This is a game set in modern times with heavy external influences. You control an ordinary person who, by chance, receives the favor of a god and becomes a Power, infused with incredible abilities. Battles have a large emphasis on teamwork with your allies, while the world outside of combat features various locations and characters to interact with.
Name: (The preferred name for your character. A “real” or full name can also be included but is not required.) Age: (Technically any age is applicable, but most of your party members will be young adults. I would personally recommend the general ballpark of 18 to 24ish, but don’t feel restricted.) Appearance: (Give us an idea of what your character looks like. You can also describe your character’s casual/normal clothing and the look of their armor.) Holy Artifact: (This will be your character’s starting weapon. You’ll be able to use more weapons later on, so there’s no need to feel locked down to only this one. This weapon will always be available to your character and can be nearly whatever you’d like, but it cannot have any heavily “magical” or elemental traits and abilities. However, you can use your skills in unison with weapon use to buff or alter your weapon’s attacking capabilities.) Power: (This is a big one. You’ll need to determine which god your character will be beckoned and blessed by. Your choice influences the abilities you can receive; you can determine your own skills and how your character will be built yourself, but all your skills need to be tied to your character’s blessing. For example, unless you can justify it, a Power of Water can’t spontaneously set people on fire with their abilities alone, BUT a Power of Water can manipulate water in nearly any way they desire, so just keep this in mind. You can choose a god based on any aspect of life and the world; tangible, abstract, natural, man-made, fictitious (to a degree), etc. Here are examples to give you an idea. You can choose one of these or make one of your own.
Nature Enthalpy Water The Afterlife Magic Black Sorcery Thunder Machinery Robotics Gales Magnetics Light Darkness Psychokinesis Earth Life Beast Evil)
Backstory: (Divulge a bit into your character’s background. Be as simple or as detailed as you want. The game will start as your character gets called to become a Power.)
Feel free to ask any questions you have because I know some of this stuff can be confusing.

Name: Chetwyn Age: 20 Appearance (version A): Chetwyn has light brown messy hair and green eyes, and is of average height. He generally wears a long sleeve shirt, a pair of jeans, and hiking boots. His armor is a padded tunic with chainmail underneath, the focus being more on mobility than protection. (version B): Chetwyn has light brown messy hair and green eyes, a bit of a scraggly beard, and is of average height. He generally wears a light brown tunic and handmade leather boots. His armor is a padded tunic with chainmail underneath, the focus being more on mobility than protection. Holy Artifact: Blessed Bow A beautiful recurve bow made from the branch of a sacred tree, the Blessed Bow possesses far more durability than one might assume at first glance. While perfectly capable of firing normal arrows, Chetwyn prefers to create his own using his powers. Powers: Chetwyn is blessed by the God of Gales and thus has a variety of abilities based around manipulating wind. Some examples of abilities include: Wind's Blessing (Passive): Chetwyn is a fast and nimble fighter, capable of performing three moves per turn. The damage output of his attacks is balanced around this so he's not going to be dealing triple the damage of everyone else. Gale Shot: Create an arrow out of wind and fire at one enemy. Has high accuracy. Eye of the Storm: Trap an enemy within a vortex of wind, preventing them from moving but still allowing ranged attacks and counters to melee moves. Can fail against heavier enemies. Wind Jump: Leap high into the air by creating a brief updraft. Good for accessing hard to reach locations. Encircling Winds: Create a barrier of wind around one or multiple allies for several turns, reducing damage taken and deflecting some projectiles. Tailwind: Create a breeze at the party's back, increasing their movement speed. Tornado Shot: Create an arrow of concentrated wind into the middle of a group of enemies. Upon striking the ground it explodes into a violent tornado dealing heavy damage to all enemies caught in its range. Takes up all three actions for a turn. Backstory (version A): Chetwyn is a fairly average if someone adventurous young man. Not one to stay in one place for too long, he spends much of his time roaming the forest at the edge of town. (version B): Chetwyn is from the year 700, a time in which the many gods are much more well-known. Coming from a village which worships the God of Gales, Chetwyn has spent his life hoping to be the next one to earn their divine blessing. Unfortunately for him, not long after being chosen the God of Time screwed up and accidentally sends him far into the future, to a time ruled by technology in which the gods of old have been all but forgotten...
Alright, so to explain the whole version A/B thing, version B is something I thought of some time ago when planning my character as a bit of a unique character gimmick. He'd speak with a lot of thou's and thy's and verb-eth's, and could provide some amusing moments with his complete lack of understanding how the modern world works. Since I doubt that such a concept would be allowed I've also included the more mundane version A of his appearance and backstory, although if given the choice I'd pick version B in a heartbeat.

Name: Zack "Ashfog" Quentin
Age: 23
Appearance: Brown hair combed in spikes, brown eyes. His hair turn black when he uses his powers. Average height, average size/weight. Casual clothing: Tank tops with motivational quotes on them and jeans. Armor: covers his entire body, leaving only the eyes to be seen. Is completely black, making Zack quite hard to see at night. Zack could even be mistaken for an animated armor.
Holy Artifact: Harpoon Gun
Power: Volcano (Abilities would revolve around lava, magma, meteors, smoke, ashes and earthquakes)
Backstory: Zack is from a fisherman family, which hunted big fishes and whales illegaly. During a trip, Zack harpooned and killed the creature which held the Volcano Power, therefore becoming the host of the Volcano Power. Zack is unaware of that though and is about to be informed of the situation...

Name: Dia, Princess of Time
Age: 21
Appearance: Silver white, long hair that goes down to her waist and feels like silk. Blue eyes that reflect light like the night sky. She's tall and somewhat slender. She wears a gold and black, long dress that flows gracefully in the wind. She impressively fights wearing black heels somehow. A golden crown sits atop her head with a diamond in the center. She doesn't really wear any armor and relies on dodging opponents attacks or parrying them.
Holy Artifact: Rapier of Time A silver rapier that is thin, but still very sturdy. It's useful in parrying attacks and is a quick weapon to swing and use in battle.
Power: Time Haste - Dia can make the target move slightly faster than usual Slow - Dia can make the target move slightly slower than usual Repeat - Dia makes the target repeat a specific action twice in the speed it takes to do it once (Example, use repeat on Chetwyn to shoot two arrows in rapid succession) Rewind - Dia can return an object to a state it was recently in (Example, use rewind on a car that was recently scratched to repair it) Stop - Dia can freeze her target in time, making them unable to move momentarily Slow Motion - Dia can slow time around her in order to make acrobatic feats easier and to analyze a situation quickly, but this ends quickly Dia cannot actually time travel, she simply has the ability to control certain aspects of time. She focuses less on brute strength and more on dodging and parrying enemy attacks along with redirecting them. Her skills are also good for supporting allies.
Backstory: It's unknown where she really came from or who she is, but she knows she was chosen by the God of Time to carry out their work. It's suspected that she chose to forget her memories and that they contain some sort of dark secret. You'd never guess that from seeing her. She has a generally calm smile and positive attitude. Her agility combined with her intelligence and time skills make her a good leader. While not as strong on her own, she's much more useful with allies at her side.

Can I make a character blessed by the god of bacteria? So a character focused on inflicting status conditions like poison? That actually sounds pretty interesting if done properly. Looks like we still need a healer and maybe a tank depending on whether Zack is a pure damage dealer or doubles as one.

I can pseudo tank and Rewind is useful for injuries if I can get to you fast enough. But I do make a better support.

That could sort of work, but then you run into the Exorcist problem of only having single target healing and your actions are probably better spent on support like you said. Maybe someone with water powers, or perhaps plants?

Lava, magma, meteors and earthquakes should deal with pure damage and I think it was obvious that my armor is made to be tanky. Smoke and ashes attacks should help with stealth if we ever need it.

Whoa, thanks for the enthusiasm with the quick sign-ups, guys. I'm looking forward to this.
Fuzz, your character's fine. I like the skills, but hold off on those for now. I'll ask for them later, and you can reuse the ones you've posted here, but just hold on for that. Version B of Chetwyn is totally applicable to the game. To avoid "spoiling" too much (since you already sorta caught onto my ideas), despite being in the present / modern world, there are various "unclassified" regions of the world that have some very different styles of living, such as an older time period or Verian-like races. Your character's attitude can simply be explained as descending from one of those areas of the world.
Malefio, your character is completely fine; however, I will classify your character as a Power of Enthalpy instead of a Power of Volcano. I knew you'd want to have volcanic powers, so I tried to make a more inclusive category instead of just POWER OF FIRE. Your character will still be free to use any and all volcanic abilities though, like the examples you listed, so I hope that's okay with you. I also worry that if I had to write a God of Volcano, I'd accidentally make some sort of Hawaiian stereotype.
Just, your character is fine, but gahhhhhhh I'll let you guys create your skills later. Cool yah jets.
Pie, you totally can go for that power idea. Let's not call your supposed character a Power of Bacteria though. Let's go with... Power of Infection, yes?
You guys also shouldn't worry too much about creating team composition just between yourselves. I've created a lot of characters for you to experiment partnering with, so hopefully they can help satisfy. First update should be... by Thursday? By Thursday. Maybe earlier if I feel like it. Maybe. I guess I'll also mention that you can sign up at any time after the game begins, and you can also sing up multiple characters, but I recommend seeing how the game unfolds first to see if you enjoy it before creating more characters.

Alright, fine by me, even though I don't know the word "Enthalpy".
"You can have multiple characters"
Oh god. Don't say that to me without putting a limit.

Name: Tefflon Age: 21 Appearance: Tefflon has straight white hair jutting upwards in a weird hairstyle. He has a sort of slouch, and a fairly frail frame. He is tall, and has skinny limbs but about average proportions everywhere else. He has thin lips, wide black eyes, and a regular sized nose. He usually wears sweatpants and a white shirt with some sneakers. Usually, he doesn't care about his looks, but that can change. Holy Artifact: Syringe Power: Disease Backstory: Tefflon is in the business of 3-D printing, and boy does he like it! He wished to create organic materials using 3D Printers, and that was his life goal! So, he eventually printed a bacteria before his research was stopped by the government because it would be dangerous. So, he had nothing left to do in his life, so he got an office job and tried to impress the ladies. However, his background made him a perfect choice for the God of Disease's blessing.
