Two worlds, clashing through the boundaries of spacetime, sparking suspicious intentions all about… But we can bring these worlds together, can’t we?
Welcome to the SS Sign Ups! No, the “SS” is an abbreviation for Speed Spell as opposed to a reference to a boat, and it is COMPLETE coincidence that the sign up office is on a cruise ship.
Now, the world of Speed Spell is composed of two unique worlds; Kanuyen, a land of magic and fantasy ruled by royalty, and Rekkoru, a world set in the “present” era, protected by a global government. Long ago, the two worlds suddenly converged across the fabric of spacetime, remaining separate but spawning portals between the worlds, scattered across the two lands. But nowadays, all portals are kept under heavy guard by the leaders of the two worlds, making travel between the worlds near impossible...
There is one other oddity that spawned from the world collision many years ago. A new form of magic, unprecedented in Rekkoru’s technological world and even unfamiliar to all in Kanuyen’s magical world, suddenly appeared. This new magic allows the magic users to engage in a new form of magic battle, one where the users are teleported to a separate dimension with constantly changing scenarios and seek to damage the opponent’s magical aura until submission or defeat. This type of battle can be initiated with a rare spell, and the battles themselves are dubbed “Speed Spell” battles. Engaging in Speed Spell is normally prohibited in Rekkoru, although the public delights in observing the occasional large-scale Speed Spell tournament, and the game is commonplace to those who know it in Kanuyen for defense and amusement.
In terms of gameplay… Speed Spell battles act as most usual battles do in other Vitcon games, but there’s one big twist; you only get one turn to input your actions before the scenario completely changes! Most often, you’ll need to directly combat an opponent in constantly changing locations, but sometimes you’ll get a unique scenario without a combat focus where the goal is to complete some sort of task the fastest or most effectively to deal damage to your opponent’s aura. A depleted magical aura forces the user into a knock-out or submission!
If you’re interested in these ventures, we’ve got 4 lovely vacation plans ready to go for your sign ups, each with their own flavor and spin on the game…
Magic Apprentice! - Become a new student of Speed Spell in a quiet town’s magic school alongside other aspiring young magic users! Takes place in the world of Kanuyen.
Curious Scholar! - Get swept up into an odd predicament and enroll into school, with many mysteries hidden behind the capital city… Takes place in the world of Rekkoru.
Wandering Adventurer! - Journey across the land with magic in hand! There’s word of many strange events occurring recently, not including your unusual awakening… Takes place in the world of Kanuyen.
Emancipating Rebel! - Join the fight to end the so-called “protection” of the world portals and overthrow what is suspected to be foul play afoot… Takes place in the world of Rekkoru.
Now that all’s said and done, please submit any and all character applications! C’mon already, we don’t got all century here...
Name:
Age:
Race:
Vacation Plan:
3 Spells:
Description:
Name: Character’s name. Last names optional. The setting is pretty universal so no one will give your characters any crap about their names being normal/weird.
Age: How old’s your character? (NOTE: Any age is fine for the Adventurer / Rebel routes, but I’m gonna give you a weird look if a character for the Magic Apprentice / Scholar routes has too odd of an age…)
Race: Can really be any justifiable race. Human, Elf, Robot, most of anything that’s vaguely humanoid, the usual, the unusual...
Vacation Plan: Select one of our illustrious, 5-star vacation plans! Now a word from the lawyer team. (LEGAL PRINT: This is simply Awkward’s way of making a sign up topic slightly more interesting. This topic is non-canon. Your characters are not actually on a ship or going on a vacation. You can’t go on the vacations either. I’m sorry.)
3 Spells: Choose 3 spells for your character to start with. These spells are entirely up to you, but these spells cannot be excessively powerful. To give an idea, spells such as “complete control over water / an element” would be considered too powerful, but any other water spells would likely be just fine. It is also recommended to have at least 1 spell with a primary attacking focus for battles.
You'll also have opportunities to gain new skills along the way.
Description: Describe your character’s appearance and general personality. Any relevant backstory can also go here… but to be honest, backstories will not play a crucial role, and your characters will immediately be relocated at the start of the game...
You may have up to 4 characters, BUT each character must be on a separate route.
Only join the routes you’d genuinely like to join. It is not necessary at all to have a character in each route to enjoy the full story and experience. It is also not necessary to have player characters in each route; everyone may only join one route if they wish. Any and all questions are welcome. And don’t bother with those “I’ll sign up later / I’m not sure if I’ll sign up / I need inspiration first”-type posts, they don’t add anything and I’ll wait a while before starting Speed Spell anyways.
