Man and Man
"Might be right about that! But if there's no cash and no trade going on, ya might be fucked, boys!" Cackling like a simpleton, the curio salesman walked off to assist a young lady who'd entered the store and was looking for herbs.
Starman Factual Analysis: Without cash, barter, theft, or violence, the manual will remain outside our grasp. Alternate solution available: Mission Device available for consultation. Compensation for Official Mission highly likely.

Henry Stickman and Starman
While the shop's owner was distracted, Starman consulted his simple mission device, plugging it into his input slot. The process of receiving a message would be slow in this dimension, but thankfully, it had already received one.
"Dimensional scouting successful. Anti-teleportation field not present in currently occupied dimension. Mission confirmed: discover appropriate location for stationary relay installation, set beacon."
Thankfully, Starman knew what that would take - it wouldn't be a physical beacon, but a point in space he would confirm as the correct location for technology to be beamed in.
Starman Data Analysis: This place of business is a suboptimal location for a relay.

Go outside, then. Look for high ground.

Henry Stickman and Starman
The mismatched but sticking-together duo exited the shop they were in, and continued to walk the streets looking for a high altitude location. Unfortunately, block after block, they only come upon modestly tall structures. As they recalled, there were much taller buildings available in each of the other boroughs, the best available spot nearby to them being a rooftop only a couple stories up. Not as high as the giant, imposing and villainous looking skyscraper to the north, but hmm....
Starman Data Analysis: Technically, the multi-story structure is acceptably high. Though unlikely to exceed expectations, the relay could be placed there pending a visual analysis of the roof's contents.

Alright, enter the building that holds the rooftop.

Henry and Starman
With all due haste, the Men Whose Names Start with S flat out hauled ass into the building they'd spotted. It was, it seemed, an apartment building. That was all well and good, as despite there being a few people moving through the halls, they weren't threatened or called out. In fact, just by playing it casual, they were only even noticed by one dude, and he seemed preoccupied with other shit. There were a few floor plans publically available to residents and visitors, and following them and a few signs led them to the stairways. Up and around they went until they reached the roof access stairs, and with hope filling them, Henry checked to see if the door was locked. It wasn't! The door opened, revealing the open air of the sky and the meager furnishings of the rooftop. There was literally nothing up there except some ventilation and or other systems, all unpainted metal looking things. Didn't seem like there were too many reasons why a civilian would go up there. Not a bad spot, really!
