The area is now clear of Mini Marios. With the shadows defeated, the people trapped in the cage are freed and the town returns to its original state of not being under attack. Though it seems that both native people of this world and people from the real world are stuck here. The people that were trapped in the cage thank you as they are released. Both Mario and Merlon stay behind once everyone else leaves to speak with the party.
Mario waves to everyone and motions as if he's speaking.
Goldie: Huh? The one and only Mario wants to travel with us?
He nods.
Goldie: Well, I guess that's a thing. Welcome aboard?
Paper Mario poses with a thumbs up and joins the team.
Bloopington: GREAT BLOOPITY GLOOPITY! Did you just join us? This will be wondrous for my research. Working with the one and only Mario.
Mystic: So, hey, gramps. What's up with that weird key you're holding?
Merlon: Ah, yes, this. This was dropped by one of those things. It goes to some sort of ancient technological thingamagig. I don't quite understand it myself, but perhaps you know where this belongs. Here, I believe it is in better hands with you than with someone that hasn't got a clue what it's for.
You received the Ancient Key!
Merlon: Well, that was all. I'll be seeing you all later. Drop by the fortune house sometime. If you have any Shines, I can ask the stars to grant you new powers.
Merlon walks off and leaves the party to do what they want.
(The facilities in Wayfare Port are now available! Make sure you use your resources wisely. You all have to share them after all!)

Nax's Alternate Emblem changes his color scheme to that of a regular Rex (but with a yellow horn for sake of allies being able to differentiate him). It will not be equipped for now.
Nax: "I still need to get home... Kids shouldn't be out this long. Maybe an adult will know..."
Nax will go visit Merlon.
Gobokeh quickly moves over to Goldie. "How in the world do you understand that headline-making plumber?! I assure you that I can't get ANY interviews with Mario at this rate... This reminds me of those odd cases where the presses'd need to bring in these professional translators. The entire ordeal made me want to convert to xenophobia, except for the foreign spicy dishes. It turned out the entire thing was a fraudy operation, and that entire 'foreign embassy' was just a decorated item shop. To be perfectly honest, we should have known when the translator asked us which brand of batteries functioned best with my camera. Well, my old camera now... This is why I can't let a real scoop die! Why can you understand that Mario perfectly fine?!"

(If everyone is okay with that, I'd like to keep a Shine Sprite for Gugu when he shows up. So I'm not using one for Tulip or Bandoo for now.)

Nax, Bill, and Mystic head over to Merlon's fortune house. There, they find him waiting.
Merlon: Welcome! So, did you come for some upgrades?
Mystic: Sure did, Gramps. We need to let our real powers shine through.
Merlon: Well, I'll be taking one Shine for each of you that want a new ability.
Mystic hands Merlon a Shine and as he recites the magic words, a power begins to fill Mystic. The room fills with stars. Finally, everything returns to normal and she knows a new skill. Mystic learned Psyshield!
Mystic: This should be useful! Thanks, grandpa.
Merlon turns to Nax and Bill.
Merlon: Did you two want to use a Shine as well?
(Players may choose their own skills, but remember that the higher the power of your ability, the higher the FP cost will be.)

Heading over to the right side of town, it looks like the northern gate is now clear. Since there aren't any Mini Marios, you can pass. The boulder is still blocking the right gate though. With the Mini Marios gone, the sign on the large building has been repaired. It looks like it's a place where you can accept requests from townspeople. The bar and Merlon's house are both over here as well. There's also two houses and you can get to the rooftops using a nearby ladder. The pipe to the sewers is here too. The guards at the northern gate still stand there.
Guard: We must protect this town in the name of PRINCESS ROXANNE!
Guard: Princess Roxanne is the BEST!
