---Quick Story---
Song Tuners existed for ages. Always a single Tuner for an island. This is always the way it was. Tuners know something others don't: every single object or entity in the world has music contained inside it. This music is the balance of the world. Without it, the world would simply be a grey void.
Now, the Tuners also have a job. Sometimes, the musical energy runs out from an object or a person. The Tuner's vocation is to fill such an object with musical energy again. Unfortunately for entities, running out of musical energy is known as "Death". A Tuner can put musical energy inside a dead entity, but it won't be the same person as before.
Why musical energy expires was never known, but it only seems natural. Even Tuners die one day. For many generations, they did their job peacefully, without a care in the world...
Then the Song Eaters were discovered... These creatures coming in many shapes and forms came out of portals and started absorbing the musical energy out of everything. We discovered them, but they also quickly discovered us. Once they killed their first Tuner, the Song Eaters started hunting them down, devouring everything in their path, leaving empty grey islands.
We had to do something. The Song Eaters needed to be stopped. It was clear we couldn't defeat them. Tuners are not combattants, Song Eaters were pure force of destruction. Another way was found. We created special crystals, which can contain an infinite amount of musical energy. If thrown into an island's musical core, these crystals protect an island from the Song Eaters. They won't even see the protected island and if by pure chance they end up approaching it, a force field will repel them. The crystals were quickly sent to as much islands as possible.
Jumping to today. You, young one, just became the new Song Tuner of your island. Some islands are still unprotected. Others don't even have the luxury of having a Tuner anymore. Your mission if you accept it: join a group of explorators which will work to bring a crystal in the musical core of these unprotected islands. Beginning by your own islands of course!
---Gameplay---
Music: Everything has a theme, including yourself and your familiar. You can put any theme you possess into any empty grey object or entity. Putting music in a grey object will change it's form. You add songs into something by playing the song on your instrument.
Musical remover: Only grey objects can have a song put inside them. This is why you need a musical remover. You can remove a song from something with it. You can do it freely on any object. Living beings have to be willing to have their song removed. Note that this won't be counted as their songs expiring, so they will not die in the process. They WILL change form, but they will be the same person.
Familiar: Every Tuner has a familiar to protect them. Some are made to transport their masters, others to heal them, others are even made to fight.
Musical container: An orb every Tuner receives. Every song removed with the remover will go inside the container for a single use. You can have the same song multiple times in your orb.
Combat: You are not a combattant, that doesn't mean you can't defend yourself. Fighting is a really stupid decision for you to take, but you can always use your cunning and wits and fill grey objects with a song to get rid of enemies. Note that even if your familiar is a combattant, he probably won't be defeating anything alone. Your weapon is your brain. Now, you might not be able to directly fight back, but you're still a person. Punching something in the face is always an option. If an hostile creature is holding an ally, you can run and tackle it. Everything is possible. Just remember enemies know how to fight and you don't.
Ordinary deaths: Tuners have so much musical energy, that it's almost impossible for them to die. Attacks will not hit them directly. Note that they will still take the effects of an attack. Pain for example. Receiving too much pain will result in being KO'd. This is where death comes in play. You technically can't die, but being unconscious is a severe matter. Leave someone unconscious for too long (I'm thinking 24 hours in-game) and they won't wake up. If your fellow teamate is unconscious, make sure he has the proper care as fast as possible. The only other way to die by normal causes is hunger. If you dun goof real hard and get yourself trapped somewhere with no hope of being saved, you will die of hunger. This shouldn't happen, just know that it can happen though. Your familiar can die. Never forget that.
Song Eaters: The last way for a Tuner to die. Other enemies might just KO you, but Song Eaters directly absorb you musical energy, your life force. Heed my words: DO NOT TRY TO DEFEAT A SONG EATER. YOU WILL DIE IF YOU DO THAT. There will always be enough grey objects for you to manage an escape.
Panic Theme: Panic Themes will have extremely powerful effects. Note that this is a last resort ability. Your panic theme will have severe consequences (revealing your position to Song Eaters, using the lifeforce of surrounding NPCs, causing an uncontrollable cataclysm, etc.)
