Yuleian Safehouse
One of Glinda's rifts materialized just outside the front door. Alvis was the one who stepped through it, stretching his neck a little before going back to a presentable posture. The two guards saluted him in acknowledgement as he knocked a bit on the front door, trying to recall off the top of his head how heavy or light of a sleeper the Yuleian princess was.
"Hello?"
Throne Room
"No no, not the bedroom, the resting room!" Irving said. "It's like the latrines and a bathhouse at once. Ya turn a thing on the wall to make water come out that you bathe with, or you pee in the bowl and turn another thing to clean it. Don't know about the candles, though. I was too busy being..."
Irving expression fell. "Oh, yeah. I hafta apologize for how I was yesterday."

Breaking News can be seen flashing.
"Ahem sorry to interrupt your broadcast but I been informed of a crisis," A red headed woman says.
She appears to be sitting behind one of those old school news desk. She is dressed as a news reporter and she even has a pair of glasses on.
"Due to a severe lack of questions,". "I have been informed by my sister Anna that the very first mailbag's deadline has been extended,". "You now have until Monday evening to PM those questions to our lovely guest Lana," News Anchor Anna said.
"If there's ever anything you ever wanted to know about our dear princess now is the time to ask,". "No question to big,". "No question is too personal,". "Now then we return you to your regularly scheduled program.

It's a good thing Alvis is a patient man, for a lesser man would have kicked the door down by now.

St. Elne - Streets
The wagon's road wasn't too bumpy, but Grant's focus was more on the surroundings around him, and the cowboy in front of him trying to explain what's going on to the best of his ability. Apparently they were trying to summon people from other worlds? And they're at war with another country? And flying-type Mankey are also trying to kill them? Grant understood only part of it, as the more he saw of the "old-fashioned" city, the more the cowboy in front of him stood out like a sore thumb. The occasional element of modern-day civilization he saw -- like electrical lighting, blue jeans, and firearms -- only made him even more confused.
This has got to be a dream. A really strange dream. A bad one.
"Then do me a favor and don't wake up yet. We get someplace that mostly resembles my prime, AND there's battles to fight? This is my idea of a vacation!"
"Cool yourself some, pardner," the cowboy said, seeing Grant's distress. "Glinda's a nice gal. I'm sure she'll let ya go back home if you ask. 'course, I'd rather we get more fightin' hands on our side."
"W-Well," Grant said, finding his composure, "I'm kind of in my own war back home, and I don't want to abandon my friends there, either, so..."
"I ain't judgin' nothin'," the cowboy answered. "We're all the stars of our own lil' story."
"So, umm..." Grant fidgeted. "Do... you know if any other 'Outlanders' have been summoned?"
The cowboy shrugged. "Beats me. I forgot this was a thing that was gonna happen, and I haven't met any other weirdos of your caliber since."
What's so weird about me?!
"'Sup."
But he doesn't know about you!
"Speakin' o' forgettin'... Pardon my manners, but I think I forgot to introduce myself." The cowboy tipped his hat at Grant. "Name's Sterling. Jonathan Sterling. Just a humble guy that's good at shootin' varmints. You got a name? Callsign? Designation? Thing folks shout to get your attention?"
Grant considered using a fake name. "My name's Grant," he finally answered.
"Grant, eh?" the cowboy echoed. "Alrighty, I'll make sure to remember that name."
Though neither of them could tell, the driver at the front scoffed at that.
Sterling looked up as if he just noticed where they were. He nodded his head ahead of the wagon. Grant looked over to see a pair of metal gates opening to let them through; two guards with firearms saluting at the passing wagon, presumably for Sterling. Grant gasped as he saw a courtyard lush with greenery, and the large palace standing tall before him.
"We're here," said Sterling. "Hope Glinda don't mind me dropping by unannounced..."
-----
After getting off the wagon, Grant followed Sterling as he spoke with some soldiers. One of them came back telling him that the person Sterling was asking about was busy for some reason or another, but that Grant can wait in the throne room with the "other Outlanders". Sterling was allowed to escort him there, which made Grant feel only a slightly bit better, as the stranger in an unknown world was going to share a waiting room with other strangers the that might be considered strange by this world's standards, whatever they may be.
"So how're gonna introduce yourself to these strange people? Going up to the front like a gradeschooler?" Gawain asked Grant right as they approach a large, important-looking door with armed guards in the front.
I'll... I'll just try not to draw attention to myself too much. I don't plan on staying here for long either, so why bother, right?
The plan was foiled immediately, as Sterling kicked the door down like someone would enter a saloon in one of those old westerns Grant's father used to watch.
"Make way for the new... Outlander..."
Sterling looked at the only two individuals there not dressed in military or servant uniform. First impressions: a normal-looking lady in a black dress, and some guy dressed like a poor mercenary, with a rifle slung over their backs that looks like it hasn't seen maintenance in too long.
"That's it? Err, I mean, howdy! This feller here is Grant! He's an Outlander, just like you!" Sterling patted a cringing Grant on the back and lightly pushed him forward. "Don't be shy, say howdy!"
Grant ended up staring like a Deerling in headlights for a few seconds before cobbling together an introduction. "Er, ummm... H-hey! I'm Grant! I'm a Pokemon trainer, but I guess I gotta explain what that is, huh? I also do... r-rebel stuff, and... Erm, nice to meet you!"
St. Elne - Inn
John Doe and company awoke fairly early in the morning. He decided that their first order of business was to see if anybody was hunting for him in particular. To that end, they peered out the second-story window as Zoroark created an illusion of John Doe loitering on his own in the streets outside. Nobody paid a lot of attention to him, with or without the mask. At the very least, it seemed he can walk in the open without worry.
"Alright," John Doe said to his squad. "The plan is to find any kind of information we can. Checking newspapers, overhearing gossip, watching or hearing news broadcasts if any, maybe asking about the latest gossip, etc."
"Should we hide ourselves, papa?" Rotom asked.
"Yes. If the people here have never seen you guys before, it would attract a lot of unneeded attention. Rotom, Grinn, Ditto, the usual. Manaphy, stay close to me. Zoroark, you already know."
"Yeah yeah," Zoroark replied.
Rotom slipped into Doe's electronic mask, Grinn hid in Joshua's shadow, Ditto wrapped itself beneath Joshua's right sleeve, and Manaphy perched itself on Doe's shoulder. Zoroark didn't seem to do anything, but Doe knew that he was camouflauging himself and Manaphy to be invisible to the human eye.
John Doe opened the window, and dropped down after making sure that nobody in the loosely populated street below was looking.
Given his luck, he wasn't surprised that trouble found him almost immediately, as he heard a commotion from right inside the inn he just squatted in.
"Don't lie to me!"
What now?
John Doe glanced through the front door to the side. He saw a burly roughneck angrily slam their fist onto the front counter, where a senior-aged man sat. The senior looked at the other man sternly and spoke calmly, but it was clear from his body language and somewhat shivering hands that he was nervous at best, terrified at worst.
"Sir, for the last time, I haven't spoken to him in years." the elder said. "And even if I have, what difference does it make? If it is what you expect, what's done is done."
"The man's a damn juggler!" the muscle-bound man shouted. "He can barely afford meals, now he suddenly has money to buy tickets for two to move to St. Elne, with even higher rates of living?! No, he had somebody helping him, and you're the only guy who would be willing to help him! So either you come clean..." The roughneck pulled out a revolver and pointed it at the senior, who flinched and raised his hands up defensively. "Or I put you into retirement!"
"Hey!"
The roughneck looked over to see a man in a tuxedo pointing a gun at him. "Look, I don't know what this is all about, but I take threatening a defenseless man very seriously. Put the gun down, and maybe you won't get hurt yourself."
"Piss off! This is a family issue!" the roughneck declared, gun still pointed at the senior, watching him from the corner of his eye. "I'd hate to get blood on that tux of yours, but if you keep sticking your--"
I'll take that as a no.
"--nose in other people's--"
John Doe didn't let him finish. At the same time the illusion of the man holding the gun at him suddenly vanished, the roughneck felt a knife slash across the back of his arm, as the real John Doe made himself known from behind. The roughneck dropped his gun and clutched his wound in pain before looking up at his attacker, screaming in rage, and lunging at him with a knife with his uninjured hand. Doe raised his hand to block him by the wrist and brought his face closer to the roughneck, were a current of electricity shot out from the mask at him. As the roughneck spasmed uncontrollably in paralysis, John Doe ducked. The Shadow Ball Grinn had been charging whizzed overhead, striking the roughneck in the chest and launching him clear out of the inn and into the street. Before the man could even process what was happening, Manaphy flew out after him and fired an Ice Beam across his arms and legs. Try as the roughneck might, he could not break the ice pinning him to the floor.
John Doe sighed and wiped off the blood from his knife as he turned to the senior behind the counter. "Are you okay, sir?
The senior took a moment to catch his breath. "Y-Y-Yes, I believe I am now. Thank you. Really. I-I don't have much to repay you, but--"
"It's okay," Doe said. "I... slept in one of your rooms without paying, so consider this payment."
Just then, a pair of uniformed men, one with a sword and another with an axe ran into the inn. Doe could see another pair of men standing over the trapped roughneck outside. It seems somebody outside had called the authorities.
"What's going on here?!" one of them shouted. "We were notified about an aggravated... assault..."
The soldier noticed Manaphy and Grinn floating near John Doe. Grinn immediately flew back into Doe's shadow, while Manaphy hid behind him, as he raised his arms defensively. Still outside and invisible, Zoroark hunched down, ready to pounce when ordered.
"Peace, sirs! That man frozen outside was responsible," the senior explained to the soldiers. "He even pointed a gun to shoot me, when this kind gentleman saved me!"
"I see..." The soldier sheathed his sword, while the other lowered their axe. "Well, I hope you will be able to answer some questions for our report. But... you..." he turned over to John Doe. Doe tensed defensively. "I don't think I've seen creatures like those two before."
"It is none of your concern," John Doe stated. Behind his mask, his eyes were scanning his surroundings, developing methods of escape, just in case.
"Are you... not from around here?" the soldier asked.
A lead?
"...Maybe," John Doe replied.
The two soldiers looked at each other. "Well if you aren't, we may be able to help you."

Lana is sound asleep on the sofa bed. Charlie is the first to awaken after hearing the knocking on the door. Charlie notices Lana is still fast asleep so he goes to the door to see what's going on.
"Hey is somebody out there to see the princess?" Charlie asked.
The guards having been around Charlie since he was a pup. The guards were use to him talking and his unique voice.
"Oh hey Charlie Sir Alvis is here to retrieve Lana,". "Oh and the guards from last night seemed awfully confused about being reassigned,". "Oh and he mentioned something about Lana's special guest,". "Did something happened last night?" the guard asked Charlie.
"Long story bud, okay tell Alvis give me a few minutes,". "Let me get Lana and the others up," Charlie told the guard.
"Will do?" the guard replied to Charlie.
The guard then tells Alvis about Lana being asleep. The guard informs him that Charlie will go ahead and get everyone ready.

Charlie went ahead to first get Lana up. Lana was still in a dead sleep exhausted after the events of yesterday. Charlie tried to lick Lana awake but she just tosses to the other side.
Charlie tried to nuzzle Lana but she started to mumble something and was asleep.
Charlie finally tried to pull the blankets off the bed. Lana lifted her hands almost on instinct and created a rift. The blankets that were pulled off of her and tossed on the floor were now right on top of her.
"Geez that usually works,". "Must have been practicing on how to do that for a while now,". "Sigh let me try the others," Charlie said going to the other rooms.
Charlie first went to Catie and Sam's room. Catie was curled up in a ball in the center of the bed. She was in her human form with her tail wrapped around her. Sam was curled up on the pillow and he was just purring away.
Charlie thought about trying to wake her up but decided against it. Catie looked way to peaceful sleeping and Charlie couldn't bring him self to wake her.
When Charlie went to close the door he heard a scream.
Lana too was startled by the scream coming from the room Morgan was staying.
"Um um um um um what are these?". "How did they get there?". "I I I never seen these people before,". "Senpai where are you senpai?" Morgan was saying.
Lana concerned that someone might have snuck into the safe house during her little trip ran into the bed room. When Lana and Charlie entered the room, Morgan was against the other side of the room and she looked like she was scared.
"Morgan are you okay?". "Where are the intruders at?" Lana asked Morgan.
"The the their," Morgan said pointing at the bed.
Charlie and Lana carefully made their way to the bed and lifted up the blankets. When Charlie and Lana lifted up the blankets, they were surprised by what they saw. On the bed appeared to be three cards each of them showing a different person on them. Lana gently picked up the cards and just stared at them.
"What what what are those cards?". "I never saw these people before and why are they cards?". "Wait is this like that card game Duel Monsters?". "Am I in the Shadow Realm?". "I am to young to be in the Shadow Realm senpai," Morgan says sobbing on Lana.
"Whoa whoa whoa what is Dual Monsters and what is this Shadow Realm?" Lana asked a frighten Morgan.
"Oh. Duel Monster it's a card game back where I come from,". "It's based off of this anime, magna, and card game called Yu Gi Oh,". "It's about these teens that summon monsters using cards and have intense battles with the summoned monsters,". "Oh but the monsters are holograms, so it's okay,". "Well most monsters anyways,". "Any how they have special duels sometimes called Shadow Duels where the place turns all and purply,". "The loser is trapped there forever, or has their soul trapped there," Morgan tells Lana.
Lana the entire time is just nodding and trying to go along with Morgan's explanation.
"Okay that's interesting but I don't think these cards are like that,". "Hmm but this is certainly an interesting phenomena,". "I wonder, can they be and are they," Lana was wondering to herself.
"Um Lana senpai your kinda of mumbling to yourself,". "Are these people who been turned into cards and are trapped for all eternity,". "Am I going to become one of them?". "Umm your a princess you wouldn't let anything happen to me right?. "Right?" Morgan frantically asks Lana.
"Whoa Morgan Senpai calm down and breath,". "First off hold onto these cards, they arrived with you so they must hold some significance with you,". "Second I want you to talk to the person waiting just outside, his name is Mr. Alvis,". "He is a close friend to mom and chances are he may know more about these then me,". "Finally, get ready because I have a feeling that mom wants to talk to all of us about what happened, okay Morgan Senpai," Lana tells Morgan as she smiles and winks.
"Okay and um you don't have to call me senpai,". "Where I come from senpai is a sign of respect for someone who is older or more experienced," Morgan tells Lana.
"Oh okay then just plain ol Morgan then got it,". "Besides I am only like a couple of years older than you so that's fine,". "Now then get ready I have to go and talk with Alvis,". "Just come on out when your ready to leave okay sweetie," Lana tells Morgan.
Lana grabs Morgan's purse which has been tosses clean across the room and places the cards in the little zipper compartment. "There all better now you don't have to worry about seeing them," Lana tells Morgan.
"Umm thank you Lana Senpai," Morgan tells Lana. Morgan then bows in front of Lana before getting her stuff together.
"Oh and um?" Morgan was going to ask Lana.
"Don't worry about you and Catie can wear anything of mine,". "I would offer it to Mr. Mario but I don't think he would wear a dress," Lana tells Morgan.
"Thank you so much Senpai," Morgan joyfully tells Lana. Morgan then places Lana in a big hug before she disappears into the bath room.
Lana while inside the room grabs a robe to toss on and brushes her hair. Lana could hear water running from the bath room.
"So Charlie how long has Alvis been waiting?" Lana asked Charlie.
"Not sure probably a while though," Charlie tells Lana.
"Oh well better let him in then,". "Don't want to keep him waiting any longer,". "Thankfully he is a patient man,". "I imagine if he was leas patient he would have busted the doors already," Lana told Charlie. Lana began to chuckle at that last statement while Charlie just huffed.
"Anyways try to get up Mr. Mario and Catie,". "I will go ahead and tell Alvis that I am awake," Lana informed Charlie.
Charlie left the room and headed towards the room Mario was in.
Lana straightened her hair and tied her robe around her. "That was one hell of a dream last night,". "I could have sworn that I was in a cage answering questions about myself,". "Oh and some red head that looks awfully familiar was having me play dress up,". "Also there was a live studio audience and a giant Pink and White bear," Lana mused to herself.
Lana shook her head almost to brush aside the notion. Lana could hear singing come from the bath room and she could here the shower running. Lana tried to make out the words but couldn't understand the language Morgan was using. Lana left the room while the water was still running.
"Good morning Jerry,". "Tell Mr. Alvis it's okay to come in,". "I and one of my guests are awake,". "Tell him the one guest had something very unusual with her,". Lana told Jerry.
Lana then proceed to but the Sofa bed away and straighten up the Sofa.
Jerry informed Alvis that Lana was awake and that he may enter.

Somewhere near Yggdrasil The first thing Raku felt was her face slamming into the dirt as she suddenly appeared at the top of a hill. This feeling quickly became all too familiar for her and her crew as the trio found themselves tumbling downhill, the sound of rattling chimes breaking the silence in the otherwise quiet landscape. After some time of this mess the group landed in a pile at the base of the hill, and as Raku slipped her way out from under her crew and got to her feet she was the first to speak up. “Alright, who screwed with the transporter?” “I haven’t been in the transport room all day...”, Khaii responded defensively as he picked himself up. “Could it have been a malfunction?” “Doubtful,” Neza responded joining the others, “I didn’t see anything wrong during maintenance the other day.” The crew’s discussion came to an abrupt end as all three turned in response to a horrific screech coming from right above them.

Alvis thanked the soldier as he walked into the safehouse. He knocked his knuckles on the door as he came in, signaling his arrival to Lana. He saw her standing up straight to face him after getting done fixing the sofa.
"Lady Lana," Alvis said with a bow, smiling pleasantly. "It's good to see you well. I trust your new guests have not caused you much trouble?"

"Not at all sir Alvis,". "One of them is in my room right now getting dressed and ready to come out here,". "Her name is Morgan and she appears to be a normal teenager,". "Maybe a couple of years younger then me," Lana tells Alvis.
"The other two guests are still sleeping it seems,". "I have Charlie checking on the other two and he will try to wake them," Lana informed Alvis.
Lana then goes to the kitchen area and grabs a tea kettle. She fills the pot with water and then places the pot on the stove. While the tea kettle is on the stove, Lana begins to address Alvis.
"Oh I do have something interesting to tell you,". "Ms. Morgan had some strange cards with her,". "She most have noticed them this morning, because she seems scared to look at them,". "The cards showed pictures of 3 young ladies and Morgan has never saw them before,". "She thought it might have to do with something from a card game from her world," Lana tells Alvis.
The tea kettle starts to whistle as steam comes from the spout. "Would you like some tea Mr. Alvis?". "Oh and more importantly would you or mom know anything about those strange cards?" Lana asks Alvis.

"Mmm. That tea smells lovely. I would gladly have some, if you're offering," Alvis said. "These cards, however... Perhaps these cards are like those the Dealers of old used in the age of wordsmiths... The same ones used to grace the world with the creatures currently seeking to end our existence to this day. Cia sometimes wondered if the summoning ritual could be considered a derivative form of the wordsmiths' magic. Could it be possible that this is a side-effect of the ritual, and while some Outlanders came with corporeal forms, others were turned into cards?"

"Hm I remember reading about something like this in one of the books,". "But it's hard to know exactly what happened,". "The only two people who would probably know is mom," Lana says.
"The other well is in a magical coma," Lana's face and voice notably drops.
"Mom came and talked to me last night after everything that happened,". "She told me about Aunt Cia,". "And all I could do was just go and cause trouble for mom," Lana says with a hint of sadness and anger.
Lana begins to sip her tea and she is trying to fight the tears from forming.
Mario
Mario is fast asleep and isn't in any rush to wake up. The bed was one of the most comfortables he has ever slept in. Mario was snoring away but Starlow was beginning to stir awake.
"Geez Mario maybe you can keep the noise down a little,". "We are guests after all wouldn't want to wake up the princess," Starlow told Mario.
Mario begins to mumble at the mention of a princess but is still fast asleep.
Starlow grumbles a little but begins to float around and take a look at the suroundings.
"I got to admit for a safe house not bad,". "Hmm maybe when we see the Princess again,". "We can talk Peach into getting a safe house,". "Maybe it would help with the Bowser problem," Starlow muses to herself.
Starlow notices something shiny coming from Mario's belongings. "Hmm the only thing that should be their is his Ultra hammer and maybe a couple of coins or power ups,". "I never noticed him with anything that shiny before," Starlow said to herself.
Starlow began to float towards the items. Starlow gets close enough to what the items were. She then got away from Mario's belongings and straight into Mario.
"Mario wake up you have got to see this,". "Mario it's Peach and Rosalina they,". "Mar," Starlow was cut off as Mario sprung awake.
"Easy there," Starlow scolded Mario.
Mario went to check out his belongings and saw two cards in his belongings. Mario picked up the cards of Peach and Rosalina and just stared at them for a couple of seconds. "Ma Ma Mia," Mario let out.
"(Do you think King Boo had anything to do with this)?" Mario asked Starlow.
"Hmm I can see why you would suspect King Boo,". "But doesn't he usually prefer to make them paintings,". "Aren't the paintings usually more crude?". "These seem to be like playing cards and are surprisingly detailed," Starlow told Mario.
Mario nodded in agreement to what Starlow said.
"Maybe we should see if Ms. Lana is a awake,". "Maybe she would know what these cards are about," Starlow said to Mario.
"Oh yeah," Mario responded.
Just then Charlie comes into Mario's room to try and wake them up.
"Oh you guys are awake?". "Good, Lana is awake and she asked me to come get you and the other guests,". "Morgan is already awake, and is getting ready,". "There's a rest room avaliable in this room,". "You can use it to get ready it could be a long day," Charlie said to Mario and Starlow.
"Oakie Dokie," Mario replied.
"Okay then thanks for the info Charlie,". "Oh by the way Charlie, umm anything for Mario to wear,". "All I see were dresses and stuff,". "I don't think he would be to comfy in them,". "Umm it can be anything really?" Starlow asked Charlie.
"Hmm well the other room Morgan is in has only more of Lana's cloths,". "Actually if Mr. Mario isn't in a rush I can fetch him some cloths while he's getting ready," Charlie told Starlow.
"Oh thank you Charlie that would be a big help,". "By the way can we ask you something before you leave?" Starlow asked.
"Sure I guess," Charlie replied.
"Mario noticed a couple of cards that strongly resemble people we know,". "I guess we didn't notice them until this morning,". "Any idea what they may be?".
Mario shows the cards to Charlie.
"Hmm that's interesting,". "It could have something to do with the summoning,". "But I am afraid not to sure of the matter,". "Well the princess is awake and Mr. Alvis is here,". "Maybe try showing them the cards," Charlie suggested.
"Okay thanks for your help," Starlow said.
"No problem, by the way you seem to be awfully calm about a talking dog,". "It took a lot of the guards and others in the palace to get use to my voice," Charlie said to Starlow.
"Oh that well where we are from,". "Talking dogs would actually be the least weirdest thing,". "Their are plenty of weird things where we are from,". "Myself I am a Star Spirit myself, and some of the older ones can grant wishes," Starlow replied.
"Hmm well Starlow and Mr. Mario thanks for the chat,". "I have to try and get our final guest awake,". "Also try to get some fresh cloths for Mario," Charlie tells Starlow and Mario before leaving.
"(That was one weird looking Chain Chomp),". Mario said to Starlow.
"Sigh those are called dogs in other places,". "Oh right why not give me the cards I can show them to Lana and this Alvis fellow,". "This way you can get freshen up,". "No telling who else ended up here," Starlow told Mario.
Mario nodded in agreement before heading into the rest room.
Starlow took the cards and left the room.
Starlow saw Lana and Alvis sitting in the kitchen and floated towards them.
"Good Morning Princess and umm I think Charlie said you were sir Alvis?" Starlow said to both Alvis and Lana.
"Mario noticed he had a couple of strange cards in his possession,". "They both resemble people we know really well,". "Any idea what they are?" Starlow asked both.

Looking up in response to the screeching the trio of aliens saw a hideous creature descending towards them. It appeared to be some sort of primate with course black fur and... wings? Questions about how such a creature could achieve flight given the gravity of this planet had to wait however as the three Avali quickly spread out to avoid its dive bomb. While the freak of nature wouldn’t be so easily discouraged and quickly changed course towards Raku, the captain was ready for it and reached for her Pulse Spear, activating it and slashing just in time to leave a sizable gash across the creature’s torso. This seemed to be a lot more persuasive, as with a roar of pain the thing took back to the skies as it circled around, looking for an opportunity to strike once again. “I don’t think so... Khaii, suppressing fire!” “Yes, Captain!” The sandy-feathered Avali drew a pistol and in the blink of an eye began firing small plasma bursts into its wings alongside Raku. The flying horror stood no chance of dodging the first few shots, and while it made a valiant effort to avoid the rest each hole punched through its wings made it harder to stay in the air. Before long the creature found itself tumbling headfirst out of the air desperately trying to fight itself. “Now, Neza!” “On it!” The creature almost managed to right itself, but as the last Avali to act hefted up a large plasma cannon and fired a shot into its chest its fate was sealed. A sickening crunch accompanied its faceplant signaling that gravity had finished the job by snapping its neck. Raku winced at the sight of the gruesome death, then looked to the sky. “Well I don’t know about you two, but I think I’ve seen enough of this planet already. Let’s just beam back up and figure out where we are.” After a moment of silence Raku’s face grew grim. “Something wrong, Captain?”, Khaii asked. “Yeah, I cant contact the ship.” After a similar attempt Neza’s eyes grew wide. “Me neither. What about you, Khaii?” “Nope, no signal.” Khaii closed his eyes and thought about about what could be wrong. “Maybe some sort of atmospheric interference? In that case we’d need to find somewhere higher up, the less air we have to transmit through the better.” Raku surveyed their surroundings, quickly spotting a massive tree towering over the ring of mountains around it. “There. Hopefully the mountains are tall enough, I’ve got no idea how we’d climb that tree. Come on, the sooner we get there the sooner we can get off this stupid planet.” And with that the three of them began their trek towards the ring of mountains, taking turns keeping watch for any more aerial assaults.

As the door is kicked open, June rapidly turns to face the noise with one hand darting to her hatchet. She freezes in that position, slowly shifting back to a neutral stance as she realizes it's not a threat. "Hello... Grant? I'm June. And this is Irving." She gives the other a quick once-over before continuing. "Sorry, the rest of us are still... did the guards check where the are? They might have gotten lost on the way here or something."

Throne Room
"Ahh, so we rode in too early then," Sterling replied. "Well, I hope you don't mind me stayin' 'round to see our new colorful cast of characters."
"So, Grant," Irving said, approaching the lad and sizing him up. "What's yer deal? June here's a knight, and I'm a merc. You said you're a trainer, but what exactly's a Pokaymon?"
"She's supposed to be a knight? I hope that's not their uniform they're wearing; her chest is completely exposed! Might as well declare 'shoot me here'!"
Not now, Gawain.
Grant opened his mouth to say something, reconsidered, thought for a moment, then shrugged. "I don't know what you guys call them in this world, but they're like the creatures you'd fight in an arena or use to help move heavy stuff. Usually they're typed into categories based on their abilities, once that breath fire are usually fire type and that sorta' thing. I guess if there is a meaningful difference between your 'pokemon' and the Pokemon in my world, it's that Arceus made them and they're descended from Mew. I guess you could think of them as... the creatures of that specific creator?" He tilted his head in thought as an idea came to him. "If a Pokeball doesn't work on the ones here, that's a pretty good metric for telling them apart, unless they already have a trainer... Even then..."
Irving crossed his arms, nodding as he listened intently to the other boy. "Hmm. Right. I get it."
He didn't get it at all.
"It looks like he needs more information. Make sure he knows swords can be Pokemon, and ice cream too."
"Gotta admit," Sterling said, stroking his chin. "I kinda expected the Outlanders to have extra arms or green skin or somethin', but you two fellers look just like us. 'Less yer blood is colored blue or you got an extra heart or somethin'. I'm not the type to dissect nobody."
Yuleian Safehouse
"Lana, that's..."
Before Alvis could attempt to console the princess, a weird, sentient orb-pixie-thing emerged from the bedrooms and hovered towards them. Alvis focused his full attention to the being. Until he learned more about these Outlanders, he intended to be on the guard in case any of them displayed any malicious intent or suspicious behavior towards his lieges. As far as the royal family was concerned, it was his job to be paranoid.
"Mario noticed he had a couple of strange cards in his possession,". "They both resemble people we know really well,". "Any idea what they are?" the pixie asked.
Alvis frowned. "...Perhaps it is best that we explain what we might know to all the Outlanders at once. After all, the other Outlanders could have found similar cards in their possession overnight."
And I dislike repeating myself.
"Queen Glinda has requested that I escort the princess home safely, and that I bring the Outlanders to the throne room, so the queen may have an audience to discuss the next course of action," Alvis explained. "...Among other subjects, these cards included."
