The group of three make their way through the woods into the eastern division of Melodis and it's quite amazing! The buildings are all a white color and there are all kinds of Conductors around. You notice Hero's Sun guards are around as well. There are multiple big stores both for Conductors and for tourists. This must be where all the shopping is done. "Alright, you two should go check out some of the shops. I'm going to make arrangements at the inn. There's a weapon forge just over there. It's fairly new, but has a good reputation. I hear the blacksmith even lets you make your own things as long as you have the gold and materials. Oh, that reminds me." Hurain hands both Jonathan and Gerand 200 gold coins! "This should get you some basic equipment. Don't spend it all in one place!" Hurain heads off to the inn and both you and Gerand are left standing in the shopping district. Let's see...there's a weapon forge over there, a tavern there, and a fancy looking restaurant nearby. All seem fairly busy aside from the forge. There's also the northern side of town and southern side of town you could walk to nearby.

Jonathan enters the forge, leaving behind Gerand. As he enters, the woman standing at the forge itself looks up from her hammering on a new axe. "Hey, welcome. What do you need?" Jonathan explains to the woman that he wants to use the forge himself. "Ah, alright. That'll be only 50 gold. Pretty nice deal, eh? Well, as long as you've got the materials, go right ahead." The woman dunks her new axe into a pool of cool water and then hand it to her customer eagerly waiting nearby. Jonathan heads to the forge and takes a look at the Thorny Vine he collected from the Tanglerose. Now, how to use it to make a whip...Jonathan has to decide what he's going to prioritize for this whip and if he's going to use any other things in making it. Is he going for speed? Power? Accuracy? Maybe he wants to use his old whip to make this new one better somehow?

Jonathan prioritized speed (this will be true for most of his whips), but only slightly. For the most part it's almost an even split in stats. He also will not use his old whip, as I would prefer to keep it just in case something happens to this one.

Jonathan creates a new whip using the vine, refining the vine itself into a nice whip. He sharpens the thorns while making them slightly smaller to increase both speed and attack power slightly. Cutting off the thorns at the base of the vine and carving out a nice handle, Jonathan manages to make a Thorn Whip! This whip should be more powerful than his original along with faster speed with the aerodynamics. Jonathan pays the blacksmith 50 gold coins and then moves on outside, admiring his handiwork. It isn't that bad of a whip. Jonathan still has 150 gold though. Looking around, there's that tavern, the restaurant, and the inn here still. Most are still busy. There's of course, the northern and southern sides of town nearby. Jonathan doesn't see Gerand nearby. He must have headed to another part of town.

Jonathan enters the inn and sees Hurain talking with the woman at the counter. She's rather...large. He seems to be getting rooms ready for the three of you. The lobby has a few chairs to sit in with some Conductors getting ready to head out to the forest. "Here you go, 300 gold for three rooms."
"Alright, here's the keys."
"Oh, Jonathan. You're here. Here, this is the key to your room. You can head there whenever. We'll be spending the night here since my meeting with Lilliana is tomorrow. You should enjoy the city while you're here. The west side of town has some nice parks and some facilities studying Note Beasts. You could also check out the Grand Library to the north. They have information on everything."

Jonathan and Frostoise make their way to the northern side of town, noticing the buildings around here seem like they've been around longer. There are a lot more tourists here as opposed to Conductors and some of them seem to be taking pictures of you and your Note Beast. This is weird. You ignore them for the most part and continue on your way to the large building on the top of a hill. The large double doors wait for you to open them...

Jonathan heads to the east and as the sun falls, the street lights come on. It seems the east side is mainly large parks and such. There is the breeding center and Training Field, but they're closed for the night. A few people walk around the park, taking a nice night stroll. It's nice how quiet it is. Frostoise seems relaxed here as well.

Filthy Casual!
You take a relaxing stroll down the path through the park. The air is cool and it seems nice after having such a busy day. You can tell Frostoise is enjoying it as well. You even take the time to sit on a nearby bench. Watching things just sort of happen is nice. As you continue your walk, you hear something strange. The mysterious sound is coming from over by a few trees. It sounds like...a song...

As Jonathan and Frostoise approach the trees, the song seems to be a little louder. Jonathan carefully looks around and reaches for something he sees shining in the plants, pulling out a glowing gem. It's green and feels calming to hold...
Jonathan places the unknown gem in his bag. Maybe it will be useful later...it's getting late. Jonathan and Frostoise decide to get some rest for tomorrow and head to their inn room for the night. Jonathan sits on the simple bed as Frostoise wanders around the room, getting used to it.
(If there's any entries in your compendium or anything you want to go over, you should do it now. Tomorrow's going to start the plotline rolling!)

You go to sleep with Frostoise comfortably snoozing nearby as well. The sounds of night fill your head as you drift...
When you wake, both you and Frostoise are at your home! How did you get here? This is...your base! You can hear fighting outside. Both of you quickly run out to check what is happening. There you see Gerand fighting off mysterious shadow creatures with Spark! They seem to be terrifying and their distorted, high pitched voice cackle with laughter as they try to kill your friend! They close in on the weakened Gerand as Spark is blasted by a dark vortex, dissolving into the air. You can hear more fighting going on elsewhere as well! Frostoise looks eager to rush in and help Gerand.
