You walk into town and find everyone fighting a bunch of Mini Marios. Bloopington follows behind.
Bloopington: GREAT BLOOPITY BLOPITY! This is quite the mess, isn't it? So what do you suggest we do?
Mario is trapped in a cage with Merlon and Tayce T. There's an item shop with some fighting going down in it and there's an inn also with fighting going on inside. There's a house here as well. It looks like nobody has gone inside. You can also go to the left or right side of town from here.

(I figured you knew already, but since this is the prologue, I'm getting most of the tutorial stuff down now.)
Bandoo tosses a javelin at the same Mini Mario, taking it out. The last Mini Mario hits Bandoo with his hammer, but the damage is reverted from Bandoo's badge.

You poke the Mini Mario in the mustache and it seems to be super effective! The Mini Mario is taken down in one hit. You grab the Tasty Tonic it dropped. That clears the item shop from Mini Marios. The shopkeeper is still tied up though.

Toad: Huh? Where I get my items? Well I usually just order them. But you can find them all over the place if you look hard enough. Going north from here will bring you to Poison Plant Jungle. I hear there are some items that can be found there...

You head off toward the empty house with Mystic. It seems that the front door is locked. A timid voice can be heard on the other side.
??: W-Who's there...? Go away...I'm not seeing visitors right now. Th-Those monsters are making a m-mess of everything...

Bandoo unties the shopkeeper and goes north.

You cut the ropes around the shopkeeper and head outside. Looks like you can't go north here. The exit to the town must be in a different part. Either to the left or to the right. Oh, and Mini Marios are still running around all over the place.

You enter the inn and see Swor.T fighting a bunch of Mini Marios. The innkeeper is hiding behind the counter from the fighting. You can hear crashing around upstairs as well, where the rooms are.
