Don't enter the passcode just yet. I'd like to figure out his reasoning on this one first, especially since I can just use the Sonic Screwdriver to open it anyways.

"It's simple! I simply read the secret passcode hidden on the wall right there." He points to a spot in the wall and as you look over at it, he places his magnifying glass in front of you, revealing a hidden code written on it. It seems his magnifying glass is capable of revealing hidden clues and objects.

Why someone would enter their code on the wall near the keypad aside that reason checks out, so enter it.

You walk up to the keypad and enter in the code. The door flashes and opens up, revealing what looks like ancient ruins inside. The detective looks excited about this. "I've done it again! ONWARDS! TALLYHO!" He charges off inside without even waiting for you. Both you and Lupis then head in after him.

Spooky
Spooky floats into the village, seeing that pretty much everyone is inside since it's blizzarding out. There's a bakery, and inn, and many houses here that you can see. But nothing else really stands out to you aside from that.

Spooky floats inside the inn, feeling a sudden burst of warmth outside. She sees that the blizzard stopped and it became much warmer as all the snow starts to melt away. She ignores it and moves on inside the inn. There, she sees a few penguins wandering around. At the front desk, a penguin wearing an apron stands and looks ready to help out. Spooky looks around the lobby and sees a red penguin, what looks like a boy in high school wearing a trench coat, and a girl with a rapier. The girl with the rapier looks like she's annoyed about something.

Spooky is floating to the counter.
"I'm sorry, I'm looking for someone named Dia."
She talks loud enough to be heard in the whole room and looks at everyone's reaction.

When Spooky asks for someone named Dia, she notices the girl with the rapier look up at her. "Yeah, that's me. Did you want something?"
