Just14AwkwardTight DanSome time soon (as in "probably this weekend" soon) I'm planning on getting a new computer that's actually capable of playing games instead of , and I'm thinking of getting FF14 on it but wanted to ask some questions since I'm on the fence and figured you guys would be the best ones to ask, especially since two of the questions specifically involve you guys. -Do you still play this? Being able to party with people I already know (at least within the context of the internet, obviously not in person) rather than random strangers would be a pretty big incentive. -Are the jobs and races included in the expansions available right from the start (or at least when jobs are unlocked) or do you have to complete everything leading up to those expansions first? Astrologian and Red Mage both look pretty neat and I'm considering using an Au Ra, but I don't want to spend all of ARR using one character in one job only to ditch them for a new character with a completely different job that I have to learn and level up. -(probably the most important question)Is it possible to skip paying he subscription fee for a couple of months if I decide I don't want to play the game during that time, then pay it later when I'm interested again and have my account ready and waiting for me? I'm not a big fan of subscription models, but if I only have to pay for the subscription when I want to play the game as opposed to it bein a constant money drain even if I'm playing completely different games that would make it a lot easier to accept. -Assuming you guys are still playing this, would an Astrologian or Red Mage (I'm leaning more towards Astrologian) fit well with the jobs you guys typically use? If it would mean we're all healers with no tanking or dedicated DPS I should probably think about picking a different job.

Oh yeah, one more question. Also assuming you're still playing this (and given Dantalion's profile pic I think it's safe to assume at the very least one of you is) which server are you on? It'd be kind of tough to do anything in-game together from different servers.

-Yes -OK so the Heaven'sward Jobs are not available until you actually get into the town they're located at which is locked until you get to the expansion content but, Red Mage and Samurai are available as soon as you hit lvl 50, Au'Ra are available from the very beginning technically they are patch content not expansion content after all. Changing Jobs is super easy in FFXIV you only need one character so you don't have to feel stuck in your job. -While there is no way to do specifically what you ask rates are very malleable and you get some free time if I can't remember how much it is but, you'd find out and there's currently a Free-login campaign na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/topics/detail/6d6666ed8b669d6b6c6b9c6a38935191a68f0714-Like I've mentioned before Jobs are super easy to switch between so this shouldn't be a problem, while I'm terrified of Tanking higher level content I'm sure I could step in if you had no one else though I've actually leveled most of the DPS and Healers |

-Well my main character is on Faerie but, as long as you're in the same data center you can do content with the other person so it's not as big a deal as it would be in other MMOs

Sorry, I don't do XIV anymore. It's cool that you ask though. I really wish I could but I just don't have the time for it, even though I never really started on much when I played anyways? XIV is really good though and I know some people that got super invested so I wish you the best with it. Just is a GOD at XIV and he's still active on it I think, so he can help you out more.
Really the only thing that holds people back at all is the subscription deal, but once you just accept that and factor it in your budget, you're golden. Have fun with it dude.

Eh, the cheapest deal ($12.99/month) is only 94 cents more than what I make in an hour. As long as my new computer can run it (I downloaded the Benchmark test on my current one both out of curiosity and to get a head start making my character, and it proved that my current one certainly can't run it well) I'm pretty sure I'll get it.

Uhh I think my subscription's still going, but I'd need to download it on my new computer. Or play on PS4.
The game's fun. Especially your first time, but I've already beaten it twice and own two characters. One on Ifrit and one on Ultros. Both are top tier sexy boys. I haven't played in a few months because I'm really not into the post game grinding.
If you wanted to have me play with you, I can play any casting DPS or Tank effectively, but I'd really prefer a role-playing guild or something like that instead of the vanilla game. And I'd super prefer if it was casual because the hardcore stuff was just really boring. To me anyway. I'd make a new character, probably. I'd also probably only play like maybe once or twice a week because I've got other things I do.
But if you don't want to play with me and still want to play, it's a fun game anyway. The community is really great, so you'd find a guild that would take you in and make new dungeon friends pretty easily.

In the process of downloading the game now after having bought it (I considered the trial but decided to jump right in). I wouldn't be opposed to doing some role playing alongside working through the main story and leveling up as long as it doesn't cross into anything creepy (and given the purpose of this site is for perfectly normal and non-creepy RPs I think it's safe to say ERP wasn't what you meant), I've got at least some idea of a backstory for my character (although as usual I'm still trying to decide on a good name for her). If you guys are starting new characters I guess that means any server is alright as long as it's a relatively RP-friendly one. Any preferences from you guys?
Also, I just want to mention now that palace of the dead looks awesome from the way the site describes it. A roguelike mode in an MMO? Yes please!

Oh god, there's a lot of these. We're going to have to narrow down what kind of RP guild we want. Are we going for thieves, bartenders, slice of life, academy for magic, holy shiiiiiiiit it's endless.

Okay, so upon further research, we should avoid Balmung even though it was THE RP server. But then it became THE ERP server. But then it was also kind of a toxic server anyway. So throw it out. I'm looking at Mateus because it's like the second best one according to my research. I'll let you know if I find anything else worth mentioning.
