Why not just make it in the future. Like for 30 or 50 years the Heros of Light have kept watch over the world. They had kids and those kids ran things. Some of the kids have become the new vessle of the eldrichs. Beings that have become one with the summon beings. There was a nice and peaceful balance in the world.
One day something happened where the vessels either disappear or go crazy etc.
Baiscially a new group of adventures have to look into the disappearance of the Vessels.
The new adventures can be the grandchildren of the hero of light, completely knew NPC's.
So the heros from the first LK the hero of lights or the people along the way that were very helpful (Baylanka) are old and retired. They have gone off to live a quite life away from all this. Some can be around to teach skills to the new group.
(Jess can be running a skill shop or training dojo. Paul and Anna are the shopkeepers of LK2. Etc.)
The vessles can function like the summons of old. Baiscally they become summons instead of characters they can do there Vessle class skills until dismissed or defeated. There classes can be bestowed upon the new classes but they have to either complete a really difficult quest to make it available or they have to face a super powerful version of the summon to make it avaliable.
In order to prevent everyone from becoming a vessle classes and to make it special then make it so a person has to reach max heart level so then the vessel could be like. You have proven yourself trustworthy to evetually inherit my powers. Then they unlock the quest or boss battle.
I figure we got really hung up in trying to balance all the old characters with the new characters and we got very confused and convoluted.
Why not bring back the new Dark Lords or new age or Neo Dark Lords. A group of people loyal to Mark and are intent on his resurection.
Yes the gods of old are dead and gone but well the spirit of light lives on in the heros. I am sure there's a way to come up with a powerful darkness to corrupt people with.
This time its possible to save the people who are the new age dark lords and in fact they the dark lords can become recruitable, redemeable, unlockable.
I say a semi reboot is what we need. Maybe come up with a new Terran. We have the old characters and vessels there but instead of the focus they are more like very helpful NPC's. The vessels will more or less be like the summons from LK1

Idea happened.
This would be drastically different from the original Lost Kingdom though...
What I need to know is, do you guys want the old characters around? Also, do you want to keep the mainly fantasy setting? Finally, WHO WANTS TO PLAY WITH TIME? EHHHHHHH?
All of my new games are playing with time. I need to stop it.

Old Character? Yes, but as important NPC's
Mainly Fantasy setting? Wynat a mixture of fantasy, modern, futuristic.
Messing with Time? Ehh not one of my favorites but its fine if enough people are onto it

Only keep the old characters if it'll be worth it. Otherwise they've had enough of their time. And keep it mostly fantasy. And with all the resets, it already feels like we've BEEN playing with time, so whatever.

Basically, my idea is to skip forward in time. Way forward. We won't have the old heroes or villains around anymore. Aside from maybe one, but...more on him later. We move forward to a new era. A modern time.
Now in this game, things are a bit different. Last time we had low tech stuff. Sword, lances, blah blah blah. Now we've got more advanced technology. Cooler swords and cooler lances and cooler blah blah blah. Think something closer to RWBY or Xenoblade. This opens the path for new ways to play with the battle system. Suddenly, the support party isn't as useless as before. They can provide cover fire with a new mechanic. Evolved forms of old classes can be made. Eidolons can make an appearance. Paid for DLC will get implemented into the new game somehow.
It will be an interesting modern take on a traditional fantasy setting. What's more, you won't be playing the heroes, but as Dark Lords. Well, I say Dark Lords, but it's a bit more...gray. The world is under control by powerful and strict forces that continue to strain the people for power. Donning the mask as villains of legend, you stand to fight against these dictators as a new generation of fighters. The Dark Lords.
You'll notice major changes and similarities between new and old areas and find that some actions from even long ago have an important affect on today. The culture of certain places still shines through today after all this time. And of course...magic is always still around.
What do you guys think?

Uhhhhh... Uhhhhh... Well, it's really radical of a change, isn't it? But I guess I did request change. It sounds interesting and, most importantly, sounds like somethin you're personally interested in. It's too different for me to quite wrap my head around, but it sounds cool enough.

I'm not sure how to feel about that. A large amount of the characters designed for Lost Kingdom 2 were meant to be children of the previous characters, and while it would be theoretically possible to say that they're just ancestors of them that defeats the purpose of their stats and skillsets being a combination of the parents. If they're all being thrown out or changed beyond recognition and the setting is changed to something completely different, why not remove the remaining references and have it just be a standalone game?

We can't keep doing this same thing we've been doing. It won't work. I know this is different, but it's a fun kind of different. If you give it a chance, I think you'll like it. It will still feel like a Lost Kingdom game and have references to the first one. But it will add something new and give life to something that's pretty dead.
