Are the skeletons lined up with the pillars? Or would knocking them down just make noise?

They aren't all lined up. You could probably take down a few by knocking them down, but there's quite a few more. It would take some coordinating to knock down multiple pillars and take them all out.

Tai will focus, outstretch his arm and aim towards the farthest skeleton. He'll use Possession on it.

Tai runs behind a nearby pillar before throwing his hand up at one of the farthest skeletons. He activates a possession, suddenly controlling it. It doesn't seem to have much in combat abilities aside from throwing bones and scratching opponents.

Would it be strong enough to push over a pillar?

It's all bones. Nope.

Hm. If he were to attack another skeleton would they target his possessed body or Tai directly?

They'd probably attack the skeleton that attacked them considering they don't know where Tai is right now.

Alright, then have the skeleton attack some nesrby allies. Then Un-posses it and possess anothrr onr in a different spot. Sttsck with it and try to draw the crowds attention away and mive them out of the hall if possible.

You control the skeleton, having it smack another skeleton before running into the next room. You tediously repeat the process until all of the skeletons have smacked each other and run away. You then head off into the next room, finding, unsurprisingly, all of the skeletons that you sent in there wandering around and stuck together like a pack of sardines. They've all become compacted together and stuck in the floor, which you assume was probably a gaping hole before or a trap door or something of the like. Looking up, you see a large chandelier and two doors on separate balconies. None of those things seem reachable at the moment, but it may be worthy of note later on. You head across the skeleton platform and into the only set of doors ahead of you.
Proceeding into the next room, you find it's incredibly tall without much room on the sides. Bookshelves like the walls and multiple books can be seen in them. Parts of the bookshelf move in and out of the wall and floating heads that resemble Medusa seem to flit about through the room, watching for intruders. There's a door up high, but you'll have to climb there somehow.

At a first glance, you can't really tell if they're random or follow a pattern, but you can probably watch and try to find out. Though you'd have to deal with those floating medusa heads first.

Watch them carefully and analyze for a pattern first. Then we'll figure out how to proceed.
FIX THE INJUSTICE.
