Fair word of warning, depending on the mood of whoever gives you your items you can get all sorts of weird things from the vending machine. I would assume everyone will refrain from giving you useless joke items for your first three items since you don't really have a choice but to use them, but the only person I can make any promises about is myself. As for how the vending machine works, you give the last person to insert something into the vending machine an item based on what they inserted and then insert something yourself. You can insert pretty much anything ranging from a coin to something fictional or even something completely nonsensical like the abstract concept of sadness.

Yes, things like that and the fact that nobody here seems to be that much of a dick as to screw over a new member of the site is why I said I'd assume that everyone will give him good items. That still doesn't mean I can outright guarantee it because unless everyone signed a legally binding document which would be ridiculous there's no way to guarantee that. The only person I can guarantee the actions of is myself because that's the only person I can control.
In other words, this whole paragraph is me being "that guy" as usual.
