Everyone's avatars appear in a featureless room. "Alright, so with all the Q&As for different games I thought that maybe we should have one for Vitcon as a whole. No characters (well, I suppose our avatars are technically characters of the shameless self insert variety), just us. So to start, what thought process do you generally go through when making a character? I personally tend to start with weapon and/or fighting style that I want to use, then go from there with a backstory, appearance, and personality. For instance, with Lupis I started with a spear user, then decided that I wanted him to be a wolf Verian, that being a farmer thematically fits for a spear wielder due to the design of the weapon, and that growing up on a farm would make him a hard worker while his species lends itself to being protective of his loved ones."

Oh, I normally start by thinking of their role in the story or game. For example, I made Layor because I wanted a refugee princess that was on the run to join the party. I also added in a character like Darkus to act as a tutorial guide for the players.
When I make my player characters, it's usually either trying to fill in party roles or creating a character that is flexible in story so I can adapt them to whatever situation I need.

I usually don't have something for making characters.

I remember a wise dragon once told me. Characters are a part of you, and that each contains a little part of you. All my characters in a sense represent me in some way. Personality, quirks, behaviors, most of them especially the ones I use in LK, Dating game are more or less a part of me.
I tend to use sword welders because for some reason I always tend to prefer swords over every type of weapons. I think manly because I love RPGs and the like and when ever I get a choice of weapons in a game swords just seem funner if that's a word
When I am just making a character for a non serouis reason I either go laid back baddass who dosent like to do much but can if they have too. Overly friendly social butterfly,

My favorite weapons are chains and whips. Good range, multiple uses, and fun sound when you hit an enemy with it.
What does everyone else like to use to smite their enemies with?

I just cry a lot.
I'm not really good at creating characters, so what I do is I make the start really simple and just think of characters in games and movies and other stuff that I genuinely enjoy. I really try to focus on the unique, interesting traits that characters have and think about why those traits make that character so memorable/appealing to the audience. Once I can comprehend some form of recent logic behind it, I try to work backwards and create unique characteristics for a character... although it usually ends up being pretty close to a common archetype. Once I've generated enough building blocks for a character, everything else pretty much falls into place, depending on the creativity basis. But, uh... I usually think my characters aren't all that great, so I take every chance I can get to use non-original characters like Kirby and Dante. Ever wonder why I always do profile stuff like AwkwardAkuma but never try stuff like AwkwardKick or AwkwardTab? Actually, it's just cause Akuma's rad.

I honestly have no idea... I don't see any pattern in my character to be honest.
For Snorx, I started with his job as a human. For Zack, I started with the abilities I wanted him to have. For Julia, I just wanted to use a character I created before but stopped using. For Balynka, I started with how she looked like. For Yzza, I started with her backstory. and so one.
I know the first question I always ask myself is: "What kind of character didn't I do yet?"
And that question is how I ended up making Tulip loyal good, or play as a literally insane character (Kendra).

I made Soup for a Hunger Games Fanfiction where you submitted characters. He got pretty far.

Favorite weapons are ball'n'chains, harpoons and double-bladed axes.
For LARPING, I prefer hammers though.

I really love random hodgepodges of weapons. Using literally everything to cover any situation in unexpected ways. I think it's mostly Capcom games that gave me that mentality...

My favorite weapons are definitely spears. The range of a staff, the sharpness of a knife, and a sort of primal simplicity.

I like swords just something about charging into battle with a blade by your side and going all out.
Yet I also seemed to be drawn to characters that can cast spells and weild swords.

I like guns, swords, bows, and just unique weapons are cool.
For creating characters, I usually think of who I want to start as and how I want them to grow and who they'll become. I sometimes go for a theme(Tai, It'll be apparent later), and sometimes will just do whatever I feel like(My Verse Characters).

ALL of my characters are based on a trope or cliche.
for example. Mike is based on the trope of characters with an extremely important role with simple names
Rix is based on gary stu characters
and oblivion is based on the silent badass trope just to name a few
