Yeah, it's literally some giant staples that appears out of thin air. They can hold down some pretty large enemies in Mother 3, so I'd assume they could go through metal.

Steam is coming out of the mechanical spider. It seems it is unscrewing his Gattling Gun.

Angela catches up with Dodongo. Duster must not be far!

Joel shoots a laser at Chargin Chuck, who jumps while clapping, avoiding it.
Chargin Chuck: "Ha! What a loser!"
A purple beam suddenly hits Chargin Chuck, turning him into a painting.
King Boo: "YOU FOOL! NEVER INTERRUPT ME!
So... If you break this painting, not only will you have something broken, but you'll get a kill!
The honor is yours!"

Extremely hot steam comes out of the mechanical spider. Duster has third degree burns everywhere and his wrench has melted. Robo Bob goes on unscrewing his gun.
Angela arrives and drops a weird capsule on the ground. An hologram comes out.
Angela: "Healing duty!"
The hologram runs towards Duster and stops his pain.
