I suspect it to be an inherent flaw of the format of game popular here. They like to play individually instead of sharing a character, which means that each player has to have individually tailored written material. It can be nice to have one's own toon, but it also makes for way more work for the writer, which can lead to burnout. That's why I prefer CYOAs.

I WILL update the Gauntlet after my stream. Wether I want to or not. I'm not going to sleep until I update it. There's only 3 players involved anyway. Should be easy enough. |

I run multiple of both.
Yeah, not-CYOAs are more work on my part.
But less roadblocks due to ties and no shipping wars. Or less dramatic ones, anyway. #WorldWarRaine
