During Fate/Vit Con, players will summon a character to fight alongside them in a battle to the death among seven vitcon users! First come, first serve.
Each team will be made of two characters: master (player character) and servant (summoned character). Each master will have one of a few abilities to help their servants, but even the weakest servants are several orders of magnitude stronger than a master. You will not win in a direct confrontation against an enemy servant.
Each servant will be summoned under one of 7 classes. Therefore, there is a limit to 7 players. Furthermore, classes are not created equally. Each class has advantages and disadvantages, and your servant's class limits who they can be. The seven classes are:
Saber: Burst damage boost, magic resistance boost
Lancer: Defense boost, dexterity boost
Archer: Range attack, 'independent action' ability (servant more skilled at fighting without master's direct orders)
Rider: Mobility, high vitality
Assassin: Stealth, independent action
Caster: Magic attack, stronger special attack
Berserker: Greatly increased attack, but weaker special attacks and tend to have a serious personality flaw

I've come up with two systems, and I'm currently trying to decide between them. I'll probably try to think of a way to combine the two.

Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: Still deciding as part of the other thing.
The original idea would've had people using their own characters, but that got scrapped.

Before I go to sleep and forget: Have you seen UBW? Masters/Mages can actually win against Servants, if the Servant has bad affinity with them. See: Rin VS Medea, Medea's Master VS Artoria, Emiya VS Gil. This is also true in Servant battles. Certain Servants have an innate advantage over others. Gil VS Herc, Cu VS Emiya, etc. UBW also goes into lore on the Counter Force, which is another important thing.
Just wanted to post this while it was still on my mind.

Those are special cases, and the latter was very divisive in the fanbase at the time. Regardless of affinity, it has been stated several times masters can’t beat servants, and in other Fate works this is usually the case. The situation and planning Tohsaka and Shirou came up with was reckless, and could’ve resulted in their deaths quickly before the resolution could’ve been activated. It’s an act of serendipity and not the standard, considering Shirou could barely dodge the Child of Light’s Gae Bolg. In the VN he states his arm felt as though it had shattered. I don’t remember teacher-senpai and Arturia’s battle too clearly now,but I vaguely remember her being weakened prior to the battle. The fact he could handle her surprised everyone. It wouldn’t be the first time Nasu has written himself into a corner and had to think how to get out of it. The Herc battle in the forest is a good example. Caliburn is weaker than Excalibur yet it...killed him? In one blow? It’s inttiguing. Other than that I think Medea and her magic on teacher-senpai was used. Think it gave him the edge he needed. Casters are good. |
