I'd be a lot more interested in taking something up knowing you'd probably join it. I guess this seems like the right place for this. If I did take up something, what would people want me to do? PMD and Dungeon Quest (although you said you didn't really want to do that one and Malefio said he might take up that one if there's enough demand) would be at the top of my list. Lost Kingdom 2 would be kind of nice but given it's a sequel that's probably not the most practical.

You were a great admin, Just, I Hope that what you plan to do with your future turns out well, and I know what you're feeling. Recently I left a forum I had been running for over 2 years because of many of the same reasons you have now, and it was really hard, but I was able to power through it and now Im doing a bit better. I don't really know how to end this post, so, umm... May the force be with you? Thanks, TGC.

Pokemon type game in the more traditional sense rather then Mystery Dungeon or Colosseum type.
If no one wants to do a traditional pokemon style game then I prefered Mystery over the other style (at least from a forum game thing.)
The Dating Sim has to come back in some way or at the very least something that id inspired or based off of it. (I guess a Persona based game would be the closest.)
Dungeon Quest I lost interest in it and don't think I would be willing to join again.
Song Summoner like the original one would be interesting.
Mario, Sonic inspired game would be nice.
Smash based game
I would say Lost Kingdom but lets just go straight up Final Fantasy inspired game. Even if its Lost Kingdomish. I couldn't really get into the new version of it or the Dungeon Quest version of it.

Didn't care for the battle system. I don't know enough about it. Dungeon Quest is a... maybe. A weak maybe. If Mal doesn't do TDS, I'd... consider... it... Why's everyone talking like Kitty's going away forever?

Traditional Pokemon game as in catching wild Pokemon and all that? I could handle the concept, but you know I don't do stats anymore... If players are willing to manage their stats themselves, I might do something with it...
PMD I can deal with easily.
Dating Sim I can do. Persona-based, I can't. So if Crow wants to do something with it, I can leave DS to him.
Song Summoners with all the different guilds? I can do that, but wasn't it the reason the game died?
A spuritual successor to Lost Kingdom I could do, but it just feels wrong.

A spuritual successor to Lost Kingdom I could do, but it just feels wrong. He might just mean a version of it that isn't post-apocalyptic. As for a more traditional Pokémon game, it could just not use strict stats. Use general ideas of "this Pokémon is slow but durable", "this one is a speedy physical attacker" and "this move is stronger than that other move" based loosely on base stats and base power while gating available attacks behind something other than levels (progress, perhaps? Depending on how far in the game we are we can use moves up to a certain level and certain Pokémon that evolve by level are allowed to evolve). Ideally it would also be neat if we could choose our starter from any Pokémon that isn't overpowered (so no legendaries obviously) and in its lowest evolutionary stage. Feel free to use any or none of these ideas if you end up making a Pokémon game, I'm just spitballing ideas here.

Yeah traditonal in the sense we are traveling a region collecting Pokemon at our leisure but without the whole colosseum to it.
I rather go around collect Mon battle other trainers (PC, NPC's).
As far as stats we don't really need them just something very basic like levels. They can just be a measure of where we are. (So like a lv.100 Pikachu will be much stronger then a lv.10 Pikachu. Without all the little stats in between)
Pretty much the levels are there as an overview and let us we are x levels from evolving or learning that move. Or how we use them in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and Pokemon Z.
I am not saying we should abandon all story but it can be something that's accomplished along the way while we all take our time and gather pokemon, fight gyms, or do competions or shows if you want to go that route. (Like how in the anime May, Dawn, and Serena would go the route of a Pokemon Cordinator instead of going the route of gyms and battles

The original Song Summoner I have no reason why it died. But does the reboot need all the different guilds.
Why not have one offical song summoner government type thing that handles the distribution of notes and summoners.
Like maybe they can a school or class on how to become a song summoner and then those summoners are sent into the world to do a varouis amount of things. Ranging from entertainment, sports, song summoner battles, fight in wars, etc
If you want to have different unoffical guilds or an evil guilds it can be optional but in the new world theres one governing body that's in charge of training summoners and maintaing them and keeping records on them.

I mean... I wasn't gonna use the guilds, but that's the only difference I can think of between the original and the sequel.

Uh...Maybe it will help you out if I tell you what each game was like and what I wish I could do different and what really worked. After all, if I share my experience with you, you won't have to make my mistakes over again and can instead learn.
Legend of Heroes updated too quickly for anyone other than you to keep up. There was also a hefty amount of reading that not a lot of people wanted to do. So that's why that didn't really work out. I also think the stats turned a lot of people off because it was so much with so many characters at the same time. But at the same time, a lot of the appeal came from the characters. I think it would have worked better with a smaller cast, but at the same time, a large army gave of the feel of commanding...well, an army. It made updates pretty long though. I also kept battles interesting by implementing special maps and goals other than Route The Enemy such as Seize, Escape, or Gather Mushrooms.
Vitmons had a similar problem, updating too quickly. It seems a lot of people aren't very interested in group games where they need to work together or where they don't directly control the characters. It was my temporary replacement for Song Summoner until I could find some way to bring it back. The idea was pretty fun. I based it off of monster raising games as I like seeing how monsters change and develop depending on how they're raised. My desire for a Chao game kinda fueled it.
If you want to use Spellcast's system, I don't mind. It's actually kind of fun to work for. You just need to be good at math to figure out how hard you want battles to be and how many hits you want each enemy to take. A good move to make is always to give enemies high HP and low Defenses as opposed to low HP and high Defenses. That's because the damage makes the player feel like they're making progress without one shotting the boss as opposed to dealing a bunch of 1 damages in a slow and boring fight.
Soul Tower seemed like it was going pretty well as I made it. I never got to implement the Soul Gem system though. Everytime an important NPC dies, you gain a Soul Gem. You could use Soul Gems to gain special items, abilities, or even to revive the character using the Soul Fountain in the hub. You could also upgrade the fountain to get better stuff from the Soul Gems if you used Soul Gems. You'd also gain special rewards for clearing every soul on the Reaper's List.
Ghost Mansion was only hard to update because I couldn't figure out a way to implement complicated puzzles for the ghosts in a text based game.
Dungeon Quest took a little getting used to and balancing at first, but once I figured it out, it went pretty well. It was the same issue with enemies needing high HP and low Defenses as opposed to low HP and high defenses. I also had some difficulty balancing certain skills and spells. But I think the SP gauge helped a lot with that.
The Dating Sim is probably one of my favorite projects I've ever made. The inspiration was definitely Persona. Specifically Persona 4. I loved creating the puzzles of who's the murderer and who's Somnis. It's kind of cool having players keep secrets from each other and having to figure out what's happening. But I also loved making the characters for it. The whole idea with The Dating Sim was to fly in the face of typical Dating Sim conventions. Instead of dating characters because you wanted to get in their pants, you date them because you like them as a character. You bond with them. Each character was meant to feel alive. They all had hopes, dreams, fears, ambitions, and problems. The point was to learn about them so you could raise your relationship rank. As a reward, I gave you skills for each rank. I decided that at Rank 10, each social link would escalate and upon resolving the conflict that's been present throughout all conversations, you'd be rewarded with a summon, symbolizing coming over the problems presented by life.
Song Summoner was fun, but a little chaotic to put together. It was kind of absent of a story until I added the whole Symphony Summon time travel thing. I think I liked Song Summoner: Apocalypse more though. It's not common that you play a game where the heroes actually failed and the world is on the brink of destruction and despair. It would be interesting to see a Lost Kingdom game where the heroes failed too.
The point with the Pokemon games was supposed to be that they were connected. Not directly connected exactly, but the reason each thing was happening was because of the worlds interacting with each other. I was planning on having the characters of Pokemon Z fight with the PMD team against the final boss.

Still a big If here. If I take over TDS, would people want a reboot? Or a continuation?

Damn guys I just noticed this. I know things are crazy but I understand Just. With college around the corner and your dream within your reach you should focus more on real life. Though, I hope you stick around. I've lost two great friends who ran forums before.
Ever since Pikmin Wars you've been awesome, always helping out and making fun ass stories. I am going to miss your writing. I still can't believe what we've brought together, all because we just happened to be on the RP boards at the right time on GameFAQs. A lot of memories and fun has been had here and on other forums as well.
Good luck Just, and I hope you mange to achieve a lot. Maybe someday we'll see what you create.
