Party in Tokyo-3: Evangelions 01 and 02 and Herkimer Diamond VS Israfel-White and Israfel-Orange!

“That is some fine work!” declared Herkimer Diamond as she stared up at the now upright Eva 01. As opposed to the pathetic, mostly defensive position it had been in on its back, Shinji's machine seemed like it might actually be doing something that could win a fight! Yeah, it was, uh... Charging. Sort of! If you count walking slowly and cautiously towards an opponent to be charging. Which lots of people totally would! It was, at the very least, enough confidence to bring about a little chance for distraction. For there was another giant robot fairly nearby, and it too was fighting a specimen of Israfel. That, however, was where the similarities ended, as this unknown red Evangelion wasn't 'charging', it was layin' the beat down!

Yes, Herkimer Diamond gazed on with cute, blocky 'stars' in her eyes, just like little Steven. This was her chance to view Asuka fighting for the first time since she'd discovered that NERV had gotten another child besides Rei Ayanami. In contrast to Shinji's 'fighting style', which was mostly based around the weaponry that NERV provided to him along with ineffective flailing, the slender, red and white colored giant was throwing fists! Not just a bash here or there mixed in, we are talking full on, knuckles into chest pounding as it made the half-Angel referred to as Israfel-White its bitch, hook after cross! “Yes! That must be the true power of an Eva!” Herk squealed with joy after saying this, as she started miming punches with both of her arms that weren't carrying the centurion-style shield. This rather cute display continued even as a sweet right hook sent I-W to the ground with a booming crunch.

“Okay, I think I got the wrong idea about Evangelions originally! These things are the coolest!” From time to time the young woman glanced over at Shinji to make sure he wasn't dead, but watching the apparently girl-piloted other Eva kick an Angel while it was down was far more important. See, the equation being used assumed that Angels suffered pain, (which they did), as well that that AT fields could interact and screw with each other (which they were), and from there concluding that an Evangelion's foot, slamming into where a human being's ribs would be on Israfel, would cause pain and suffering on the part of the Angel. Moreover, this was extrapolated upon to suggest that additional kicks would continue to ramp up the level of suffering, until it was fully weakened to have its crystal broken. “I still want to know what those big orbs are! These definitely aren't gems like me.” She mused pretty simply, drawing no substantial conclusions whatsoever. Mostly just surface level shit, eh?

As for the surface of Eva 01, it wasn't handling the fight half as well as the brutal pilot of 02. He seemed to have knocked down Israfel and acquired that rifle that they'd equipped his machine with, but he was now being pelted by laser beams! Yes, it seemed that the angular and very horrible Israfel-Orange was also able to discharge some sort of actual laser beam. HD didn't like the look of that even a little bit, and even before she realized that these beams exploded on contact with his AT Field, she had already started running in with her shield. Thankfully, her stocky and powerful legs were plenty fast enough to position herself, and totally strong enough to propel her into the air with a huge leap! Memories of using Steven's mother's shield swirling through her mind, she flung out both of her right arms, holding steadfast against the stream that the towering monstrosity fired at Shinji.

“I've got you, Shinji! Nobody's breaking through my scutum!” Her voice boomed with confidence and belief that this was true, and indeed the shield seemed strong enough to protect against the much-larger beam! It had even expanded, leaving the young gem shocked and astounded! “Oh my god, this is the best! I could do this all day!” Wait... Could she? Looking down, Herkimer realized that she had barely even begun the process of falling after her jump, if she even had. She was floating in midair as she defended against the last of that beam. “We're...”

I've got this voodoo child in-veined on me, I'm gonna use my power to ascend!

Even greater joy flooded into the fused being as she cackled with glee and yelled, “I'm flying!” She was, too! Another beam was coming from Israfel, but it didn't matter! Instinctively swimming through the sky without any wings, she tried heading further upwards, to very minimal avail. “Well, I'm floating!”

Thanks to the defensive assistance from Herkimer Diamond, Shinji was able to fire a pepper of bullets, which the Angel didn't seem to be able to block fully since his power was being focused into beams and not its field! He was actually doing it, and apparently had the guts to advance through the distance between them and smash his foe with the rifle butt! From there, 01 threw the rifle down and grabbed Israfel in a bear hug, pulling it over towards where 02 was fighting.

“Yes! This is so perfect! Alright, time to get out of here. My work seems to be plenty complete, and I got some great recon too! So... dance! Woo! Nothin' left for me to do but dance!” As she descended, Herkimer Diamond sang the song that had worked to fuse Steven and Logan, and started making her way towards Mt. Fuji. Her next stops were the Fuji Warp Pad, Beach City, and... “Oh. I guess that's it. I'm not the one going to Newark.” As she realized this fact, she got that pitlike sensation in her stomach and fell face first the rest of the way to the ground. Ouch.

Steven Universe's Home on the Beach (early AM)

The lovely humming of the Warp Pad sung out, and out of the beam of light appeared the four armed shieldbearer. Herk glanced around – the lights were still off, meaning that the Gems were surely still off on whatever mission they'd headed out on. That was a relief. Still, the overwhelming sense of loss was unbearable as, with a wistful frown, she began glowing. This was followed by her separating into the adult and the young teen that she was composed of. Thankfully, neither of them seemed to inherit her emotional state, as both of the dudes were pretty satisfied that it had gone well.

“Logan, Japan is awesome! Giant mountains, giant robots, giant monsters! We gotta go there someday!” Steven quickly enveloped Logan in a tight, affectionate hug.

“Maybe we'll go there on a plane.” The ambassador offered hopefully, before adding,”I can't thank you enough, though. But there's, uh, something we should talk about before I head out.”

“Is it about those Japanese robots? I want it to be.”

“It's about Fusion, Steven.”

Choice Time!

>”Don't tell the Crystal Gems we did this.  They wouldn't take to it well at all, especially not the part where Herkimer Diamond blocked giant death beams.”

>”Don't tell anyone we did this.  If the United Arms find out I played hookie when I was supposed to be launching on their behalf, and that on top of that I fused with a half-alien lifeform to go somewhere that the law is after me for a person with no loyalty to the Arms, I'm screwed.  They might even court martial me.”

>”It was incredible!  Does it feel like that when you're with Connie?  Can I fuse with the other gems, too?”

>”Nevermind.  See you.”

Additional Choice Time!

>Logan made the decision right then and there that the UA could never know about Herkimer Diamond.  They might not understand, and he could not jeopardize his standing.  He would head to Newark and say he had delays which were unavoidable.

>Logan made the decision right then and there that he needed to come clean to the UA about having fused with Steven.  As long as he was forthcoming about it instead of being secretive, it would be fine.  First though, Newark.

>Logan made the decision right then and there to make the decision later, based on whether he was still able to save Newark, New Jersey.

3 for the first one because no matter how much we probably don't want it to come out. It will somehow someway this will come out. Might as well own up to it instead pf hiding it.


2 for the second choice. Most importantly might as well tell UA about the situation but first after going to Newark and kicking ass there. We are pretty good standing with them so they would understand.

The difference is that Steven revealing what happened with the Holopearls didn't run the risk of UA agents trying to replicate the effects of the gems or worse yet attempt to capture them and forcibly fuse. If we have to tell anyone I suppose we could tell the other gems (I don't think they'd want to fuse with us, though), but telling the UA all about the gems and how they can fuse with ordinary people to give them superpowers could end REALLY badly.
