Well, let's look at the possibilities...
1: You all manage to defeat Ifrit before he can self destruct, gaining him as a summon. This will be a very powerful fire element attack that damages all enemies. Ifrit could help out a lot against the Dark Lords as it's an ability they cannot copy and it would also be very helpful in the final battle.
2: You run from this battle, causing Ifrit to self destruct. Your characters will all be garunteed safety, but you will not get the summon. Also, Lower Mt. Vul, Mid Mt. Vul, Upper Mt. Vul, Inner Mt. Vul, and Forgotten Mine will be destroyed along with any requests that ask you to go there. You will be able to access Death Crater afterwards.
3. You fail in the battle against Ifrit, causing him to self destruct. Every battle participant will die except Phoenix and Tyra and you will not get the summon. Also, Lower Mt. Vul, Mid Mt. Vul, Upper Mt. Vul, Inner Mt. Vul, and Forgotten Mine will be destroyed along with any requests that ask you to go there. You will be able to access Death Crater afterwards.

I think we can take Ifrit. We have what, 8 to 10 people on Phoenix right now? I think we can destroy a nearly beaten enemy with our powers combined.

So it's a tie. Run the RNG!
The RNG said you were going to fight it!

I know that I want to fight it, but is it really fair to have RNG after only two votes? I'm getting that summon though, even if I don't get it

We gotta go for everything now! Kick will use Electro Shock in combination with Aven and others. Reese will strike with the Vulcan Hammer at the same time too.

One voted yes, one voted no, and one didn't care. That's a tie. I can't make people change their minds on what they want either (since that's not my job), so I used RNG to decide. It's like flipping a coin.

I swear to god, if we all die here because Ness wanted to fight it… Lupis will use Double Attack or Focus Attack, whichever is stronger (also depending on whether he could use Focus Attack in time) and Sylvia will give it everything she's got with Water Blast. If possible, is there any way to have Phoenix attack as we close in? I have a terrible feeling about this...

"Alright, looks like we're going to fight it! Here we go!" Phoenix begins to fly toward Ifrit as Sylvia and Tren use Water Blast, hitting Ifrit. The giant beast ignores the attack as it gathers up more energy. By the time Kick and Aven fuse Electro Shock in their weapons, Ifrit is surrounded in a nearly blinding light. With the word to go for the final charge, Lupis focuses in on Ifrit, watching carefully as Gray strikes first. He cuts into Ifrit at the points weakened from the Water Blast as Kick and Aven follow up by zapping Ifrit with their electrified swords. Reese then bashes Ifrit over the head with her Vulcan Hammer and Yura looks over to Lupis.
"Are you ready? Let's finish this together." Using her acrobatic techniques, Yura gracefully jumps around on Ifrit slashing at him with her knife until leaping up high in the air. "Now, Lupis!" Both her and Lupis quickly dash forward, slashing right through Ifrit as the beast roars in pain. The bright light around him disperses as he falls forward, defeated. Ifrit's body dissolves away into a small, red light. This light forms into a small flame. The little fire floats down to the alter on the volcano, waiting for someone to approch. Out of breath, Yura looks over to Lupis. "We did it. We won this together." She sits down on Phoenix's back with Lupis as the group looks on at the flame, lighting up the night on the volcano.
"Well, it looks like the battle is over. That was close. Ifrit's spirit is still here though. It looks like he wants to speak with one of you. Only one can go though. Who's going?"
(Whoever goes to talk to Ifrit's spirit will gain him as a summon.)

Update to Joey?
Soup will run outside to Mount Vul.
" WHY DID YOU CAUSE SO MUCH NOISE!?!?"

I thought I did give a response. Cheri wanted to stay and watch the pretty light show off in the distance. Also known as the battle with Ifrit. It's over now though, so...
"Thanks, Joey! Good night! I'll come play with you tomorrow!" Cheri heads home for some sleep. Joey also notices there are a few glowing, red rocks around town now. They must have fallen when the volcano erupted into a big monster. Oh, he also notices a Verian woman sobbing on the street and bleeding all over the place.
Soup makes his way to the mountain, yelling at those noisy kids! Seriously, it's probably their fault that his customers run away! It's got nothing to do with his safety hazards...probably.
