C sounds like a good middle ground. If we can help it we'll see to it that he isn't forced to fight, but if it's ever out of our control we'll do everything we can to protect him.

Shinji's Hospital Room, NERVInstead of answering directly, Logan carefully wrapped his arm around the younger guy's neck and shoulders. He felt so bad for this young man, so in need of guidance and help. However, the one thing he was asking for was something he could not promise, so instead he did the best he could: deflection. “I'll keep you safe, no matter what,” whispered Logan in the silence of the sterile room. He had no clue if NERV was recording everything that went on, but it did not matter. He had to do something right by the small youth he was holding, but that probably could not come in the form of ending the Eva project. The poor piloting that he had previously thought of as “forgivable” and “a work in progress” suddenly seemed like it would have the potential to get Shinji killed, or at the very least maimed. Hell, he already had been, even though Logan couldn't tell from the bandages if it was a physical injury or a mental one. Taking a moment to mull the response over, Shinji flatly spoke, “Safe, but not out of her.” Despite blushing (presumably from the physical closeness), he stared at the exterior window across from him. The rain had started once again, having been shifting on and off as the weather system moved through Tokyo-3. Logan was going to admit to what Shinji had said being true, since he wasn't keen on outright lying instead of omitting information. He didn't have a chance, as Shinji continued after a pause. “That may be better than what everyone else is offering me. Thank you.” This made the older man feel quite guilty, despite that most likely not being the intention of the kid. He'd thought of himself as generally better than the NERV employees, who all expected Shinji to get inside his robot and kill monsters. Maybe that wasn't true, though – Logan realized he seemed to have the exact same expectation of the high schooler. He decided to go through with honesty, admitting that “You may have to ride Eva again. But I will help you get better at piloting her. When we're through, you'll be good enough that you can even beat the Lizard, or any other nasty things that show up from other worlds.” He had taken to piloting fairly well, and could surely help his friend learn some things that were applicable, even with the difference in cockpit systems. Shinji frowned up at his ally, sharing his concern. “Do we know anything about that? It seems like we're getting more enemies than we are friends. How many different ways are there to make a giant monster?” asked the schoolboy, touching upon an issue Logan had been thinking a bit about as well. His hair as grey as ever, the old man broke the side-hug he had allowed to linger perhaps a little too long. He smiled at the teen, having some information to deliver that might help ease his thoughts a little bit. “This new outburst wasn't all bad. We have some new friends, they briefed me on them after the battle. Turns out, the Third Eruption brought in slices of land all over the islands of Japan. It's kind of a haphazard shuffle, but overall the population's taking it okay.” Smiling back and happy to be distracted from thoughts of the battle, Shinji chuckled. He said, “I don't think mass hysteria and outrage are in the cultural 'DNA' of modern Japanese. We'll find a way to pretend it isn't a problem. It would be nice to hear about friends, though.” “Oh, buddy. 'We hit the jackpot!'” said Logan, the second sentence in untranslated English. “Yeah, Japan seems to be having bad monster problems, but our new neighbors are already on the job. Their version of Earth is protected by the EDF – the 'Earth Defense Force'! They're a high tech faction formed to pool all their world's best weapons into the effort to protect against giant monsters that they call 'Kaiju'. Now, that probably does mean that there will be some more new monsters besides the God Lizard.” Shinji cringed at the mention of that being, reminded of how the battle had ended. Logan quickly brushed over that gaffe, saying “It's okay, they're pretty good at what they do. In fact, they were able to steer the enemy out to sea, preventing damage to most of Japan. Only a huge pagoda was destroyed, since it veered off its path to break it.” Shinji wondered aloud, “Do they have mecha like we do?” A fair question, but Logan had to disconfirm this. “So far, from what I've seen, the EDF are more likely to use flying ships, science based weapons, and conventional weaponry if they're desperate enough. They rarely fight the Kaiju in direct combat, but they can still be huge help protecting this country.” He shot a thumbs up at his friend, clearly excited to have some cool new additional allies. And of course, hoping these ones would not run out on him. Shinji looked extremely relieved at this revelation, and as he leaned back a little more comfortably it seemed as if he was torn on a particular issue. Barely above a whisper, the young Ikari confided, “There's more that you need to know. When... 'it' happened, I didn't see a thing. I don't remember anything that went on after shouting at you. Not anything at all. It went crazy, didn't it?” The kid nearly spat the last sentence out, his words dripping with resentment. There was no use lying here – Logan nodded wordlessly. He knew this was a subject that would have to be tread on lightly. Shinji, however, was already upset. “This was not the first time it happened. Logan... I need to tell you about Rei Ayanami.” Shinji was coming across as someone who was haunted by the things he'd seen, and this was confirmed when he kept talking before the Ambassador could even ask something like 'who is Rei'. “When I first got to NERV after you kept the path clear for me that first day, they were desperate. I am the Third Child, meaning I can pilot an Eva. But there are also the First and Second Childs, both of whom do the same. My father, that bastard, was trying to safely get a girl with blue hair into the entry plug I eventually accepted entering. Logan, she was my age, and she was soaked with blood. Her body, limbs and even most of her face looked like they were wrapped up in bandages, or covered with stitches to seal the skin up. I didn't understand it then, but I eventually asked what had happened.” “And what had happened?” asked the diplomat, glad that the cute kid was sharing info with him. “Her Evangelion did that to her. It went crazy in its test chamber, and NERV was barely able to get it under control. That was when I realized the danger, and how badly my father and his people would go to achieve their goals. They'll even get kids like me maimed or broken into pieces.” Shinji looked glum discussing this subject, and his senior knew the conversation would have to be steered in a more positive direction. “Right now, you don't have to do anything that would get you destroyed. If we're lucky, there will be another nice wait before the next Angel, and even then the EDF will be able to help. I don't know how serious her wounds were, but maybe 'Rei' will be able to pilot Eva 01 instead of you, at least for now.” Logan sincerely hoped that they'd find better options, but feared it would take a while. “Actually, her Evangelion is number 00.” The young pilot corrected. “So there are more Evas out there... Giant creatures, clad in armor and piloted by the young...” Logan trailed off, not really wanting to address the horror inherent to the scenario, and instead explained something to the teen. “Shinji, between the Earth Defense Force and whatever else NERV has cooked up, the city will be in good hands. That's why I said what I did, and I meant it. We're getting you out of here – the further away from NERV HQ and Eva you are, the stronger position you'll be in to renegotiate your contract.” Shinji's eyes widened. “How far are we going?” “Really far. Say goodbye to Japan, because-” Logan was cut off by his phone, which made a distinct chirpy tone. It was his United Arms liason application, and it looked like they had sent him something coolish. Briefly excusing himself with the 'one minute' gesture, Logan used his index finger to flip through a pair of designs that seemed promising as hell. They were both mecha-sized weapons, which would fit on the Wonderchild easily. One looked to be a large bracelet-looking device equipped on his mecha's left wrist that would float around it, not making contact but remaining in place with a simple magnetic field trip. The bracelet would be capable of firing a focusable stream of energy similar to the Triad Cannons but much closer range and possessing of its own battery. The upshot was that he could target things that might have good resistance to the cutting and stabbing of his beam saber. It was fairly cool, but so was the other option. This would allow him to use his mecha's legs as upside down PEZ dispensers to launch explosive mines to be placed in opportune spots. This could lead to some incredible tactical opportunities, but he would have to be careful to use them in battles containing allies. The problem was that it seemed like the United Arms was offering this as an Either-Or opportunity. He presumed they didn't want the Wonderchild overloaded with weapons in the name of speed and efficiency. Resolving to select a new weapon for his loadout later, Logan returned to what he was saying. “Shinji, kiss Japan goodbye.” Choice Time!>”We're going to California. We'll meet up with the Power Rangers and they'll protect you from any blowback from NERV while we regnegotiate. There is no place on Earth safer than with Superheroes.”
>”We're going to Korea. A while ago we spoke about the United Arms nations, and this is your chance to visit one.” Second Choice Time!>Logan chose the energy bracelet for the W-E's loadout.
>Logan chose the explosive landmine upgrade for the W-E's loadout. Holy shit, HUGE choice here. Possibly the biggest yet, since depending on which you pick, the next piece of the story could be entirely different.

Episode 5: Farewell, Tokyo-3
Opening theme:
“'Nahh', this will be great,” said Logan, drawing out the 'nahhh' and grinning like a goon at the young man sitting next to him. It had been a few days since everything had happened, what with the monsters and the horror and the insane Evangelion and the desertion. Despite everything, Logan was feeling pretty damn good. Even though neither him nor his new traveling companion were fat (Logan was a little chubby, but not much), he'd booked the extra third seat in the middle row of the plane so that they could splay out and be super relaxed instead of having to deal with some random third wheel passenger. It was actually really nice, even though he wasn't able to swing some kind of super swag United Arms transportation. Maybe if he'd decided to drag his teenager to Korea or Great Britain or Brazil or something that would be different, but a civilian passenger plane would do just fine. They weren't going into an active warzone, just California, and no airline sent their jets over Mount Katsuragi, so that wasn't likely to present a problem of any kind. It was still the safest way to travel!
Shinji, for his part, had been fidgeting ever since he got into his seat. He had the air of someone who had never really done a whole lot of disobeying, and he was actually looking over his shoulder and around the plane's cabin. It was a pretty plain chamber, with the only real color provided by the rug running down the middle lane, the seats themselves (not terribly comfortable, incidentally), and the outfits of the attendants. Of course, some of the other passengers (who mostly seemed to be Japanese tourists and some business-looking types in suits) had color on them, but that doesn't really count. “No, it won't. You'll get in trouble for leaving Japan, and I'll get in trouble for leaving NERV. It's an obvious outcome.” The kid was miserable about this, despite it being his chance to visit not only the United States, but the United States of a brand new world!
The Ambassador rolled his eyes. It wasn't like he was never allowed to separate himself from the W-E. He'd spoken to Adam about it, and it was agreed that the human could handle himself. Well, it hadn't gone quite as smoothly as that sounds, but the interface had come around. He always did – truly Adam was a loyal computer despite lacking actual intelligence or sentience. For this reason and the fact that he wasn't receiving stern messages despite using UA funds on the tickets, the diplomat assumed he would not personally be getting in trouble for this little adventure. Shinji, on the other hand, was likely to be fucked six ways from Sunday if the negotiations didn't go well. Those people were already treating the kid poorly, and it would be hella worse if this diplomacy attempt didn't work. Actually, it was hardly diplomacy. He had kind of stolen NERV's pilot and was planning to use him to blackmail them. It was on the younger Ikari's behalf, though, so he figured it was all good even though he wasn't exactly giving enthusiastic consent. Logan wasn't too bad at rationalizing things, it turned out.
Suddenly, a few chimes played and a voice came over the loudspeaker. “Good afternoon, this is your Captain speaking. We're about to take off, so we do ask that you set all devices to Airplane Mode or turn them off. Our flight to AGX will be quite long, so please relax and enjoy our amenities. Thank you.” The voice, which spoke Japanese as you'd expect, was a fairly melodic female one. Logan felt pretty damn good about that, imagining his flight's pilot being a very cute androgynous Japanese lady, and he got a little distracted in daydreams. The fact that his younger friend kept acting guilty didn't phase him – he assumed it would not be long before he engaged in the joy of discovery and traveling to a brand new country from another world.
After all, it wasn't like Shinji was some Tokyo-3 born and raised clown who never left the city he was born in. He'd only been in town since the day Sachiel attacked, and that was even less time than Logan had spent there. Thinking about what had happened since, the white boy realized another reason why his roomie would be upset – their other partner in living was conspicuously absent. He asked, “Do you think we should have told Misato where we were going?”
The high schooler stopped looking over his shoulder, and stared with a deadpan expression. “Yes. Absolutely.” He acted as if this was just a basic obvious fact and not a superbly difficult conclusion to make.
True to the captain's word, the plane had begun moving, and was building up momentum to take to the skies with. Gray didn't miss a beat, responding quickly, “I don't. Shinji, she may be our friend, but Misato is also Captain Katsuragi to us. She works for NERV, and she's done it for much longer than you have. Think about it: how long have we even known her?” Logan tapped his temple with one finger, as if he was making a huge revelation.
Shinji frowned, clearly thinking of the purplehead in an extremely positive light despite this concern. “I really like her, even though she drinks too much. I thought we were all getting really close, living under the same roof with PenPen as our pet.” 2 young guys, an older woman and a fresh water penguin – it really was a cute little setup in that Japanese-style apartment. The thin paneling of the walls made it tough to get privacy, but it was still a pretty cozy life.
“We are getting close,” said Logan, despite the fact that she had been doing her best to keep them at arms length by dressing all sexy at home and constantly flirting. Somehow, the younger boys always found themselves at a disadvantage when she started playing that game. Neither of them were very used to that sort of attention, so she ended up 'winning' situations that would otherwise have not proven the slightest bit competitive. “I just wanted us to be in as strong of a position as we possibly could be, without compromising ourselves by bringing another member of the group that's forcing you to ride Eva.”
Shinji nodded, clearly convinced by that point. “I'm sorry I'm such a problem. It's just scary, each and every time I go into the LCL. You're so lucky that you don't have to feel what the Wonderchild feels.” The youth looked desperately envious of this fact. At least they were now in full-on flight, heading towards the Pacific Ocean which they'd be flying over.
Looking on the bright side, the United Arms dude shrugged. “I don't know about lucky. I would love to have an incredible control system that gets more effective and makes my machine more powerful the more fully I get into sync with it. That's some real superhero material, 'Purple Ranger'.” Logan had playfully been calling Ikari that the past few days, as a reference to what King Sphinx had yelled at them before leaving. He thought to himself, “It would be so nice if King Sphinx didn't come here and destroy our plane while we're in transit. Does the Repulsa Gang have a way of tracking commercial flights?”
That was a good question, really. But the diplomat knew a better one, too: what exactly was he going to do when he got to Angel Grove? According to Kimberly, that was where the Power Rangers all lived, but to actually find them he would more than likely have to contact her. This was super awkward, as they had not texted even once in the handful of days Shinji had spent recovering from his injuries. Not that those were even 100% healed, but they were a lot better off than Logan's friendship with the Ranger. He had to think of what he was going to do on that front, since he kind of needed that superhero team's help to make his choice of California worthwhile.
Anyway, it seemed like they were going to be in the air for a very long, uninterrupted flight.
Choice Time!
>Logan decided to be boring and mature, and just sit in his seat and entertain himself in normal airplane ways.
>Logan decided to have some fun, making the trip a little more lively and way less boring.
Second Choice Time!
>Logan realized that he had nothing to fear from the Pink Ranger. Rather, she owed him an explanation, and a hell of a lot more. He decided to take a somewhat stern tack with the younger girl, to emphasize how disappointed he was in what happened. She was a hero, after all, and if she felt bad about the situation that could be used as an advantage.
>Logan decided to play softball. He would go in offering complete forgiveness, with the hopes that she would be glad to get off the hook and be more keen to chat with him and help him out.
>Logan chose to pretend that absolutely nothing had happened. That could work, right?

Mid-Air, Traveling to Angel Grove International Airport via Civilian Airline (A Couple Hours Into the Flight)
Logan had his hands wrapped around the gorgeous pilot's slim waist. Both were wearing their uniforms, and she was straddling him as he sat in the plane's captain seat. She had his shirt open and was kissing him all over his chest, her lips as soft as her super short hair. It was a luxurious experience, but something was wrong. Suddenly Logan shouted, “Wait, if you're making out with me, who's flying the plane?!”
The vessel suddenly started dropping out of the sky, going into a nosedive and the UA Ambassador started screaming his head off! “AHHHHHHHHH!”
Logan woke up with a jolt, yelling much the same as he had been. He was in his seat, being stared at by his fellow passengers. It took a moment for him to realize exactly what was going on, but he was quickly embarassed as he realized that he'd fallen asleep and had been having a stupid dream. Young Shinji turned to his senior with a look of heartbroken compassion. He asked, “'Buddy', are you okay? You were dreaming about the lizard, weren't you? I have been too...” The sensitive teen placed his hand on his fellow mech pilot's shoulders, and Logan was even more embarassed.
Trying to recompose himself, the grayhead posed a question he knew he was going to have to address sooner or later. “I... No, it was something else. But since I'm awake, I kind of want to ask you about the lizard. Is it too soon or can we talk about the fight? I know your experience was worse than mine.” He didn't want to force the issue, but if Shinji couldn't even talk about the fights, this was a lot more traumatic to the kid than he thought.
Fortunately, he could. “You talked to the EDF, right? Do they know anything about it since it was from their Earth?” The high schooler did not look happy to be discussing the subject, but he was at least willing to.
“Yes, the EDF is familiar with the giant black monster. They call it Godzilla, or Gojira.” Logan spoke quietly so people nearby would not be privy. “The reason it came from the water is because we were right – he's amphibious. And yes, it is a he.”
“I didn't notice. I was too busy having my AT Field broken and 01's chest ripped up.” Well, that was hard to deny.
“Gojira has been responsible for more than one serious rampage on their planet Earth, leaving parts of Tokyo and Kyoto in ruins. He's the byproduct of nuclear energy having mutated a prehistoric reptile, so he's kind of the ultimate creature. Human technological ingenuity and the genes of a giant apex predator, combined into an invincible killing machine!” Logan's eyes actually lit up as he spoke. Yes, he actually found Godzilla cool, despite the fact that he had kicked all three of their asses. Well, the showdown with the enraged 01 wasn't as much of a beatdown, but it was already damaged by the time it even started raging.
Shinji grimaced and said, “Please don't smile about awful things. Gojira scares me horribly, and I bet it scared the Pink Power Ranger as well. I don't blame her at all for running.”
“Neither do I,” agreed Logan, and he decided to share some info that he'd gotten over the phone from the Earth Defense Force active in Japan. “Her Dinozord wasn't just hit with any old attack – that was Gojira's Atomic Breath. It's his signature death ray, and so far your Eva and Pink's Zord are the only two things to survive contact with it.” Yeah, that was the ticket. Build Shinji up. Technically, that creature had not actually tanked the Atomic Breath, it blocked it using the barrier. Mostly.
Seeming glad to have survived, the Japanese youth nodded for a moment before freaking out in his seat. “Wait, Atomic Breath?! Are you saying I got nuked in that fight?!” He grasped his chest with both hands, horrified at the possibility.
“Keep your voice down, we don't want to be made. Not everyone loves the UA, and I doubt everyone loves NERV either.” The older guy's voice was cool in tone, and he didn't want to draw any more attention to them than necessary. “No, you were not nuked. Atomic refers to the way the beam is generated, not the content of the laser itself. Wait, laser? Blast? I'm not even sure the actual composition of it. As far as I know, while Gojira is nuclear powered, his attacks don't leave radiation in their wake. You're clean.”
Ikari the younger breathed deeply, obviously relieved that things had not gone how he feared. “Logan, let's not fight Gojira again. He is from the EDF's world, and they should handle him instead of us.”
“We'll see.”
The Same Plane (A Couple More Hours In)
“Welp, that's that.” Logan took the last bite of the fish he'd been served a short while ago. It was quite dry, which prevented it from qualifying among the better fish he had eaten in his life. Quite a shame, since this guy loved fish and the wonderful flavours associated. At least they served him some melon soda, so he was pretty happy regardless. The thing is that it was around that time when he spotted something: a child across the aisle from Logan was looking at him! “Hi, kid,” said the diplomat.
“Hi, Logan!” The little girl across the aisle said, waving. It was definitely not someone who could be accounted for, rather just a regular looking little Japanese girl in basic touristy clothes. Out of all the people likely to spot him in his white jeans and t shirt civvie look, this wasn't exactly what he was expecting.
The mecha pilot raised his index finger to his lips, and the girl nodded and pretended to zip her lips. She understood the message being sent, so Logan decided it was safe to talk to her a little. “Did we meet before?” he asked, sincerely curious if this was someone's kid that he had encountered and forgotten about.
“I saw you with the Pink Ranger!” she said in her native tongue, before gushing over the superhero quietly. “She's so cool and fast! Her Zord can fly! You just have an Action Frame.” Nonetheless, she unbuckled herself and jumped across the aisle into the empty seat the Ambassador had purchased. The little one pulled her own cell phone out of her pocket and browsed to her photo gallery. “Here, look what I got that night!”
Staring down at the screen, Logan saw a very high resolution shot of his semi-estranged friend. It was nighttime, based on the lighting, and it seemed to have been taken the first night they'd met. The American hero was posing a little bit like a cheerleader, holding the same kid that was on the plane up. She was standing on the Pink Ranger's gloved hand, one foot in the air. Clearly lifting a child one-handed required almost no effort for the teen hero, and it looked like the two were having fun taking the picture. Then, Logan realized something – he was in the shot too! “Hey, there's me!” He said, pointing to the background of the pic. He was with Commissioner Matsumoto, and an absolutely miserable Shinji Ikari had also photobombed accidentally. It would be nice to show him, but that guy was asleep.
“You're going to see her, aren't you?” said the child, beaming.
Logan smiled back, confirming, “Yes, we need her help. The Pink Ranger is going to help protect my friend.” He hoped she would, rather. Not saying that out loud, he pointed at the slender youth snoring the flight away.
“Please tell her Kumiko said to come back and have fun in Tokyo-3 again! I'm going to search for her too, but Angel Grove is big.” She grinned at the adult, showing off her lack of front teeth and overall typical little kid cuteness.
“Yes, we'll both have to be on the look out for the Power Rangers.” Logan almost allowed the conversation to lapse, but then he realized that he could have the kind of fun he'd wanted to have on a plane ever since he was a kid. “Hey, Kumiko. You like robot heroes, right? How about a special mission?”
The girl's face lit up as she stared wide-eyedly up at Logan. “Yes! Yes! For me? What is the mission?” She actually started bouncing up and down in the seat out of joy.
“This is very important: I need you to go all around the plane, up and down both aisles, and make sure there aren't any secret villains lurking about. If you spot anyone that looks suspicious, you have to shake them down! Lay down the law and yell for help if they start acting weird. And if it looks like you're going to get in trouble, say they tried to grab you.” Logan almost couldn't help snickering. Despite being a grown adult, he found screwing with random people to be a funny process.
There was a zero percent chance this plan would have negative consequences, and clearly the girl agreed because she nodded and bolted out of her chair without a word. That was easy. Easier than the social situation he was up against. “Now then,” said the pilot to himself. “Time to start thinking about what exactly I'm gonna say.” He started looking at his phone, despite not being able to send a message whilst midair.
A Few Hours Later
Shinji rubbed his eyes upon awakening. They were still in the air with no signs of landing soon, but he was running out of sleeping ability. He was one of the tremendously lucky people who could force themselves to sleep when necessary, but even that had its limits. He turned to Logan, who was messing around with an app on his phone. “I admit it: I'm getting a little bit excited.” said the usually morose teen with a mounting smile. That was a much better look for him.
This happened to make the older guy quite happy, incidentally. He glanced back and decided to bust the teen's chops. “Did you have a dream about confessing to the Pink Ranger?” He hadn't forgotten about the question the younger guy had asked him a while back when they were hanging out in his room.
He blushed, but admitted he had been caught. “Actually, yes.” He corrected himself, saying, “I mean, yes I did but that's not why. I always liked the idea of having a foreign girlfriend, and since we're pilots we have something in common.” Thinking about it further, Shinji also stated, “It also feels good to be away from Tokyo-3. Leaving fighting behind, and coming to a land of peace. Angel Grove must be better than attacks by Angels, at least.”
“We're going to have a great time in California, too. We'll take some time off to see the sights – it'll be like a vacation!” Logan was really glad his roommate was coming around to the idea of this little excursion, and he was even gladder that his plan seemed to have worked. A very annoyed looking older man in a business suit was yelling loudly enough to be heard a decent few rows away. Logan stood up out of his seat to see what was going on, and it seemed that he was absolutely fuming, and being pointed at by little Kumiko! “Oh shit!” he said, grinning like a goon and watching the unfolding scene closely. He motioned for Shinji to come watch, which he reluctantly did despite their conversation being interrupted.
The guy seemed to be on his laptop, trying to get work done. That seemed to be very difficult, as the small girl had her hands on her hips and was outright accusing this guy of being suspicious! She wasn't yelling like he had been, rather it seemed like she was in control of the situation. “No, what's the Bioland project? Is it a secret bio -weapon-?” Kumiko asked, getting all the way up in his face. “The world only needs mechanical weapons, so if you've got a secret then spill it!”
The businessman looked horrified, and also very pissed. He spat out, “Weapons? What kind of anime have you been watching? Get the hell out of here!” Not only did the kid refuse to do so, she actually tried wrestling the laptop computer away from the grown man! It was quite a scene, since despite him having the advantage in size, the small one absolutely refused to let go, and prying her hands off it was a non-starter. Logan flat out cracked up at what he had wrought, but Shinji just rolled his eyes and sat back down.
Finally feeling a bit of compassion for the victim of his prank, Logan took a few steps and stood next to Kumiko. He addressed the pair of them, asking “What's going on here?”
The small traveler answered excitedly, “I found a bad guy! This mister was looking at weird stuff on his computer called the Bioland Project! I asked what it was and he wouldn't say!” She crossed her arms over her chest, satisfied.
“Is this true?” Logan asked simply.
The passenger was taken aback, and continued blowing his top. “Yes! No! It is true, but this child is a fool! I work for a large bioengineering firm, and I was just doing work on my project!” He looked flat out offended, explaining, “It isn't Bioland anything, the Biollante project is meant to create hardy plants that can thrive in arid deserts! It's a benefit to mankind!” This guy finally showed what was onscreen – mostly text and flowery plants.
Deciding that the situation checked out, Logan shot a thumbs up at Kumiko and spoke to them. “This seems fair. Like he said, I think Biollante may be a benefit to mankind. You did well, though – your eye is great!” He placed his hand on the small of her back, and guided her back to her seat. The middle-aged guy looked relieved as hell.
“Best of all, nobody got in trouble,” thought Logan, glad that he'd decided to do something a little silly. Between watching the girl sneak around the plane annoying people, and it all coming to a loud and angry conclusion, it had all worked out and nobody seemed to have made him. Well, except the kid, but she was no threat. Logan was pretty sure she was just a superhero fan.
Outside Angel Grove International Airport
Standing outside of the very high-tech and beautiful airport principally composed of shining steel and glass, Logan and Shinji finally had a chance to stretch. It had been a very long flight, and they had arrived in California in the early evening. The sun was setting on the horizon, and they could see plenty of additional gorgeous buildings in the near and far distance. Clearly, Angel Grove was not only a city of incredible eco-friendliness but also modern, stylized architecture. Instead of boring blocky skyscrapers, Angel Grove was full of sharp, angled towers as well as smaller, less eccentric looking locations. Stone was a common building material for the latter, giving the entire place a mixed and wonderful eclectic look. As for greenery, it was everywhere – the city was lush and rich with plant life, from basic palm trees lining the streets all the way to more exotic flowers and bushes.
“Wow...” was all Shinji said, amazed at the general beauty of the city they'd arrived at. Presumably he had been expecting a less nice location for the same reason Logan originally had – the name. Angel wasn't something either of the pilots could hear without thinking of giant monsters. Logan didn't say anything. He stared at his phone, hoping that he had come up with the right words to make things right with his American acquaintance.
He'd decided to stick with a simple and to the point message. “Hey Kim, I know I should have messaged you earlier. No one knows how to keep you safe better than you do, and I don't want things to be awkward after what happened. I'm in Angel Grove right now, can we meet? I admit, I may need help from the team.”
The answer was quick and pleasant. “Hell yeah! Are you alone? If you are we'll come meet you in street clothes and I'll introduce you to the gang!”
Choice Time!
>”Sadly, no. I'm with Shinji. I guess you'll come dressed up." Obviously, their identities were at least moderately secret.
>”Yes, I am alone.” Shinji would have to head to their hotel, at least at first. Logan would meet the unmasked rangers alone.
>”Yes, I am alone.” Logan was lying, and would ambush them with his Japanese friend's presence.
>”Actually, I'm not alone, but my friend would really like to meet you guys. It's Shinji, actually! You met him in Japan.” Logan had decided: he was going to try and ship Shinji Ikari with Kimberly Hart since he found the idea of it cute.

Angel Grove, Bus Stop (A Short While Later)
Luggage in tow, the two travelers stepped out of the bus they were taking to meet their welcome party. It was obvious to them that the beautiful city had equally beautiful public transportation. The bus line seemed clean, comfortable, and didn't even reek of gasoline like some of the buses they had been familiar with. Overall, it was clear that the city of Angel Grove wanted to incentivize public transportation and not personal transportation. The sun had fallen over the horizon while they rode, and the entire city had begun to glow with a moderate amount of light. It was a warm and comforting glow, the hallmark of a populace that had no desire to use more power than they needed to. Logan was loving every minute of the visit, and he'd barely been there for an hour.
Looking around, the pair realized that they were on the outskirts of an absolutely gorgeous park, full of well maintained exotic plants and trees. To the pilots, it may as well have been a paradise, but it was also a paradise they didn't recognize many bits of. Either the plants were just unknown to them, or they were exclusive to the world they had originated in. It was probably the latter, since Logan did not know the names of very many plants. What he did know was the name of was exactly one Power Ranger, and because of his choice earlier he was not likely to learn others that night. Speaking of those brave and mighty heroes, they were all standing on a nearby rooftop, waiting for exactly the right moment. That moment had come!
The Pink Ranger shouted, attracting the attention of the Ambassador. “Yo, Corgan!” She quickly did a finely gymnastic handspring, and leaped off the multi-story stone building. Naturally, she landed perfectly and took a brief bow.
“Get ready to party, cause we're bringin' it to ya!” shouted what was obviously the Black Ranger, based on color coding. He actually moonwalked backwards off the rooftop, turning what might have been a stumble into a damn fine backflip. He too, landed in front of the foreigners and Logan realized that a pattern was being established.
“We're here, and we heard there was someone who needed protecting!” The Yellow Ranger bowed slightly, before jumping into the air and divekicking down towards the guests. Yes, she actually divekicked, meaning she jumped straight up and redirected her momentum once she'd reached the apex of the jump. Aside from being physically impossible to do to the degree that she did without some kind of special power, it looked damn cool and actually made Shinji flinch like he thought he'd actually be kicked.
The Blue Ranger spoke next. “The Wonderchild and Number 01 - your mecha are top notch design! I hope you brought them!” Blue just did a basic standing jump, and Logan frowned briefly before putting 'show face' back on. They had not brought them.
The Red Ranger didn't even wait to finish talking, he shouted loudly mid leap, “Either way, we're ready for action! We are...” He landed, and the entire gang gave simultaneous thumbs up!
Kim finished Red's sentence, yelling at the top of her lungs, “The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers!” 6 notes of a guitar tune that Logan had never heard in his life filled the air after she said this. It was weird, since there were no guitars, but he assumed it was some kind of superhero thing. However, that wasn't all she had to say. She was in the front of the team, with the other four rangers standing slightly behind her. It was obvious to anyone, especially the diplomat, that the Pink Ranger was the leader of the team. Logan was taken by the entire spectacle! He clapped his hands together vigorously and quickly, his mouth dominated by a grin as wide as he could remember having. In his eyes, the Power Rangers were totally awesome, and he could barely think of what to say! He noticed that his buddy was a little less enthusiastic, neither clapping nor smiling. Obviously, he didn't speak fluent English, so he likely only understood parts of what was being said. That was kind of sad, but nothing to be broken up about. Logan's appreciation was plenty for both of them.
“Rangers, I can't thank you enough for coming! On behalf of the United Arms, we need help. This guy is in serious danger from his own group!” Logan pointed to his roomally, pushing him forward so the Rangers could see him.
After briefly looking at one another, the Rangers all nodded and threw up other gestures of agreement. “When we got our powers we swore to use them for defense, and we will defend you!” said the Blue Ranger, as Kimberly stepped forward to place her strong gloved hand on the slender teen's shoulder. This made Shinji blush on a level heretofore unseen by Logan, and he almost broke diplomaface and laughed at him. “Angel Grove will be the safest place for you, Shinji. Why are you on the run from NERV, though?” asked Pink.
The Japanese high schooler glanced at his feet for a moment, but steeled himself and looked into the big black faux-eyes of the Pterodactyl Ranger suit. “I don't want to ride the EVA again,” he answered in English, which shocked Logan quite a bit. He didn't think his bud knew enough to compose full sentences, but clearly he was a smart kid and had been boning up on the language since they'd been in contact. Maybe he'd practiced it with the goal of impressing the superleader. “With NERV, no choice.” That was more like it, Shinji's accent coming through noticeably
The Black Ranger also ran up on Shinji, taking the other shoulder. “We gotchu.”
Angel Grove, Hills
Yes, apparently by 'gotchu' Black had meant that they had tricked the two travelers. That was the only conclusion that Logan was able to make, since his legs were figuratively on Jupiter. They'd been walking for quite some time, literally having strolled from the outskirts of the city up to some rocky hills nearby. They weren't even gentle and sloping like the ones outside Tokyo-3, these were dry and stony, with sheer cliffs being the norm at times. The skinnier young guy had done fairly well, and been able to make the climb easily. Logan, less so. His chubbiness, while not extreme, made it difficult to make it up a few elevations without being helped. “Fuck being without a giant robot,” he thought to himself. “This would be so much easier with the W-E.”
Still, the Rangers had pulled him up when he needed help, and none of them had demeaned him or made jokes. It was a legitimately challenging hike, not meant to be made. There weren't even paths or blazed trails – it was just cliffs, mostly. Still, it wasn't like it was some kind of mystery where they were headed. It was the huge stone building of a similar color to all the rock around it. However, unlike the unhewn cliffs they'd strode up to climb to it, this building was clearly a very smooth and carved stone. It looked advanced and wondrous, like it could be some kind of observatory or atelier, and had nicely sloping walls instead of hard boxy ones. Shinji, once again, wasn't impressed. “I was hoping we were going to the park...” he whispered to Logan in Japanese.
Logan would generally assure him that they'd go to the park another time, but at the moment he was too busy being impressed. The solid stone of the building slid open, revealing a large open doorway. The Rangers all walked in, and so did Logan. Shinji hesitated but eventually came through, walking in and flinching when the stone slid closed behind them. Inside was a sight to behold. It was a large, open chamber with an obvious path leading towards what looked more like the bridge of a starship than the stone exterior. It was all metal and brightly colored flashing lights. Devices resembling computer consoles were spread around, giving the place the look of a workplace. There were even multiple pillars composed of neon light rings, and a platform in the middle. In the middle of the platform arose a holographic projection, as sharp and crisp as it was huge. This, Logan assumed, was the individual Kimberly had referred to as “Zordon”. A giant head.
As expected, it spoke. The voice was loud, but not so that it was offensive. “Greetings, Logan. You have arrived at the Command Center after a long journey. Were you able to remain safe?” The giant holographic head smiled at the assemblage in front of him. It looked like an older human man, but was tinted a sort of greenish, pale blue. Somehow Logan found his presence comforting instead of intimidating, quite a contrast to the older man who he had come to America to make a stand against. He could not even spot a neck or body associated with the head, which lined up with how Kim had described the being to him that fateful night. It was all very cool in the young adult's mind.
“Very, thank you Zordon.” answered Logan. He stood at attention, presenting his most professional and grateful self. “I'm glad we chose to seek asylum with you – no place on Earth may help us remain safe in the future better than the Command Center.” This was what the Rangers had called it as they walked there, and it seemed an appropriate name for the location.
“Yes, my Rangers informed me of your goal. Normally only the Power Rangers are allowed to enter, but both you and Mr. Ikari are mecha pilots, pivotal to the future of mankind. In light of this, you may stay as long as you need to negotiate with NERV. I ask only that you seek peace and cooperation within these halls.” Zordon stoically returned the professionalism, and continued, “I believe that it is a later hour than you may wish to begin working. If you wish, you may rest here this evening. The lower levels of the Center are well-stocked with a full bunker built for my Rangers to rest in should any of them need solitude or refuge from the world.” He smiled, and a small elevator was illuminated.
The young man turned to the even younger one, and spoke Japanese. “Shinji, do you want to rest? I know we've been moving all day, and I don't want to begin talks with them without you feeling okay.”
“The bunker's great! You'll love it!” The Red Ranger put his hands on his hips and nodded vigorously, clearly a fan of whatever accommodations were provided.
Shinji actually looked extremely relieved, like he'd been expecting to have to start that very night. “Yes, we will stay.” he said, trying to come off like he wasn't being lead around.
That settled that!
The Bunker
Logan and Shinji sat alone in their four-cornered room staring at candles. There was only one bed, and it was clearly going to have to be shared by the pilots because there wasn't any other furniture worth sleeping on. Well, unless one considered a small dresser to be worth sleeping on. Still, that would be fine, since it was fairly large and would accommodate them both easily. There was a small bathroom that miraculously had plumbing, but that was in an adjacent room. The walls were painted black, just like those of the main command center room upstairs. The Rangers, after promising to return the very next day, had remained to converse with Zordon about topics presumably related to superheroics.
This had left both of the Tokyo-3 residents little option but to get ready and hit the hay. They were tired from both the plane ride and the walk, and admittedly eager for the next day. Their eagerness manifested in different ways, naturally. Logan kept it cool, but Shinji was having a little trouble sleeping. The guys laid next to each other in bed, thinking about things and making light conversation. Shinji asked, “Do you think I did well in front of the Pink Ranger?”
Logan grinned. “Yeah, I'd say so. You handled the climb like a stud, unlike my out of shape butt. Plus, I didn't know you'd been learning her language!”
Shinji actually smiled exuberantly, perhaps the biggest and most sincere one Logan had ever seen from him. “I have had some classes before, but I'm really focused on it now. Let's speak in English sometimes, okay?” He looked at the man next to him with wide, hopeful eyes.
“Definitely.”
“Thank you...” said the high school kid, closing his eyes and looking like he was falling asleep very quickly. He was definitely tuckered out enough to just fall, now that he'd gotten a pleasant distraction from the source of his stress.
A pleasant and happy little tune emitted from the cell phone Logan had left on the dresser. Normally he would just ignore it, but he realized that he was being contacted from Japan! He wasn't sure how well international roaming into a slice brought in from another universe would work, but he'd brought it just in case. It had been a miracle, in his mind, that he'd even been able to connect to local networks at all. Quietly and without much movement, he grabbed it, glad the dresser was in arm's reach. As he thought, it was Misato's ringtone. According to his phone's screen, he'd missed several calls from her and a ton of messages. He decided to read them chronologically. Misato's messages were of course in Japanese, but followed a very easily recognizable sort of format.
“Hiiii Logan! Thanks again for going to see Shinji, he sounded glad! You're the best ^.^”
“Logan, is Shinji back at the apartment? He was supposed to come in for sync tests -.- Stupid kid”
“Hiiiii Logan *.* Are you out somewhere? You better bring me dinner if you're eating out! :3 BTW Shinji's not answering his phone, is he with you? Bring me all the food!”
“Logan, Shinji didn't come home. I went in his room and found a bunch of his stuff MISSING! Kinda scared here, let me know if he's with you at your other apartment or something.”
“Logan, where are you? You know I get mad if you don't answer me! You're my personal servant, that means you must answer! >.> Bring Shinji home.”
The messages had stopped for a while, but one had just been sent.
“Logan, I hope you're okay. Please be safe. I know you have enemies, don't let them get you.”
The last one made Logan's throat catch. It would be great to let her know he was okay, but that could lead to further questioning. As he thought about what to say, he realized two things. Shinji was asleep, and he had apparently either unconsciously or semiconsciously wrapped Logan's free hand in his own. He looked happy, and had gotten them linked fairly well.
Choice Time!
>Logan sent a message. “Misato, I'm safe. So is Shinji. Don't worry about us.”
>Logan sent a message. “I have Shinji. He's safe from NERV at the moment. Don't worry about us.”
>Logan turned off his phone without sending a message.
Second Choice Time!
>Logan went with it, letting himself drift to sleep holding hands with his ally.
>Logan wasn't comfortable or inclined to hold hands, and broke the contact even if it meant waking up Shinji.

The Bunker
Logan stared at the final message he'd received a few times. It didn't feel good to be harming the emotional state of someone who was obviously concerned for him, but neither did he love the idea of being too cozy with an agent of the very group he was about to screw with. Still, he'd gotten somewhat attached to Misato over the time he'd known her. It was time not to break down the bond he'd built, but nurture it. Choking down the building resentment he was feeling towards NERV, the scheming diplomat typed out a simple and sincere message.
“Misato, I'm safe. So is Shinji. Don't worry about us.”
That would make things a bit easier, hopefully. Speaking of which, Logan was not entirely sure about the whole holding hands thing. It wasn't that it was unpleasant or rough, it's that he hadn't been physically demonstrative with Shinji like that before. Usually people did that sort of thing when they were showing affection, but it could easily be a sleepy show of trust. The most important thing was that Shinji slept well, so after he placed the phone back he just laid back and allowed himself to relax. A little hand-on-hand contact was honestly not that big of a deal, and they had bigger things to worry about.
Despite the smallness of the room, Logan found the Red Ranger's hype to be fair. The room was nothing if not lacking in distractions and the bustle of the world. Saving serious thoughts for the next day, he wondered if he would really get to have an actual vacation. Soon, Logan found his eyes shutting themselves and just went along with it. Travel is exhausting.
Command Center Central Command (The Following Day)
Logan stood alongside six of his fellow machine riders. Zordon looked upon them all, clarifying the situation. “Logan, the Rangers have chosen to follow through with protecting you anyway we can. However, we must ask that you enter this task prepared. You wish to contact NERV and ask for Shinji's release from employment on the grounds that to continue to work for them in his current role would be too torturous. I sympathize profoundly with your situation, brought about by technology and human choice. No Ranger will ever be subject to the sensation of attacks on their Zord, but we are unfamiliar with the power they use. If you wish to challenge them in this act of rebellion, we ask that you share all knowledge of the Evangelion with us.”
Shinji pointed at Logan, who accepted the role of explanation. “Gladly. The Evangelion uses a combination of biological tissue and an exterior armor made of machine parts. The purple look it has belies the fact that it's a living creature, and I think it was made with the specific purpose of deception.” The Power Rangers murmured amongst themselves before quieting down. “When Shinji is inside the Entry Plug, he gets drenched with an orange substance they call Link Control Liquid, and that helps him to 'snyc' up with the Eva itself. The higher his 'sync rate', the stronger and easier to pilot 01 is, and the more sensation Shinji feels when the robot is harmed.”
Zordon paused, digesting this fact. “This is disturbing indeed. If what you say is true, the system that causes young Shinji pain is at the very core of Evangelion 01's intended combat style. You've asked for a chance to negotiate, but the possibility may remain that nothing can be done about such a central piloting requirement.” Zordon looked down upon the pilots with compassionate eyes.
Shinji, who'd been listening intently, decided to try answering for himself. “I still cannot. Logan, tell of Rei.” For a change, the teen wasn't breaking eye contact or anything despite the language barrier. Clearly he had rested well, and was ready to stand up for himself in some capacity.
Logan had known this topic of conversation would end up arising, and it was an awkward one. According to Shinji's descriptions, this would be a moderately disturbing subject. The Rangers and Zordon were, however, heroic guardians, and had likely seen some bad things themselves. Eh, maybe not the Rangers themselves but Zordon surely had. Logan frown-spoke, “Rei Ayanami is another Eva pilot NERV is hiding up their sleeves. They haven't gone public with her existence because they, uh... Fucked her up.” Several Rangers snickered at the swear, but after a fatherly glance from Zordon, they composed themselves. “The day I met Shinji, they nearly sortied an Evangelion using a teenage girl as the pilot. According to Shinji, she was covered in wounds and bloodied bandages. NERV was still ready to launch her.” Logan looked around at all the people he was explaining this to and continued, “This is the kind of people we're dealing with. I don't doubt their goals when it comes to beating the Angels, but they're clearly willing to send ch-” He paused and corrected himself, “To send minors to their agonizing death. This is the fate I brought him here to avoid.”
It was difficult to read the emotional state of the Rangers, thanks to their full dino-themed masks. With that in mind, it was clear that at least a few of them were taken aback. Pilots like them who didn't have to feel the sensation of battle personally would often have little frame of reference for such an experience, but it was common knowledge that the American superheroes often fought hand to hand against smaller monsters. Bones had been difficult to defeat even in the Wonderchild, so clearly they'd taken some injuries in... well, actually Logan had no clue how long they'd been active for. Kim seemed pretty confident in her abilities, but that could come with either time or inexperience.
It was Zordon who spoke next. “Understood. While I admit that I too have placed several teenagers in danger, it was never done coercively. If NERV has forced him to fight inside Evangelion with no regard for his well-being of the well-being of its other pilots, they are either extremely cold or impossibly desperate.” Perking up slightly, Zordon said, “It matters not which.” He looked as if he shrugged, despite not having shoulders.
The Blue Ranger stepped forward, shaking his head. “Technology must be used for the betterment of the universe, not to cause suffering to the innocent. If you guys could just do something like get me some schematics-”
“Tri, please leave it for later. This is a time to focus on humans, not machines.” The Yellow Ranger calmly and smoothly defused the geeking out that was sure to follow, and allowed the group to avoid being side-tracked. Logan assumed she called him Tri as in “Triceratops”, which the Blue Ranger's helmet resembled. Actually, now that he realized this, he looked around at the other mask helmets. The Black Ranger's looked like some kind of mastodon, while Red was something with noticable teeth. Possibly a carnosaur or something. Yellow was something with tusks, and Kim was obviously wearing the pterodactyl helmet as she always did in-suit.
“Yes. The well-being of young Shinji is of paramount importance. Naturally, you may use the Viewing Globe for this contact. Feel free to conduct negotiations as you see fit, Ambassador. We will stay out of the issue unless you find yourself in need of assistance. Whenever you are ready, address the Globe.” Zordon lit up the large glass orb attached to one of the computer consoles. It swirled at the moment with a fine mist, and the Rangers began taking seats to watch the scene, as the Red Ranger had carried some chairs in.
Logan and Shinji on the other hand, stood shoulder to shoulder. Staring into the beautiful globe, it was Logan who made the move of speaking to it. “Globe, please patch us through to NERV headquarters.” Instantly, the mist altogether disappeared, and the viewing globe momentarily looked like a regular glass sphere. As quickly as the mist disappeared, a new visual phenomenon begun. It looked like a visual representation of audio waves, which were also emanating from the Viewing Globe.
Dismissing with all notions of pleasantries, a pre-recorded female voice spoke simple words. “Please state your access code.”
“San Shi Heaven.” Logan had memorized the code they'd given him by heart, and a short chime confirmed that ir was accepted by the system. Without need for furthing prompting, he unceremoniously said the name “Captain Misato Katsuragi”, then added, “Video Conference.” He hadn't turned on his phone since the previous night, but hoped that his message was enough to give her at least a little peace of mind. He knew what he was doing would possibly jeopardize his relationship with her, but if she was not willing to get on board with doing this for Shinji then maybe she wasn't as good of an ally as he'd hoped she would be.
A smooth jazz tune began playing, and Logan gave a thumbs up to the others. It was confirmed, now all he had to do was wait for her to be in a position to accept the call. Everyone waited in silence for a good few minutes, presumably wondering if this would even go as expected. There was no guarantee, after all, that she would even be at work. This was dismissed once a familiar purple haired woman appeared on the globe, and instantly got excited when she saw Logan. “Oh, damnit. Logan, it's so good you're calling. I was getting really pissed at you, you know!” she said in Japanese, as Shinji waited just out of view.
“Sorry, Misato. I never meant to make you worry about Shinji or I. Like I said in the message, we're safe.” Logan smiled sincerely into the orb, as quiet beeps and blips emitted from a nearby computer console.
“Well, it's good to hear your voice.” Captain Katsuragi returned the smile and asked, “Why are you video calling on this instead of just our phones, though? We could have been talking before now.” Clearly she'd been genuinely worried about the pair.
Logan softened his look a little, not smiling quite as much as before. “I actually have something I need to let you guys know. It's about Shinji. Are Commander Ikari, Vice-Commander Fuyutsuki and Chief of Science Akagi available?”
Misato looked confused by the question. Glancing upwards briefly like she was deep in thought, she answered, “I think they're all in today, but I haven't spoken to Fuyutsuki today. I've actually been covering for your stupid butt, you know!”
Logan calmly answered, “Thank you for that. I will need you to bring any of those key NERV staff members you can, since this is very important and has to do with our friend. It can't really wait.”
The older woman pursed her lips, then nodded in understanding. “I'll get us set up over here, then. You can hold, right? Oh, and where are you?”
“California.”
Misato's jaw practically dropped when this answer came, and she looked to be literally lost for words. She shrugged and the video feed cut out. However, the audio waves showed their faces again, and so did the smooth jazz.
“So far, so good!” cheered the Ranger-disguised Kimberly, pumping her fist like the energetic girl she was.
“Yeah. Now comes the hard part.”
Choice Time!
>Logan understood that NERV was a necessary ally for him. He would do everything in his power to figuratively kiss their butt, not stepping on their toes while trying to negotiate for Shinji. Honey attracts more flies than vinegar, right? Wait, is that how the phrase goes? Whatever.
>Logan decided to go hard as a motherfucker. He was sincerely and utterly pissed with what NERV was doing, and would not only express this to them, but also flat out blackmail the shadowy group using their own pilot. Naturally, the blackmail would be on the pilot's behalf, without even needing to visually bring in the Rangers. They can't make him get in the robot if he's under protection! After what happened in the Godzilla battle, Logan was ready to flat out fuck with these bastards.
>Logan was going to go into this situation very calmly and measured in nature. He will neither favor NERV nor deliberately antagonize them. Given the intense feelings associated with the situation, it would be difficult for him to try to remain detached. However, he will attempt to leverage the fact that he's in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers' territory to its full advantage. They would provide a colorful contrast to his stoicism.
