Meeting with Opulentus
Sitting in the meeting room, Ryner and Lute wait with Athena for the Opulentian representative to appear. Today should be the day. After a few minutes of waiting around, the representatives finally appear in the room, interrupting Ryner and Lute's card game.
The first to open the large doors is a woman dressed fully in a white and gold maid outfit, the colors of Opulentus. She has long, light blue hair that's almost white and golden eyes. She seems to emit some sort of mystical aura that Ryner can't quite understand. Her hair is tied back in a bun, but despite this, there's still somewhat of a ponytail left. She must have very long hair. She gives a bow as she enters and speaks in a soft and calm voice. "It is a pleasure to meet you all. My name is Spearah. I am the maid to Madame Adiamant, one of the council members in Opulentus. She sent me here to represent her since she is sadly busy with the war at the moment." She steps carefully to the side and gives room for a man behind her to enter.
He wears the same colors of gold and white and has a full suit of armor on except for the helmet. He looks fairly tall and strong. He greets everyone in the room with a polite and genuine smile, nodding to them all. His hair is short and dark brown and a trim beard covers his jawline. His eyes match his hair, also brown. He speaks with a strong voice, but not in a scary or demanding way, more in a confident and comfortable way. "So this is what Glaewood looks like. It's beautiful here. Thank you for giving us the excuse to come by. With the war going on, I don't get the luxury of vacations all that often!" He then walks over to the table and sits with the others. "I am one of the council members, Murus. I apologize for my lateness. I was mesmerized by the city's sights. But I do realize that I am here for business, not fun. My duty to my people comes first." Spearah stands by his side instead of sitting with him.
Ryner inspects both of their faces. They look trustworthy. And they haven't given him reason to distrust them. "So what exactly caused this war?"
Murus nods for a bit, closing eyes. "I thought you might ask that.” He then opens them back after taking a deep breath and looks at Ryner. “Long ago, a war broke out between Sidhe and Opulentus. The wolf king at the current time was power hungry. He wanted our legendary weapons. So he attacked us mercilessly. The Laguz were terrible. They slaughtered anyone in their way. It was then that we rose up and began training the strongest and most loyal knights in the land. Striking back at the invading Laguz, we managed to drive them back. From those battles, we learned that Laguz are never to be trusted. They are savage animals. The only way to put an end to their evil is to capture them all.” He then looks down and shakes his head. “I apologize. I may have taken that a little personally. You see, I have seen many of my close friends killed in battle by Laguz. It’s...not something you can forget.” The maid, Spearah, pats him on the back slightly in an attempt to comfort him.
“So what will capturing them do? Won’t you just have dangerous monsters in your towns if you do that?”
“They aren’t dangerous if you can take away their stones. Without them, they can’t transform. I may dislike them, but...we can’t simply kill all of them. Of course, we can’t treat monsters as Beorc are treated. We’ll let them live, but they will live below us, as it should be.”
“I see. So what do you hope to accomplish with this battle?”
“I only want to protect my people. Those beasts are dangerous and unpredictable. We cannot let them roam around freely. They must be restricted or we will always be constantly at risk. I only want what is best for my nation. If there were any way to do this without war, I would be all for it. But you cannot reason with the beasts. They simply will not listen. All they want to do is destroy.”
“Alright. Thank you for coming to see us. But I think I have enough information now.”
“Anytime. It was good to meet you. Thanks for having us come here.” Murus stands and heads out the door, but Spearah stays behind and looks at Ryner.
“Please, consider helping us. If the Laguz win this war, there’s no telling what would happen to our people. Especially to the leaders. I want to keep Malec safe. And Murus as well. Our ways may seem harsh, but you have to understand that this is our only option. If we do not fight back against the Laguz, they will surely hurt our people.” She bows and seems to be rather sad, but thanks Ryner for his time and heads out the door, following Murus.
Meeting with Sidhe
“Got any 5s?”
“Nope.” Lute reaches to draw a new card from the deck before the doors open and the representative from Sidhe appears.
He’s a lion Laguz with red hair that’s spiked upwards. His ears flick quickly as he enters the room and he looks at everyone with a big smile. He walks around, shirtless, in bare feet and only wears simple looking, brown pants with an elaborate scarf wrapped around his waist like a belt. Part of the scarf dangles down to about his knees in length and flows behind him as he walks. “Hey! You must be Ryner, right? My name’s Leo! I’m the lion prince from Sidhe. Nice to meet ya!”
Ryner simply stares at him for a moment before responding. “...Aren’t you cold?”
“Huh? Oh, no, not really. I always walk around like this, so you just kinda get used to it.”
“You seem rather casual for a prince.”
“Well, I’m not the only prince in Sidhe. There’s a lot of royal families there. But the most important one there are the wolves. Not that the rest of us aren’t important, it’s just that they’re the most important. Kind of. They’re like our leaders, but the rest of us all still get a say in things.”
“Okay. So I guess I’ll start with the obvious question. Why are you fighting a war?”
“Well that one’s pretty simple. The Opulentians treat Laguz like garbage. In fact, a lot of people do. It’s pretty terrible. They hate us just because of our race! It’s stupid. They kill us, capture us, enslave us, you name it they probably did it at some point. Basically, all Opulentians are just big, evil jerkfaces. All they care about is money. They want to catch us to use us for free labor so they can make a quick buck. They say that they’re trying to protect themselves, but that’s a ridiculous excuse. We may have attacked first a really long time ago, but everyone from back then is either dead or really old, so why label us all as evil for something one dumb king did a long time ago? That’s why we’re fighting. For our freedom! We want to be treated equally and we want to get revenge for all the bad things that the Opulentians have done to us.”
“Interesting...Your stories seem to conflict.”
“Of course they do! Opulentians are the bad guys here. They probably lied to you and are trying to make you fight for them. They’re so disgusting. Opulentians will do anything to win a war.”
“Alright, well, I think that’s all I need to hear for now. Thank you for coming.”
“Hey, anytime! We should all hang out together sometime! You all seem like cool people! We’ll have plenty of time to spend together when you join our side, right?” He laughs a bit and then heads out, waving to the group.
Meeting with Daravia
“Ummm...Ah ha! I have five of these! Does this mean I win…?”
“How did you even get those cards…? They aren’t even in the deck.” Once again, Ryner and Lute are interrupted as the representative from Daravia enters.
She’s a woman with long, red hair kept hidden underneath a black cloak, which she wears with the hood up. Underneath her cloak, she wears a sleeveless shirt with matching pants. A bandana covers her mouth and she carries the legendary knife, Gladius, attached to her hip in a sheathe. “Alright, make this quick. I don’t have much time to stand around and talk.”
“Alright, what do you think of the war going on between Opulentus and Sidhe?”
“None of my business and not my problem. Next question.”
“So what is Daravia doing right now?”
“We’re in the middle of a civil war. Next question.”
“Would you help us try and find another way to end the war between Opulentus and Sidhe?”
“Only if you help us win our own war. Help isn’t free. You help us, we help you.”
“Alright, what are your thoughts on Laguz?”
“Don’t care. Laguz, Beorc, doesn’t matter. I only care if you’re going to help me or not. I don’t have time to play silly games like the other countries. Are you done now? I should be leaving soon and don’t have much time.”
“What’s your name?”
“...You can call me Shi.” She walks out of the room, without saying another word and the doors shut behind her.
Ryner leans back in his chair and sighs. “I don’t feel like I’m any closer to making a decision than I was before. What the Opulentians told us and what the lion prince told us conflict and that Shi girl didn’t seem very interested in talking to us.”
“Well we still have one more day left. So maybe you can decide tomorrow, right?” Lute tries her best to cheer up Ryner and manages to get a smile out of him.
“Alright. I’ll decide in the morning. Hopefully I can make the right choice.”
“Don’t worry! No matter what you pick, I’ll be there to help you out!”

Paralogue 2 - Red Haired Merchant
That night, while Ryner was returning to the inn to rest, he heard a shout come from somewhere in the town. "HELP! THOSE STUPID ZOMBIES STOLE MY GOLD!"
"...?" Turning around, both Ryner and Lute notice that a red haired merchant is chasing after a group of zombies carrying sacks.
"WHY ARE YOU STANDING AROUND? THEY HAVE MY GOLD! STOP THOSE THIEVES!"
"Uh...alright." Ryner turns to Lute. "Go get the others. It looks like we're going to be fighting a bunch of gold stealing zombies."
"Okay!" Lute runs off to get their allies.
The group of enemies stand at the center of the town with exits to the north and south. They consist mainly of Risen thieves. Please select where to place your units.

They split into two groups with one to the north and one to the south. The enemy Risen all start to run in the direction of the exits, splitting fairly evenly as well. Ten thieves to the north and ten thieves to the south. They're all equipped with simple, Bronze Knives. There also seem to be Entombed with them. Ten on each side.
"Nothing gets between me and my gold! You'll pay for this! Don't let them escape with my money!"

Ryner quickly flies in and unleashes an exploding breath of light at one of the risen thieves attempting to escape with Ana's gold.
Thief receives 32 damage 0/16 HP
Feath then flies in behind him, leading the charge of the others on the same types of thieves.
Miss! Thief receives no damage 16/16 HP
Miss! Feath receives no damage 20/20 HP
Thief receives 7 damage 9/16 HP
Feath flies in, attempting to jab at the enemy thief, but it notices him and quickly avoids the attack. It tries to retaliate, but can't match Feath's speed, giving him a chance to land his second attack.
Thief receives 17 damage 0/16 HP
Myst quickly runs in behind Feath and slashes through one of the enemy thieves with ease as it drops dead on the ground.
Thief receives 19 damage 0/16 HP
Wallace follows Myst's attack by throwing his axe in a boomerang fashion at another thief, easily taking it out and grabbing his axe as it flies back to him.
Thief receives 19 damage 0/16 HP
Lawrence stands at the back of the group, next to Roland, and launches a beam of electricity from his Levin Sword, blasting one of the enemy thieves away.
As the four thieves fall, the injured one that remains runs past Feath, going underneath him. The other five thieves run past those that fought their allies, but don't get as far as the injured one. The Entombed make their way through the streets slower than the thieves, but reach the location where the ranged fighters attacked from. The injured thief should reach the exit in about two turns, the normal thieves should reach the exit in three, and the entombed in four if they aren't blocked.
Down at the southern exit, Lute starts the charge on the enemies, spitting a dark laser at one of the thieves with the Pass ability.

The thief notices her flying towards him and quickly dives out of the way before Terrance comes running in and strikes at another thief.

Terrance receives 4 damage 18/22 HP
He lands a quick sword strike to the thief's side, but his attack is quickly retaliated against as the thief takes a chance to jab at him with his dagger.
Frex then engages another one of the thieves, wildly swinging her axe.

The thief manages to evade her attack, but when it tries to strike back, she uses two quick movements of her axe to block the knives.
Nate readies his bow from a distance, carefully aiming at one of the thieves.

He lands a hit on the thief and celebrates his small victory despite not killing the thief. Lysea then rides past him on Tor, going for a jab with her lance.

She's unable to hit the thief and as it steps back to avoid her lance, it jumps up, swinging its knives at her, which harmlessly clang against her armor. Pyrio and Ana then provide fire at the Entombed from behind her.

The two Entombed they target are destroyed under a barrage of fireballs and arrows.
As the attacks stop coming, the thieves take their chance to move forward, jumping over and sliding under the various enemies in their way. The ones without the pass ability also manage to get through those in their way, but with a bit more difficulty. The entombed move much slower than the thieves and continue along at their own pace. The thieves with pass should reach the exit in about two turns, the normal thieves should reach the exit in three, and the entombed in four if they aren't blocked.

Ryner flies over to one of the thieves that ran past him and launches a light breath at it, causing a large explosion of light.

Feath flies in next to him, chasing down another thief.

His first stab misses as the thief steps aside and throws a knife into Feath. He's hurt, but mostly ignores the blow, striking back at the thief and landing a hit. Myst then jumps up over Feath, using his pegasus as a footstool to move further through the air, landing directly on top of the last thief with the pass ability and driving her sword through him.

Myst reaches level 6! Myst's Skill, Speed, Luck, and Defense increased by 1!
The sound of a loud whistle then echoes through the area as Lawrence calls in Yen to help take down some thieves. The fox jumps down from a nearby building and changes to a black and yellow lightning pattern before chomping one of the thieves in his jaws, sending sparks of electricity everywhere. Lawrence then raises his Levin Sword and drops a bolt of lightning on top of another thief that's nearby.

Wallace stares down one of the Entombed and spins his axe around in one hand. "Let's see how you like this attack!" He launches his axe directly through the Entombed.

"That's how you do it!" Wallace runs in and grabs his axe, chasing after some of the other risen.
Wallace reaches level 6! Wallace's Strength, Skill, Speed, Luck, Defense, and Resistance increase by 1!
Roland sits down at one of the open air cafes and simply orders some tea, sitting and watching until he is needed.
The enemies continue to run down the streets, toward the exits. The theives should reach the exit in two turns while the entombed should reach the exit in three turns.
On the other side of the city, Lute flies in the way of one of the thieves, trying to launch another dark beam at it.

The thief manages to jump over her dark laser breath and avoid it entirely. "Stop it! This isn't fun anymore..."
Terrance engages one of the injured thieves, swinging his blade through them.
Thief receives 11 damage 0/16 HP
Frex then goes after a different thief than the one she previously fought, angrily beheading it with little to no difficulty since it wasn't paying any attention to her.
Thief receives 17 damage 0/16 HP
Pyrio notices that the others are having a difficult time with the thieves and motions for Ana to follow him so they can take out some. He quickly launches two fireballs into the same thief, making it trip before incinerating it.
Thief receives 15 damage 1/16 HP

Ana helps as well, quickly firing an arrow into one of the thieves and piercing through him thoroughly.

Nate chases after one of the injured thieves and launches an arrow at him while running along, taking it down. "Alright! I did it!"
Nate reaches level 6! Nate's Health, Strength, Magic, Skill, Speed, Luck, Defense, and Resistance increase by 1!
Lysea gives up on chasing after the fast thieves and goes for the Entombed instead, smashing her Beast Killer into one of them. The Entombed makes angry gurgling sounds at her before swiping its claws.

Lysea receives 3 damage 19/22 HP
The enemies continue to make their way toward the exit. The thieves with the pass ability will reach the exit at the end of next turn if they aren't stopped. The normal thieves will reach the exit in two turns and the entombed will reach the exit in three turns.

Roland stands up and calmly walks over to Feath, waving his staff over him to heal his wounds.
Feath recovers 28 health 20/20 HP
"Thank you for the help!" Feath nods to Roland before flying ahead and blocking the path of a thief. He lands a quick jab before knocking the thief's dagger away and hitting him with another stab.
Thief receives 7 damage 9/16 HP
Miss! Feath receives no damage 20/20 HP
Thief receives 7 damage 2/16 HP
The thief gives up on fighting and runs past Feath, continuing on his way toward the exit. As he runs by, the second thief follows after before a sudden slash comes out of nowhere and he lands on the ground in two. "You cannot escape my blade." Myst stands where the thief once was.
Critical Hit! Thief receives 51 damage 0/16 HP
The Entombed are then showered in a rain of attacks from the others. Wallace tosses his axe through the crowd, managing to hit one of the enemies on its way back to him. Lawrence then drops a couple of lightning bolts on the same Entombed, taking it down with ease. Ryner releases a breath of light that explodes when coming into contact with another enemy, obliterating it.

Pyrio focuses carefully on one of the thieves as flames surround him. "Let's see how you like this! My special technique!" He quickly launches two fireballs into the thief before a pillar of fire erupts beneath him, leaving nothing left. "Oh, that was awesome!"

Pyrio reaches level 7! Pyrio's Strength, Magic, Speed, Luck, and Defense increase by 1!
Frex charges at one of the thieves, swinging her axe through them easily and taking them down in a single hit.

Frex reaches level 6! Frex's Health, Strength, Skill, and Defense increase by 1!
Nate helps to injure one of the thieves with an arrow, but he's unable to take him down entirely on his own.
Thief receives 8 damage 8/16 HP
Meanwhile, Lute changes targets from thieves to entombed since they're easier to hit. She launches a beam of dark energy through one of them, destroying it with ease.
Entombed receives 26 damage 0/22 HP
Lute reaches level 7! Lute's Strength, Skill, Speed, and Resistance increase by 1!
Lysea blocks the way of another entombed with her lance at the ready. She spins her lance around before charging through the entombed, piercing through it entirely.

Ryner flies over to a nearby Entombed and releases a light blast on it, creating another powerful explosion that completely disintegrates it.

Roland then walks over to Ryner, healing him a bit. "Always be sure to rest the proper amount. Wouldn't want to die from exhaustion."
Ryner recovers 28 health 28/28 HP
Roland reaches level 6! Roland's Health, Magic, Skill, Speed, Luck, and Resistance increase by 1!
Feath then flies in, stopping the thief at the exit. "Oh, you thought you were going to escape? No." He flies past the thief, skewering him with his lance.

Myst and Wallace then team up to take down the Entombed with Countermagic. They both run past their target, quickly slashing through them before dodging the following attack with a roll, moving behind their targets and slashing them from behind in unison. "Ha! We still make the best team ever!"
"Do not get overconfident, Wallace. This fight is not over yet."

Lawrence looks over to the incoming Entombed and takes out his Levin Sword, quickly launching two blasts of electricity into one as it falls to the ground and stops moving. "Their numbers are beginning to thin out. I believe this is the last of them."

As Lawrence says, there are much fewer enemies left standing in the northern part of the town, consisting only of Entombed. They will reach the exit at the end of next turn unless blocked.
Back at the southern end of the town, Nate and Ana continue to take down thieves that try to escape from them. Both of them take out the two remaining thieves with a single arrow, but the battle isn't quite over yet with the Entombed walking toward them.

Frex goes in after one of the other Entombed, swinging her axe at it before getting hit in retaliation by a claw attack. Ignoring the blow, she strikes the Entombed once more, creating a large gash in its center. "I HATE ENTOMBED! THEY WON'T BLEED!"

Roland waves his staff over Wallace quickly, healing any wounds that he sustained in battle.

Feath then flies in and takes out the damaged Entombed with a quick stab of his lance.
Entombed receives 7 damage 0/22 HP
Feath reaches level 7! Feath's Health, Strength, Skill, Speed, Defense, and Resistance increase by 1!
Lawrence then takes down another one of the Entombed, attacking it from a distance with his Levin Sword.
Entombed receives 27 damage 0/22 HP
Lawrence reaches level 11! Lawrence's Skill, Speed, Luck, and Defense increase by 1!
Wallace then head in to attack the last Entombed. As he strikes with his axe, the Entombed quickly retaliates with a powerful claw, doing a large amount of damage back to Wallace, but he stays standing and finishes it off with one more strike.

"Here, this is all the gold we managed to recover from those risen." Ryner hands a large sack full of gold coins over to the mysterious, red haired merchant.
"I'm so sorry I ever let you out of my sight! Don't ever worry me again like that, my precious babies!" She grabs the bag and snuggles it like her own child.
"...Why were there zombies after you gold?"
"It's a long story. Some witch got mad at me for selling her some VERY WELL PRICED items and put a curse on me. Something about misfortune chasing after my beautiful coins."
"I see. So she attacked you with zombies after you stole from her."
"I didn't steal! It was a totally reasonable business deal."
"Well, maybe. I'll keep this a little secret between us...that is if you join us on our journey. Your skill in battle was very impressive."
The merchant grumbles to herself a moment. "Fine, I'll go with you. I guess you DID manage to protect all my coins, so they're probably safer when we travel together. Alright, I'm in. I'll go with you. But don't get in the way of my money making!" She holds out one hand. "My name is Ana, the master merchant! And if you ever saw me doing anything, it's my sisters, I swear. We all look exactly alike."
"Alright. Well, you can relax for now. We aren't leaving just yet. Not until I make my decision in the morning on which side we're joining in the war."
"War? Sides? Mayyyybe I shouldn't have decided to join you so quickly..."
"You can leave whenever you'd like. I'm not going to keep you here."
"Nah, this should be interesting. I'll stick around. Something tells me you guys were supposed to save my gold for a reason..." Ana laughs a bit to herself as if she knows something Ryner doesn't. He simply shrugs and ignores her comment, heading off on his way.

“Heheh...Just a liiiiittle bit closer. Ryner sleeping in dragon form...this is my lucky day…!” Ana slowly sneaks her way toward Ryner, just outside of town as he takes a nap beneath a tree in dragon form. “I bet I can sell dragon scales for so much…! Ohh, I can see the gold now…!”
“Nnngh…?”
“...!” Ryner picks his head up and looks around a moment, but Ana luckily leaps behind a nearby bush just in time. Ryner eventually lays back on the ground and continues to sleep. Ana laughs quietly to herself as she approaches him, slowly reaching one hand out to grab his scales. Just as she’s about to reach one, Ryner begins to roll over in his sleep, nearly crushing her. “AHHHHH! DON’T KILL ME, STUPID DRAGON!”
“...Huh?” Standing up and stretching, Ryner looks down to see Ana standing there. “Oh, Ana. What are you doing there?”
“...Uhh...Nothing! Just watching after you veeeerrrry carefully. You were asleep and I wanted to make sure you weren’t attacked by monsters!”
“Interesting. It looked to me like you were trying to steal my scales in my sleep.”
“Whaaaaaat? Nooooooo. That’s crazy!”
“Really? You know, dragon scales are very rare. They would probably sell for a lot.”
“Hahahaha, no, that’s just crazy. I’m not stealing from you. Never! You’re a big, scary dragon. Only an insane person would think to steal from you! And you’re so smart and handso-”
“Flattering me won’t get you anywhere. You know I can hear you talking to yourself while I’m asleep, right?”
“...Er…”
“Hm. I wonder if I should just eat you right now…” Ryner smiles at Ana, showing his sharp teeth.
“Nope! You don’t have to do that! H-Here, I’ll do whatever you want! Just don’t eat me…”
“Even...give me all your gold!?”
“PLEASE, NO, ANYTHING BUT THAT!” Ana seems nearly in tears.
“Don’t worry, I don’t care much for money. But I’ll think of something to make you do. Right now, how about you run off and cause trouble somewhere else? I need to get back to my nap…” Ryner flops back on the ground, causing everything nearby to shake and knocking Ana over.
“...Huh. I could have sworn that was the end of me.” She then looks as if a light bulb clicked on in her head. “...Did he just give me permission to cause trouble? Mwahahaha…”

“Mwahahaha! ALL of the gold will be mine!” Ana stands, holding up an elaborate plot written down on paper for a way to get easy money fast. As she does this, Feath walks past, humming to himself and the two accidentally bump into each other. “Hey! Watch where you’re going, lady! You almost knocked me over!”
“Oh, I’m so sorry. I should have been watching where I was going. Oh, and...I’m not actually a-” Feath then stares at her in surprise, his eyes widening. “You-! I thought...I thought you were…!”
“Huh? Listen, I don’t have time for this nonsense. I have money to make. So if you need someth-” Feath drops everything he was doing and holds Ana in his arms, hugging her. “...?”
“I thought you were dead. But you’re alive! I didn’t see anyone else survive that attack on the village. I’m so glad you’re safe…”
“...Um…”
“Is something the matter? Oh, I see. I...am sorry. You must have thought I abandoned you. I…”
“No, it’s fine. I’m not mad at you. Really. You never abandoned me.”
Feath smiles. “I’m glad you aren’t mad. When I had to leave you there...I was devastated. But to see you alive and well...it makes me feel like that hole in my heart has finally healed.”
“...Uh...Yeah, me too.” Ana avoids looking at Feath, staring off to the side. “You know, I think...I had something I had to do right now. Maybe we can talk later?”
“Yes, of course! I didn’t mean to interrupt you. I’ll see you later, okay?”
“Yeah.” Feath heads off, back on his way and seems much happier than before. “Oh, gods. Which of my sisters is dead and what kind of a relationship did SHE have with them!? This is some kind of special mess...but...I can’t just tell her I’m not who she thinks I am. She looks so fragile. It’d crush her.” Ana deeply sighs and heads off on her way, seeming much sadder than before.

Sitting outside, peacefully, Myst stares out over the horizon, holding a cup of warm tea in her hands. The snowy cliffside provides the perfect view of the town and nearby forest. Her eyes stay fixed on the clouds, watching them shift forms slowly over time. A sip of tea every now and then meets her lips. All is quiet. Finally. Some time away from the loud noise of the town. Nothing can disturb her up he-
“DIE, YOU FILTHY SCUM!”
“...” Letting out a short sigh, Myst gets to her feet and reaches for her sword, turning to see Frex surrounded by various monsters. “...Oh.”
“I SHALL BATHE IN YOUR BLOOD AND DRINK IT!”
Among the loud smashing sounds, Myst whispers to herself. “There truly is no place to relax with these people around.” She raises her voice, but only to the level of a normal conversation. “Would you like help dispatching these foes?”
“NO! I WILL KILL THEM ALL ON MY OWN AND MOUNT THEIR HEADS ON A WALL! HAHAHAHA!”
“Very well. Could you please kill them a bit quieter?”
“NEVER! THEIR SHOUTS OF PAIN MAKE IT SO MUCH BETTER!”
“Well, I’m trying to enjoy the view over here, so if they could die with less screaming, it would be appreciated.”
“TAKE THIS!”
“...” She sighs once more and reaches for her blade, slashing through all nearby enemies in one quick swipe. “...There. It is done.” Returning to her tea, she sits and watches the horizon.
“...Aww, I wasn’t done with those! Fun ruiner.”
“...Fun ruiner? I believe you are mistaken. You are ruining MY fun. Now please leave. The strange unbalance in you is making me uncomfortable.”
“What is THAT supposed to mean?”
“...” Myst sighs yet again, standing and gathering her things. “Nevermind. I give up. I’m heading back.”
“...Okay. I’ll be killing more things.”
“I noticed.” Myst walks off, leaving Frex on her own.

“Oh, not me! I meant Tor. My giant turtle! He needs a mate. Look how lonely he is! I can feel it just from here! Oh, the pain and agony in his eyes! Just look at him!”
“Lysea. He is a turtle. They do not breed for love.”
“Don’t listen to her, Tor. I know what you want. I totally understand your feelings.”
“Of all people, why would you come to me on this matter?”
“I always come to you for help on things. Then you say something about inner peace with oneself and I interpret it as whatever I want and things work out!”
“Are you saying you don’t listen to my inner peace speeches…?”
“Not important right now! Just give me advice!”
“Well...I was never trained how to love. Hmm. I will have to look into this if I am to help.”
“We don’t have time for research! Tor needs love ASAP!”
“Alright, alright. How does this sound? We will simply go over what we look for most in a man and that will help him get the female turtles attention. Just tell him to act how we would want someone we were in love with to act.”

“Very well. I shall research love and we will meet again to teach Tor how to properly attract a mate.”
“I’ll research it too! Don’t worry Tor. You won’t have to wait forever. We’ll get this together as soon as we can!” The two nod and then head off to get to work. Tor stands in plays, sitting on the ground and sighing.

“Oh, ow. You’re actually pretty strong, you know that? I’m just practicing my magic.”
“Haha, thanks! I might not look it, but I have my hidden strength! You’re pretty impressive too! I’m not all that great at the magic stuff. I wish I could control fire like you.”
“Oh, really? I’ve always been sort of jealous of how strong you were. You’re just so...y’know. Strong. All I can do is make fire move around. Not really all that special. I mean, have you seen Lawrence? That guy shoots lightning from his hands like it’s nothing!”
“Pfft, don’t be so modest. You’re great. I might be strong, but have you seen Frex? One time I saw here smash a boulder right on top of an enemy just because she could! She’s crazy powerful…”
“Hmm...hey, I have an idea. How about we train together?”
“I was just about to say that! I could help you get stronger and you can help me use some of those fancy tomes! It’s a great idea!”
“Awesome! Alright, let’s start right now!”
“Sounds like a good idea to me! You know, I’m pretty surprised. Even though we’re so different in battle, we’re pretty similar. Alright, first things first! Drop and give me twenty push ups right now!”
“...T-Twenty!? I mean...yes, sir!”

Lute walks down the streets of town, cheerily humming to herself when she notices a bunch of cute doggies sitting around together in a large group. “Whoaaa. That’s a lot of doggies.” She excitedly starts to run over and notices someone sitting at the center of the group of dogs. “Is that Lawrence…?”
“Hmm hmm hmm~” He sits happily, petting the dogs around him. Yen sits next to him and looks up at Lute as she approaches, letting out a small yip to tell Lawrence she’s there. “Oh, hello, Lute.”
“Are all of these doggies yours?”
“Oh, no, definitely not. I just naturally attract animals. Specifically, dogs. They really like me for some reason.”
“Oh, you’re so lucky! I wish I could be magically surrounded by cute doggies! I love animals! But sometimes I scare them away. I guess I can be a bit too loud for them, huh?”
“Yes, I can see that.”
“Um...can I pet the doggies?”
“Go ahead. I’m sure they won’t mind. They’re all quite friendly.”
“Yay!” She reaches down and scratches behind one of the dog’s ears.
“He says he likes it.”
“You can understand them!?”
“Yes, of course I can. It’s just as I speak with Yen at times. I can easily understand dogs, foxes, wolves, and other canine animals.”
“That’s so cooooool!”
“Well, not quite as cool as being able to speak with dragons. I’m sure your abilities are very useful.”
“Oh, yeah, sometimes. But doggies are much more fun. They’re so fluffy. So floof.” She buries her face in the fur of one of the dogs.
“Well, you’re always free to spend time with me and the many dogs I attract. This is...fairly typical. So tag along whenever you’d like. I’m sure Yen would like the company.” Yen gives a bark of approval and licks Lute.
“Yay! It’s like a big cuddle party! I’ll have to come with you every time if it’s always like this!”
“Oh, trust me, it is. It always is.”

“Hmm? Oh, it’s a flower. It’s very pretty.”
“It’s for you! I went and found it because you looked really serious and sad and all that and uh...I want you to be happy!”
“Thanks, Lute. I’m glad. I’ll take good care of it.”
“It’s a Snow Bloom! The people in the village we were at before were talking about it and how rare it is. It’s really hard to get because you have to go through this icy cave and fight this big golem and-”
“Lute. You fought monsters on your own?”
“Huh? Yeah, of course. But it’s not like-”
“Why are you hiding your arm? Let me look at it. Show me.”
“...Fine.”
“...You’re bleeding. You got hurt trying to get that flower.”
“It’s just a little scratch...really, I’m fine.”
“You can’t go off fighting things on your own, Lute. If you got hurt...well, I wouldn’t know what to do. But you can’t wander off like that. If you’re going somewhere, make sure you tell me first. I’d never forgive myself if something happened to you…”
“I’m okay though. I’ll go talk to Roland and he can heal me. It’s nothing big.”
Ryner sighs. “I understand you were trying to make me happy, but...please just don’t do that again, alright? Can you do that for me?”
“Hmm...alright. I’ll stay safe from now on. But you have to promise to smile a lot more, Mr. Grumpy Dragon.”
“Alright, here. Is this better?”
“Hey, I know you’re faking it! Give me a real smile! Don’t make me tickle it out of you!”
“You’ll have to catch me first to do that!”
“Wha-!? Hey, Ryner! Come back here! You can’t fly off without me! When I catch you, you’re gonna laugh so hard! Get back here!”

Shuffling through some equipment in the convoy, something happens to catch Frex's eye. A glowing, silver sphere. "Hmm? What's this?" Reaching out for it, the mysterious sphere releases a bright light, suddenly enveloping her.
When the light dies down, her clothing changes to be white and flowing, wearing a white shirt that reveals her center and has long, flowing strands coming from the shoulders. Her arms are uncovered aside from golden rings worn around her wrists and ankles that jingle slightly when she moves. A white, skirt-like cloth is wrapped around her waist, covering below her waist, but revealing her legs and feet. Her hair is changed to be worn up in a ponytail instead of let loose as well.
Frex changed to the Bard class!
Frex's Health decreased by 5! Frex's Strength and Defense decrease by 4! Frex's Luck increased by 5! Frex's Skill and Speed increased by 4!
Frex lost the ability to use axes! Frex gained the ability to use swords, bows, and knives!
Frex learned the skill Luck+!
"Oooh, I wonder how I can kill things with this!"

Meeting with Athena after finishing with his afternoon nap, Ryner finally has to make a decision on which side of the war to join. He's put it off long enough. "Alright, Ryner, so which side is it? As a dragon, I trust you to make the right choice here. I don't really think there's a right side to this, but I don't doubt we will win no matter who you choose."
Ryner gives it a moment of thought before responding.

"I've decided. We're not getting involved in this war. There's no point to it. Neither side is right. Instead, we're going to go help Daravia. We can make allies that way and they can help us fight against the demon. While I'm sure Opulentus and Sidhe both contain legendary weapons, we can guarantee an ally that has one if we choose Daravia. That woman that met with us, Shi, definitely had Gladius. I'm sure of it. The description matched what the Elder told me."
"Stopping a civil war, eh? Alright! Let's go then! Sounds like it could be an interesting challenge!" Athena cracks her knuckles and grins. "But we'll have to get through Opulentus to reach Daravia. Hmm..."
"I have an idea. What if instead of marching a large army, we send a small force through Opulentus. It's less suspicious that way. I'm sure with the combined efforts of our force and the Daravians, we can defeat the rising enemies."
"Sounds like a plan then!" Athena slaps Ryner on the shoulder. "Alright, you get yourself ready then. I'll go gather some troops to send with you. I'll also notify the representatives of what you decided. I'm sure neither will be very happy, but I doubt they'll consider you enemies. Just don't expect any help back from them in the future. Some of these leaders can hold a grudge, eh? Haha!"
Being sent on his way toward Daravia, Ryner and his allies were set on a neutral path in this war. They would not join either side. How would this choice affect them in the future? What kinds of allies and enemies have they made with one decision? Would they be able to put a stop to the return of the sealed demon's reign of terror? These questions and more filled Ryner's head as he moved down the path, but with his allies by his side and the hope of turning the world away from calamity, he marched on...

Chapter 7 - Stormy Seas
"Lady Elay, it looks like we are about to arrive in Sidhe. It will only be a few hours from now. Perhaps you would like to head up on deck and get some fresh air?" Gerand goes throughout Elay's room, tidying things up.
"Ah, yes, you're right. I should probably take a break from writing my report and walk around a bit. I'm almost done anyhow. Do you think the Laguz will be accepting of our company? I'm worried they might not trust Beorc after all this time of being oppressed..."
"Do not worry. We have long been allies with Sidhe. Besides, I doubt they would ask for our help if they did not like us."
"Hmm...Maybe you're right. I think I'll head up and walk around a bit. Some sunshine would be nice. It's not usually as warm in Umbra as it is in Sidhe."
"Perfect. I'll be finishing up and will join you after."
"I hope you don't mind, Gerand, but I think I'd like some time alone. Just some time to think. We're going to be marching right into that battle once we land. I think...I need to prepare myself for that. I'm worried about what might happen."
"Hmm..." Gerand looks at Elay for a moment before nodding. "Very well. I will not argue against you. But I do advise that you relax a bit. You are a fine leader, Lady Elay. I have no doubts that you will lead us to victory."
Heading up above deck, Elay leans on the ship railing a moment, looking out over the horizon. She lets out a sigh. "I know that Father trusts me with this duty, but...I'm not sure I trust myself with it. When I think about it...I get this terrible, ominous feeling..." She looks up and notices something off in the distance. "That's...an odd bird. And odd...flock of birds." With a gasp, she comes to a realization and shouts for her allies. "Enemy pegasus knights are headed toward us! Everybody get into position to defend the ship! I should have expected this...It looks like the Opulentians found out we were on our way here." Elay draws her weapon as her allies come up from below deck one by one.
The lead Pegasus Knight calls out to her allies. "Do not hold anything back! These heretics come from the dark lands of Umbra! In the holy name of Lux, we shall purge them from the land!"
"Yes, Quila! Understood!"
Arc seems a bit uneasy and reluctant to fight. "Quila...!? One of the holy knights? Gods, forgive me for what I'm about to do..." She seems to regain some of her composure and holds her lance at the ready.
Elay sizes up her enemies, looking at them all carefully. "Pegasi from the west, turtle knights form the east, and dragons from the north...I better split everyone up carefully."
