Origin of Note Beasts Long ago when the people first set foot on the continent of Harmonis, they struggled to defend themselves against the monsters living in the forests. It was a hard battle for survival and it's hard to believe anyone survived at all. Eventually, one of the groups found a mysterious object within one of the forests. It was a Note. This person that found it was a traveling musician. He came to the continent to lift the spirits of the sad towns. When he played his song, the Note had a miraculous reaction. When he completed the song, a beautiful dragon was standing before him. This musician was named Alcen. He was the first Conductor. He discovered Note Beasts did not originate from these Notes, but rather from the heart. The feelings put into the song played bring forth a creature within you. These Note Beasts are not simply summoned creatures. They are a part of you.
Alcen Alcen was the first Conductor. His dragon was one of many in the new species of Note Beasts. Alcen traveled the new continent, helping the growing towns by spreading the knowledge of Note Beasts. His hope was that these Note Beasts would help to change the world for the better. He dedicated himself to learning more about these Note Beasts and studied them his whole life. Alcen wrote the world's first compendium and since then it has always been tradition for Conductors to keep one. He discovered that Note Beasts could be safely stored within the instruments they were awakened with, but if there were too many in one instrument, the Note Beasts would quickly get out of hand and the Conductor would start to feel dizzy and sick. Instead, he created a way of storing Note Beasts away safely. With a symphony of Conductors, a large musical note could be created with the combined power. This note safely stores Note Beasts back within yourself so they can be switched out for another one. Alcen discovered the limits of Note Beasts you could contain within yourself is only as limited as the amount of Note Beasts you could create with your music. The possibilities were nearly endless. The continent soon grew full with Note Beasts and they were a part of everyday life. The Note Beast Kingdom was created.
Altars Altars are a special object made with recent advances in technology. These altars not only make the awakening process much easier, but also allow for Note Beasts to increase in Score with the use of Song Stones. When a Note Beast undergoes a Score change, not only will their physical appearance alter slightly, but they become more powerful and they learn new abilities. Though it has been easily proven Note Beasts can safely undergo this transformation, it is not recommended that this is attempted on anything else. It's unknown what the results may be. Depending on the Song Stone used in the process and the song played to upgrade the Note Beasts, transformations can differ greatly from a slight color change to an entirely new element and appearance. Song Stones are gems that can be found in various places, but they are considered rare and are expensive to buy.
Creation of Altars It seems that there is a special Rock used to make it and it somehow interacts with the mind to improve focus. The reasoning for the gems changing the forms of Note Beasts hasn't been fully understood and is still being studied.
Fall of the Note Beast Kingdom Although the Note Beasts helped the towns survive and there were a few years of peace, it was not long until those with an evil heart began creating Note Beasts. These Conductors sought to use the Note Beasts they summoned for destruction. They wanted to abuse their power to control the world. They nearly succeeded in their take over, but Alcen had defeated the evil Conductors, defeating their powerful monsters. When it seemed they were finally defeated, the Conductors performed a forbidden art of Symphony Summon. This cost the lives of many powerful Conductors in a Great War until Alcen gave his life to protect the land. His sacrifice powerfully affected the other Conductors of the land as they decided that the land would need protection from both the local monsters and others that would abuse their power with Note Beasts. The first guild, Hero's Sun, was formed to protect the land of Harmonis.
Symphony Summon Symphony Summoning is a forbidden art. When many conductors work together to summon a large monster, it is called Symphony Summoning. This creates a monster so powerful it consumes the Conductors and their Note Beasts after summoned. These creatures are said to be the greatest offense and defense. Despite the best efforts of the five united guilds, we failed to prevent Dark Conquest from performing the Symphony Summoning. The Symphony Summon was sealed within a barrier at the cost of countless lives, but this is only a temporary solution at best. Unless we can find a way to stop it for good, all of Harmonis is doomed...
Beastmen Former Conductors fused with their Note Beasts as a side effect of the Symphony Summon's power. Beastmen possess the powers of their Note Beast, but cannot create or control new Note Beasts. It is believed that this is because when they were fused with their Note Beast the corresponding piece of their soul was lost.
Hope Guild The last hope of Harmonis. Very few Conductors survived the battle with the Symphony Summon, but those who did formed a guild to train new Conductors and Beastmen. United under a common goal, our purpose is to defend Harmonis and find a way to slay the Symphony Summon before it's too late.
