Welcome to Shift!
This game is made to be fairly simple while also allowing some complexity. Essentially, this is going to be my attempt at giving you all something while my computer's broken and I'm stuck on my phone. This is either going to be a complete train wreck or really interesting, but I'll make it fun either way.
Let's start with the basics of what this is. This game isn't going to work exactly like a normal Vitcon game would. Instead, it's going to work closer to a CYOA or Gates style. However, there's not really much structure to it. The players aren't going to be controlling characters, but rather they'll be more like otherworldly guides. Using words, phrases, images, and music, players are going to influence the world, the story, and the characters heavily. It's my job to try and piece it all together into an interesting story.
Now, how do you players interact with the story? That's pretty easy. All you need to do is tell me what you're adding/creating and what your description is for it. It doesn't necessarily need to be a description, but the added text to show what exactly you want in a way. Here, let me give you an example.
Me: Our hero, Joe, is suddenly assaulted by a pack of wolves!
Player: Weapon - Sword
Me: Joe reaches to his side and takes out his sword, slashing away at the wolves and defeating them!
That's a really basic example, but hopefully it gets the point across. You can also add more than simply one word. "Giant flaming sword" would work too. Or something like "Joe runs away" works as well. Generally, it helps if you add the original object your changing such as "Solution", "Setting", or "Create Character" so that I know what you're trying to do. If you don't provide something like that, I'll just try to find a general way to implement what you posted. It doesn't have to be words either. Images and music are completely acceptable. Just try and stay away from videos because I don't really have time to watch them. It also helps when you keep your answers on the more vague side and less specific on everything you want. For example, "Joe cuts the rope using the sword" will yield the exact result and be boring, but just saying "sword rope" leaves enough room to maybe make things more interesting and add something more. Maybe Joe needs to throw the sword to avoid a pit of poison. Who knows? This is entirely experimental and I think the best way to do this is just to get right to it.
However, before we get right to it, do you have any questions?
