You cross the bridge and find another split path. To the right is a slope leading up to the top. More of those giant salamanders are there. To the left is another portal.

You look back and see that Tia and Mercia have finished off the monsters at the entrance. Tia is holding her spear towards Mercia. Mercia seems unimpressed.
