Mattea sighs and rolls her eyes right back. "I wasn't asking you to get on your knees and beg... this time. I was just looking for a 'please.' Oh, well. Let's just get to the studying."
Mattea starts going through her packet of practice questions. You notice she's definitely still trying to distract you from time to time... but nothing you can't handle.

"Hmmmph. 60%. About as good as I'd expect," Mattea says. "I don't know much about the competitors, so I don't know if that's good enough or not. Tch. I'm not going to lose this bet. Maybe I can sabotage the opponents... or bribe them..."

"I didn't really want to take over leading the trivia club for this. I couldn't care much less. Normally. But Alice bet I couldn't get a team in the top three. I don't know if she actually believes that or was using reverse psychology, but I got her to agree to a little bet so I really don't care."
Mattea leans back and tosses her legs across your lap. An eerie expression is plastered across her face. "I already took her precious presidency from her. Next we're going to win this competition... and then I'm really going to put that bitch in her place. I'm going to show her, everyone why you don't fuck with me." She stares off into space and chuckles.
You're actually kind of unsettled.

Tai slams his book closed eyes her with disdain. "Go ahead and cheat then. Act like the she-devil people think and say you are. But I'm not going to participate in any team that resorts to underhandedness just for the sake of winning. If I wasn't gonna take that shit back in baseball I ain't gonna take it in a damn Trivia contest either." Tai's voice is forceful and angry, yet not shaky or miscalculated whatsoever.

Mattea flinches - hard - as you slam your book shut. She actually kicks you in the shin as she withdraws her legs, ow... Her eyes widen for a second when you start talking, but she's quick to return to an annoyed, grumpy expression. "Fine! I won't do anything. But you better not fucking lose!"

Mattea does not take being ignored particularly well, and tries to catch your attention in increasingly obvious ways.
After a bit more studying, she says her father's going to be home before long. She basically kicks you out. "But come back tomorrow to study some more and maybe I'll make it worth your while." Wink. All the subtlety of a sledgehammer to the back of the head.

You text Mattea and she says it's fine. She was expecting you to come back, after all.
She meets you at the door in her usual outfit. She leads you to the couch and flops down, tossing her legs over your lap. "Ready to study some more?" She smiles. "I've been thinking and I thought you might be getting bored, so..." She lets one of her shoes slide off and drop to the floor, then stretches her leg towards an end table. She holds up some toy clutched between her toes and offers it to you. It looks like a metallic collar with cartoony pictures of lightning bolts on it. She raises one of her eyebrows and eyes you expectantly. "Could be fun, right? A bit more exciting? Or we can just study normally."

You head home and wait for Buttons to show up. Your bell soon rings. When you answer the door, you find Buttons standing there. In his usual cloak. "Greetings, Minion!" He pulls back the cape and produces a small bag. "I brought some cookies."

Mattea bolts up and quickly snaps the toy around your neck before you can change your mind. "Oh, my... That's quite a good look for you. Oh, this is gonna be fun. Let's go through the 300-question packet tonight..." she says with a devilish grin. "Oh, but now it's my turn to ante up. You actually get through this and I'll... Oh, I know. It'll be worth your while."
