After walking through the forest for quite some time, you come upon a small base within the woods at a clearing. Very few buildings are set up and it seems there are Conductors with their Note Beasts training around the area. An important looking man comes walking from the largest building and stops in front of you, offering his hand. "Welcome! You must be the new Conductors. This is our humble little base."

Johnathan shakes his hand. "Thanks, it's nice to be here! My name is Johnathan."

"I'm Hurain, the guild leader. Nice to meet you. You probably want to get right into things, don't you? Follow me to the guild center. There we can get you set up and ready as a Conductor." Hurain leads you through the small base containing only a few houses for living spaces and a weapon forge. Johnathan is taken into the largest building. Inside, there's only two rooms. The main room at the entrance, which is likely where missions are accepted from the guild leader and a room to the left Johnathan is taken into. He notices there's an upstairs, but isn't quite sure what's up there. In the other room, there's a glowing, stone alter along with a large music note that glows too. "This is where most of our work awakening Note Beasts take place. That alter is where new Note Beasts are awakened and where old ones can increase their Score. That large music note is where Note Beasts are kept safely. After all, you can only have three with you in your instrument. That reminds me..." The man takes out a guitar and hands it to Johnathan. "This will be very important for you as a Conductor. Go ahead and try it out. Place that note your holding on the alter and play a song. Don't worry if you aren't sure how. It should flow naturally. Go ahead, just try it!"
(In order to awaken your monster, you must post a song. Depending on what you post, your monster can be drastically different. The type of note used also effects it.)

Alright, let's go with the Ice Palace theme from Secret of Mana, since I've been playing that a lot lately. Maybe I can get the Biting Lizard or something.

Playing the song on just his guitar at first, the note matches the slow melody. Johnathan continues to play his song as the note matches perfect timing with the guitar. As the song gets a little further in, suddenly, it's no longer just the guitar, but the entire song is playing. The room drops in temperature and Johnathan can feel a cold wind blow through as he plays. The music empowers the note as it is surrounded by solid ice. The ice grows as it freezes and becomes larger. As the song starts to quiet down, the ice shatters apart, floating a moment, frozen in the air before going into the guitar, seemingly absorbed into the instrument. Where the solid ice once was, a turtle stands. It looks like a land turtle with claws. It's not small though. This turtle is about the size of a dog. It's also made of pure ice. The pure frozen water looks almost like crystal. The crystal ice turtle walks to Johnathan and looks up to him before nodding.
"Cool! You got a turtle made of ice! It must be pretty strong, but it's definitely slower than most monsters. Don't worry about it though. I'm sure what he lacks in speed is made up in defense and power. Not a bad first Note Beast! Here you go, you'll need these too." Hurain hands Johnathan a compendium and paper with the turtle's information on it. "This stuff will help you keep track of things like information on your monsters, what enemies you encountered, and where you've been. It's pretty useful, so keep it all up to date. First off, let's get this guy a name."
Name: Level: 1 Score: 1 Element: Ice Skills:
(Give your Note Beast a name and basic skill.)

Name: Frostoise Starting attack: Ice Claw (slashes at an enemy with an icy claw). Johnathan kneels down and pats Frostoise on the head. "Hey there, little guy! Looks like me and you are gonna make quite the pair." After recording Frostoise in the compendium, Johnathan gets back up and looks at Hurain. "Alright, so now do we go practice fighting or something?"

"I guess we could, but we don't really have a real training ground or anything set up." Hurain scratches his head sheepishly and his dark blue eyes look away from you a moment. "We pretty much just got set up last week. We could always go out into the forest around us to battle some of the weaker enemies around I guess. They aren't that strong, so it should be safe. Either that or I could show you around I guess. It doesn't really matter. Whatever you want to do is fine."

"Alright, I'll show you around then! Follow me." Hurain leads Johnathan outside and the two walk around the small base. "So that building we were just in is where you'll accept missions to help the base grow stronger or to help out the people that live nearby. It's also where you can awaken new monsters using Notes and that large musical note is where you store the Note Bests you can't take with you. There's a maximum of three with you at a time. Your instrument might break if you have more. That reminds me, did you know that your instrument is how you keep your Note Beasts with you? It's a place for them to rest in when they aren't fighting. When you play their song it will release them from the instrument. Pretty cool, huh? It's like some kind of music magic!" Hurain takes Johnathan over to a small shop nearby. "This is our weapon forge. It's important for every guild. When you collect items out in the field, you can use them to create new weapons, armor, medicines, anything really. You have to make it yourself though. We found that the things made are stronger that way. It's kind of like you have a special bond with your equipment when you made it yourself. You probably understand. I remember hearing that you come from a family of whip makers. You must be pretty handy at making new weapons then. That's enough of that though. When you have time and some stuff you've gathered during a mission, you should try it out." Hurain then leads Johnathan to a small house. It only has one room, but it's pretty cozy. "This is your house. I know it's not much, but it's all yours. Feel free to move around the furniture to your liking. This is where you'll be staying when you aren't visiting other towns. Consider it your second home! Well, I think that's it. Welcome to the guild! You must be tired from coming all the way to the forest from the cold mountains. I'll let you rest a bit in your home for now. See ya!" Finishing the tour, Hurain walks out, leaving you to your room.
(Right now you get to set up your home to look however you want. Just type up a bit on what it looks like. If you don't want to, feel free to just ask for the default.)

Johnathan's house will mostly be the default, but with a rack for hanging whips from, which he puts his leather whip on. He also places a snowglobe of the mountain he lived on onto a nightstand near his bed. "There we go, just a touch of home!" Btw, do we have to always keep our note beasts stored away in our instrument when not fighting? I would prefer to have Frostoise usually follow me around.

(Note Beasts being in or out of your instrument will be optional. You can either have them all out all the time or in all the time. It was just there so that you wouldn't have trouble transporting larger monsters.)
As Johnathan looks at his home, stepping back a bit, he hears someone call for help outside! "H-Help! Someone, please! There are monsters!" Naturally, Johnathan heads outside to look at what the problem is. He sees one of the guild members under attack by a group of Slimes.
"Where did all of these Slimes come from!?" Hurain comes running in, looking around at the Slimes.
"A group of thieves! They said that our Note Alter would be theirs!"
"The Note Alter!? Johnathan, Gerand, fight off these Slimes! I'm going to go make sure they don't touch that alter! If they take that, we won't be able to awaken Note Beasts." Hurain runs off. It looks like Johnathan doesn't have much of a choice but to fight...

Chapter 1 - A New Home
Jonathan wakes up in his room as the sun shines in through the windows. Frostoise is still sleeping in his shell. As you get up and stand by the bed you hear a knock on the door. Someone must be here to talk to you. Could it be Hurain? You recall that you were supposed to head out today to the large town nearby after a walk through the woods...

Jonathan gently nudges Frostoise's shell, and after waking him up the two of them go to the door to see if it's Hurain.

Frostoise responds gently and slowly to the nudging, popping out of his shell and standing with a big yawn. He seems happy to see you. Jonathan heads to the door, opening it and to his surprise, it's Gerand standing there! He tells him to come on in and sits at the small table with him. "Sorry if I woke you up or anything. I wanted to talk about today's mission though. I'm pretty nervous to be honest. I've never been to the big town before. You've heard of Melodis, right? The place with the Grand Library and Knight Academy? Well, that's where we're going. There are so many different Conductors that go there. It'll be really busy. It's a cool place, but I'm worried about the trip there and what happened last night. There are all kinds of monsters out in the forest. I know most of the dangerous ones only hunt at night, but that doesn't mean something scary won't show up during the day. There's also those thieves. What if they attack again while we're gone? There's only four of us and if you, me, and Hurain all go, that only leaves Gizmo here by himself. He's a strong robot and all, but I don't think he can hold off a bunch of bad guys by himself. Sorry, I'm talking a lot, aren't I? I'm just so worried..."
