"Wait you have a tail and you look super edgy?". "Yet deep down your a huge softy, and have a heart of gold,". "Do you turn into that edgy black hedgehog from the Sonic series?". "Do you turn into Shadow the Edgehog?" Sam seems genuine and is a sincere in her excitement at seeing Tai as Shadow the Hedgehog.

"I don't... really like killing the monsters just to get stuff if it's not really important. It was one thing when we needed stuff to go help Laura, but..." Natsumi says.
"Nah, Tai's right. I want cake," Freya interjects.
"No singing, though, please..." Raine adds.
"Nope!" Natsumi disappears into the kitchen for a bit, then reappears carrying a simple pound cake with two candles on it. She starts singing as she puts it on the table. Katie and Fox join in while Freya grins and Raine hides in her hands.
The cake itself's a little dry. Not great, but still cake.
Afterward, Natsumi takes out two small boxes. "Presents! I got this for you."
The twins open the package to find a pair of matching phone cases, hand-painted with a field of flowers with a soccer ball sitting against a tree.
"Aw, cute..." Raine says.
"Sweet," Freya says. "Looks pretty tough, too."
Natsumi looks around for whoever wants to go next. Freya elbows Floyd. "You brought the stuff, right?" she whispers.

Tai has a moment of guilt at not getting anything. It passes though and he simply says, "Sorry. I helped set up at least. I'll get something later. Promise." He does a sly wink, reminiscent of one of Mattea's almost, but definitely less... sultry.

"Always and forever Ca- Freya" Floyd whispers back as he pops to his feet he's is practically beaming as he reveals his presents in a classy hat box and bag is Raine's gift and Freya's is in a classicly wrapped box complete with bow.
He presents Raine's first "For you Raine me and Fox looked high and low for an outfit to reflect both your outer nobility and kindness as well as your inner strength and more kindness weither we did a good job or not I'm sure you'll look great" he declares before presenting Freya with her Box.
"And for you Freya I thought I'd take the chance to share something I love with someone I'd love to get to know better and already hold much admiration and respect for besides Skating is like the most fun thing in the world and has so many sports attached!"

Sam is enjoying the cake and patiently and nervously waits until Floyd is done giving Freya and Raine there gifts. Sam seems to think that she forgot something but it hasn't crossed her mind yet. Sam suddenly remembers when she feels the unwrapped hair clips, what she was suppose to do.
When Raine and Freya are ready Sam will take out the hair clips from her purse. Sam then proceeds to hand Freya the lighting hair clip. Sam will then hand Raine the Rain(e)bow Hair Clip.
"Sorry I was going to wrap them but then I went for a walk in the park,". "Then I was going to pick up some cute wrapping paper and a box,". "But then I ran into Ms. Avalon and completely lost track of time,". "Happy Birthday Raine and Freya I hope you like them," Sam says to Raine and Freya hoping they would like the hair clips.

"I wasn't expecting anything from anyone," Freya tells Tai.
Raine nods in agreement. "You don't have to get us anything."
Raine and Freya take the hairpins from Sam. "Aw, they match!" Freya says. She shoves it sloppily into her hair.
Raine reaches over and adjusts Freya's clip. "Freya... come on, wear it properly."
"Sorry?"
"Thanks, Sam," Raine says as she puts on her own clip. "They're very pretty."
Freya opens her present from Floyd. "Skates, huh? N-'ice.' Get it? Can't wait to break them in! Thanks, Floyd."
"I got you a book about plants!" Katie says, handing Raine a box.
"Thank you, Katie. I'm sure I'll love it."
"It has a lot of pictures, too. Even I was able to understand it! Mostly. And I got Freya some fancy socks."
"Huh... These *are* fancy," Freya admits. "Thanks, Kate."
"I am always complaining about you wearing those things out..." Raine sighs. She looks over at the box from the others. "So... What is this?" She opens the box and gasps in surprise as she pulls out the black, lacy outfit. "Oh, my. This is so... fancy. I can't wear something like this..."
"Of course you can. Even comes with an umbrella. Er, uh... parasol?" Freya corrects herself. "You should try it on now."
"But..."
"Come on, I'm sure everyone wants to see you use the thing they got you," Freya urges.
"B-but changing with a bunch of people around is..." Raine mutters. "B-b-besides, I still need to do... your present," Raine says.
"Well, then hurry up and change! The sooner you do, the sooner you can unveil your big surprise!"
"I, um... Well, OK..." Raine says.
"Don't worry, I'll make sure no one sees you changing," Freya promises.
Raine disappears up the stairs. In a few minutes, she comes back wearing a black, lacy dress that reaches just above her knees, decorated with dozens of ribbons and bows, and long black stockings. She hides her face behind a thin, black parasol, twirling it as she lifts it to reveal a small, black hat that contrasts her bright, blonde hair. "W-well, how do I... look?" she asks. "Is... is it too much? This feels like too much..."

Sam takes one look at Raine and she is in awe at how she looks.
"Raine you look absolutely breath taking,". "The outfit and everything looks a-a-amazing,". "I am at a loss of words for how you look," Sam says in awe of Raine.
Sam can feel her face starting to turn Red and she tries her best to hide the blushing.
Sam is truly in awe of how Raine looks but well it's bad enough with the Silver hair. Sam kinda of doesn't want it to come out that she has a bit of a crush on Raine or girls in general. Sam takes a couple of breaths to try and regain her composure.

Raine, starting to blush, dips her parasol and hides her face again. "E-everyone staring at me like this is..."
"Of course everyone's looking at you, Raine, that's the point of showing off your new outfit," Freya says. "Plus, you're cute."
Fox stares at Floyd's hand for a minute. "...Oh." He slaps him a high-five.
Katie darts over and sneaks in a high-five, too.
Natsumi stares at Raine quietly, then glances over at Freya.
Freya looks back at her. She points at her. "No."
"Huh? ...You don't think I'd look good in that sort of outfit?"
"Oh. Um... maybe?"
Raine clears her throat. "So, um... my present for Freya's kind of... heavy. Fox, could you...?"
"Sure!" He jumps up and follows Raine into another room.
They shortly return carrying a large, wide box between them. They put it down on the floor by Freya, who stares at it wide-eyed. "Uh, Raine? What the heck is this giant thing?"
"Well, um... I haven't been able to get you much of anything the last few years, so... this year I decided to make up for it with something really nice. So I've been working odd jobs and saving up for a few months, and... I hope you like it!"
Freya curiously starts unwrapping it, then stops, completely dumbfounded. "Raine, you didn't. How did you afford this!?"
"I've been saving for a months. Months, Freya."
"You... but, uh... Dad's going to freak out..."
"I already let him know I was doing this. He wasn't happy, but..."
"What is it?" Fox asks.
"It's a new TV," Freya announces.
"So you can watch your sports games..." Raine explains.

Sam blinks a couple of times at the size of the TV.
"Wow that has to be one of the biggest TVs I ever saw," Sam says in amazement.
"And all I got her was some hair clips Sam says just soft enough for those close to her can hear her say it.

You all spend some time hanging out and partying. Raine and Freya hook up the new TV and try it out with a sports movie. "Wow, this is... going to take some getting used to," Freya says.
"I'm glad you like it," Raine says, playing with her parasol. She seems to have gotten used to the outfit now that the attention isn't all on her.
Not long after the movie, Fox says he needs to get home or his mom will be worried. Katie says the same and leaves with him. Natsumi sticks around to help clean up, then gets ready to leave as well. Freya grabs her by the collar and pulls her back. "Did you figure out what I'm mad at you about?"
"You're still mad?" Natsumi squeaks.
"Little bit," Freya admits.
Natsumi stares and thinks. Finally, she shakes her head. "I don't know."
"You never wished my a happy birthday, doofus."
"Oh. Happy birthday!"
"Thanks."

Tai gets home fairly early today, even compared to when usually he heads directly home after-school. His mind isn't really occupied by any one thought, but rather shifts between a slew of them. Between the Otherworld, baseball, art, school, his mom, and Nats-
His patchwork of thought is interrupted when he walks through the door of the house and is greeted by his mother sitting on the sofa. She turns her head to him and utters a, "Welcome home, sweetie."
At first he gives an absented-minded nod. Then he steps inside and closes the door, which creaks in protest. "I thought you had another double today." Tai states this with conviction, as if there could never be an alternative to this reality.
His mother dismisses it with a slight hand-wave. "Oh I did. But I had a silly little fall so they sent me home. Nothing a good night's rest won't fix." She smiles at him assuredly, showing no weakness.
Tai's neutral expression takes a sour turn. "Damn it, Mom. Why the hell do you do this?" The question is loaded and charged with emotion, but not outright aggressive, more exasperated than anything really.
Her smiles fades and a tired look washes over her features. She looks beaten down and broken, like a doll that's seen too much use. "You know I have to work so we can get by honey. Bills don't pay themselves afterall. We've been over this."
Tai walks towards his room, not meeting her eyes. "That's bullshit. I don't care if we live on the damn street and you know it."
She gives him a weak smile. "I'm never going to let that happen, Tai. I know things have been pretty rough for a few years now, but-"
He rolls his eyes as he cuts her off with, "You mean since Dad died, right."
She gives yet another tired sigh, her body seeming frail even as she breathes. "Yes, Tai. And I'm sorry that we don't see each other or get to talk much anymore, but I'm not going to let us live on the street and I'm not making you get a job, honey." She turns away from him to stare at the wall where a TV would normally go.
Tai shakes his head at no one. "Whatever. Just... please stop over-working yourself. We'll be fine if you take a day off now and then..."
Tai retreats to his room, exhausted. He lays on his bed, unable to sleep. So he draws. He draws people he cares about, whether he'd let them know or not. He draws those he's become friends and more with. He draws his mom. Not the tired shell of a woman downstairs, but the one he remembers from before his father died. And he draws his dad. Every feature of his father burned into his mind down to his wrinkles.
After that, late into the night, Tai passes out, his sketchbook left open on his chest.
