people. Ness will read its mind afterwards, because Ness can read the minds of animals.

(Cockatrice: "TURN EVERYTHING TO STONE! TURN EVERYTHING TO STONE! TURN EVERYTHING TO STONE...)
You trap the Cockatrice in a lenghty cutscene. People start running away from it in a more cinematic way and words appear, introducing the creature. A voice can be heard, describing the creature with way too much details. The Cockatrice is unable to move as long as the voice is talking.
Three harpies are flying out of the bird shop.
You equip the Carbuncle stone.
