Logging into Vitcon Gauntlet...
Log in successful!
You appear in what appears to be a hub area for the players. It looks like a large, futuristic building. All kinds of holographic advertisements can be seen floating around for random things. The other players hang out around the area. There's a wide variety of player avatars and Links here. A little notice pops up on your user interface.
Single Battle Elimination Tournaments available!
Single Battle Round Robin Tournaments available!
It looks like a couple of tournaments are open for you to participate in at the moment. The NPC at the desk prepares to help people sign up and waves to you. It looks like she's trying to get players to come and sign up.

Let's start with the basic and join Single Elimination.
I'm gonna ask the lady what "Robin" means though.

ChanMan signs up, talking about how Canadians should be exterminated because of their low ability to create memes and shitpost.

You ask what Round Robin Tournaments are. "A Round Robin style tournament is a style where all participants take turns battling each other. Once everyone has fought every other player, their wins and losses are totaled. The two with the highest amount of wins and least losses fight each other one last time and the winner of that match wins the tournament." Malefio and ChanMan sign up for the Single Elimination Tournament. "You're registered for the tournament! Please take a seat and wait for your first match to begin."

Malefio sits on one of the surprisingly comfortable chairs. A little symbol is above his head, indicating he's waiting for a match. ChanMan has one of those symbols as well. Someone sitting next to Malefio is scrolling through his menus. He has the symbol as well. His username appears to be DinoMan. You notice he has a T-Rex in his Links.

(Huh, for some reason I thought this was going to be closer to EBR with single fights, not tournaments. Copying abilities may not work as well as I planned if there are going to be multiple fights in succession.)

Well, how does this sound for a compromise?
You can copy abilities of opponents you defeat in a tournament, but lose those abilities you copied at the end. However, if you gained an ability you liked, you can trade in your reward and instead of winning Credits, you can directly win the ability you want. Sound fair?

That sounds reasonable. It's just like a real Mega Man game, I can learn a bunch of useful abilities only to conveniently forget them by the start of the next tournament. Sign up for the Round Robin, this early in I need to build up a good list of abilities and by having more matches I can either have a better opportunity to find something I like or get more credits to buy an ability like Storm Tornado (although something that good probably isn't available yet) and maybe some other upgrades.

ChanMan Vs. RoboMech
Razzmatazz offers her friendship to Joel. "Friendship? I do not understand this concept. Prepare to be eliminated." Joel quickly deconstructs a nearby crystal and puts it back together as some form of laser blaster.
