Jonathan stares dumbfounded at the strange combination of weapons in Erika's hand for a moment before speaking up.
"That's, um... Why don't we get you started with something a little simpler? Perhaps just one sword to start, then once you've mastered that add a second and eventually the chain?"
He then goes over to Varon.
"Essentially, although with a bit more force than just a poke. You'll want to hold it like this..."
Jonathan pantomimes holding a spear of his own with one hand chocked up towards the front and the other further at the back,
"...and then quickly thrust forwards like this."
Jonathan lunges forwards with the imaginary spear.

Varon tries to copy Jonathan's movements, but it's definitely more slow and less powerful. He starts practicing on the dummy, but he seems clumsy...
(I don't have a skill using my spear for now, so I assume Varon fails at using it)

After fully examining her bow, Melody, holds it in firing position to the best of her knowledge.
She draws it back, and arrow at the ready. Closing one eye, she focuses and tries to keep her breathing to a minimum.
She let's go of the the arrow and it flies towards a dummy...

(It's fine, just so long as she doesn't also get an ice turtle or use it in quite the same type of moves as him such as grabbing and kicking enemies and stealing weapons/parts. If nothing else it should make it easier for him to help her since she's using a weapon he's been around all his life.)

Varon tries to hit one of the dummies, but clearly misses and fails to properly use the spear, dropping it in the process. Jill manages to hit the dummy that Varon missed with a lash from her whip. Jack follows up with a slash from his sword before the same dummy is hit by an arrow from Melody. Erika is about to switch her weapon out, but Leafet manages to convince her this is definitely the right weapon for her. She holds the swords by the handles, still conencted to each other by the long chain, coiled up on her back. She hits the same dummy everyone else was attacking with a simple sword slash and it falls over, breaking apart. "I-I did it!"
Giant Snake

The Giant Snake is released from its cage and the party gets in position to fight it. Edgar smashes his demon claw into the Giant Snake and Erius takes out his lance, spinning it around, before jumping forward and landing a hit on the Giant Snake as well. Rocky runs up to the Giant Snake and kicks it with his hooves.

(Just come up with a skill like you did with your Note Beasts.)
Noting Varon's failed attempt at using a spear, Jonathan instructs him to try performing some practice thrusts every now and then when he has some free time, reassuring him that for most people learning to use a weapon takes time. In the meantime, multiple dummies are set up and the group is instructed to trygiving their Note Beast commands to attack the dummies, or in Varon's case to do so using his own abilities.

Melody sighs.
"Diana, use Aqaurius Swandive on that dummy, please!" Melody says this with surprising force.
Diana bows. "As you wish".
She performs her sttack on the dummy.

Varon closes his eyes and concentrates.
"My own abilities or Laslou's... Hum... What was he able to do... Ha... Yes... Those sharp feathers he used for playing darts.
How do I..."
Varon opens his eyes, then swings one of his wings in an arc, sending three feathers at the Dummy. They pierce the dummy's armor a bit, sticking on it.
"Three feathers? Oh... Laslou could only throw one at a time...
What else could he do.
Ah!
Yes!
That!"
Varon swings his wing again, sending a powerful gust of wind into the dummy, making it bob.
"Ha! Yes! This is exactly like his!"

(Oh...I'm fighting myself? Sounds typical.)
Erius quickly jumps forward, jabbing at the Giant Snake with his lance. Edgar then comes up from behind and lands a shadow claw on the Giant Snake, dealing more damage. Rocky launches a boulder into the Giant Snake as well before it jumps forward and bites Erius, poisoning him in the process.
"AHH!? Poison!? What do I do when I'm poisoned!?"
"Use an antidote or a spell that can get rid of it, you idiot." Edgar takes out a purple potion and throws it to Erius before he drinks it. The poison seems to be cured.
"It worked!" Erius lets out a cheer before stabbing at the Giant Snake again and stepping back in a defensive stance. Edgar tears a dark rift open with his claw and walks into it, avoiding any attacks this round. Rocky lands another powerful kick on the Giant Snake before it quickly wraps itself around Erius. "BWAH!?"
A rift is torn open behind the Giant Snake before Edgar walks out and slashes it with his demon claw. "That was a bind. Binds can be broken when you attack the object causing a bind. Are you sure you've fought at all before?"
"I said I had a little experience. But I've never really fought anything this big before...haha, whoops!" The Giant Snake sweeps its tail across the ground and both Rocky and Edgar jump over the attack dodging it. Erius, however, trips and falls over.
"And that is what we call a stun. You'll lose your action and be open to attacks, so avoid getting hit by those. Defensive skills like my rift are good for those. Although some attacks can be avoided using simple commands..." Rocky launches another boulder at the Giant Snake before Edgar smashes his claw in the ground and sends out a shadow wave, finishing it off. "That's how you fight."

"Whoa, I feel stronger!"
"That is what we call a level up. You'll not only feel stronger, but be stronger. Your attacks will do more damage and you can take more hits. You level up by gaining experience in battles. You can also use Experience Crystals to level up, which are sometimes found out while exploring or offered as rewards for completing missions. There's another special form of level up that we call Rank Up. Only Note Beasts and Beastmen are capable of Ranking Up, however. It requires very rare gems, but I hear the results are incredible. Not only will physical appearance change, but elements might change and power increases drastically. However, level will be reset and it will be more difficult to level up. I hear it's almost like becoming a new person in a way."
"That was a lot of information. Sorry, but I kinda spaced out there! Can you repeat that?"
"No." Edgar walks up to B-Ball Mage. "I suppose this victory will suffice as our training for now?"
Erius rides Rocky around B-Ball Mage excitedly. "WE BEAT A BIG SNAAAAAKKKKEEE! That was like a rank 7 boss monster, right? Right?"

Erika stares down the dummy, determined. "L-Leafet! A-Attack...?" Leafet stares at Erika and seems puzzled. "Am I doing it wrong...?"
