You walked into the suburbs. You decide to check out the house on the left side of the street, one that wasn't tinted red with blood. As you walk up the stairs, you prepare your bat in case you encounter a zombie. As you open the door, you knock on the wall with the bat. You wait to hear for the sound of one of those creatures, and you hear something coming from the bathroom. You walk up to the bathroom door, bust in and quickly take down the only walker in the entire house with your kitchen knife. You then decide you need to quickly scavenge what you can find in the house. Afterwards you leave and rush home.
You find
Medium water container (5 water, weighs 5) 3 cans of food (3 weight) Hooded Sweatshirt (Weighs 2) A Crowbar (1 weight)
You have 8 open slots, take what you want and then update your stash.

You wander through the suburbs, looking to go to the house next to the one you were at yesterday. The streets are full of those zombie things, but thanks to your sweatshirt you blended into the suburbia background very well. You entered the house in search of goods, preparing to hit any zombie you encounter with your trusty bat. The house seems empty, but there is a room at the end of the house that has a door shaking. You hear moans behind it and know that there are a few zombies behind the door. You move a dresser in front of the door to block it in case the zombies managed to break through. You walk through the rest of the house, grabbing what you can, and leave before sundown.
You found 6 bottles of water 4 cans of food 1 gas can (5 units of oil, 2 weight) 18 9mm ammo (1 weight) Map and Compass (1 weight)
You have 10 open slots, take what you want and update your log.

Looking in the Item Compendium, the single unit items don't seem to take up space, so I'll take it all? (Tell me if this is wrong?)

I didn't mark it, but single unit items take up 1 space each (I think you are referring to the bottled water and cans of food right?). I'll update it in a minute.

You begin searching the woods for cabins and goods. As you search around, you see an individual kill a zombie with a hammer, and proceed to go into 3 campers. You consider going and confronting the individual, but because you fear you are not well equipped, you decide to move on. As you wander through the woods, you stumble across the remains of a hunter's tent. The hunter has disappeared, and it looks like he isn't going to be back any time soon. You go through his supplies, take what you want, and head home.
You found 1 can of food 1 bottle of water 1 Secondary Weapon Holster (2 weight) 1 Colt Pistol (2 weight.) <Don't ask why he was hunting with a pistol, I don't know why either> 28 rounds of .45 Ammo
You have 10 open slots, so you take everything.

(Don't forget to update your stash. Just account for 3 days worth of food and water being eaten and drunk.)

As you approach the L.L. Bean (if you guys don't know what this is, it is a outerwear store that sells hunting stuff, camping stuff and weapons.) You see a horde of Zombies in front of the door. There are easily 20 or more. You decide to be smart about this, and sneak around to the side of the building where there is a ladder to the roof. You climb up the ladder and look down through the glass ceiling into the store below. The store itself seems rather quiet, with only 10 or so zombies in the entire store! You decide to go for the camping section to see if you can find a better bag, and as luck would have it, that area is the most clear of zombies! You drop down and dispatch of the two zombies quickly with your Crowbar. You then grab what you see around you before climbing back up to the roof and getting out of there.
You found A Survivalist backpack (3 weight, 16 slots) A Fire Starter (1 Weight. A tool you can use to start fires.) 3 cans of food 2 bottles of water
You have 10 open slots, so can take all if you want.

You see the familiar sight of the department store in the distance. You decide to move to the spot you dropped in yesterday, but your plan this time is to prioritize fuel and tools and the essentials. When you drop down and move to the tools area you see 3 walkers. With your experience, you dispatch of all 3 without breaking a sweat. You grab what you see lying around and move out quickly without any further issues.
You found 2 Water bottles (they were cantines!) 4 Cans of food (They were packaged MREs!) Map and Compass Hunting Knife Hiking Bag (2 weight, 12 slots)

You go about your usual routine of going to the next house on the left side of the street. Here, you find 2 zombies. Because of your skill, you quickly dispatch of the zombies and look around the house. "Man, it seems there is less and less loot every day. At least this compass I have helps a little bit." (As time goes on, loot will become less and less frequent in areas that are less infected.) You grab what you see lying around, and get out quickly.
You found 2 water bottles 3 cans of food 2 gas cans (2 weight, 5 units of oil each) 24 .45 ammo (found because of compass and map)
