Alex
You follow Katie into the forest. It's really dim in here... Which actually makes it easier to follow Katie. She's using a flashlight and crawling around on all fours off of the beaten path. She notices you following her and waves. "Hi! Wanna help me follow Mr. Raccoon?"

"I named him that because he's a raccoon," Katie explains.

Your comment sails right over Katie's head and into the next county. So, you proceed to follow Katie following the raccoon. She's really fast, even while tracking. She stops to double-check the trail every so often, but generally keeps up a good pace. She kind of starts to look like a bloodhound in the gloomy woods. Finally, she holds up a hand to signal you to stop. She shines her flashlight up a nearby tree. Just as promised, there's a raccoon clinging to a large branch.
"Hi, Mr. Raccoon!" Katie calls up. "It's me again!"
An annoyed raccoon chitters angrily down at you.

"Now we make notes, of course!" Katie says. She whips out a notebook with a map of the forest inside. She makes a few marks that look like a drawing of the trail you followed to get here. She includes a few time estimates. Even marks down suspected feeding spots and whatnot. "What did you eat today, Mr. Raccoon...? Here, hold the flashlight a minute."
She sits down and starts making a sketch of the beast. It's... bad. Basically a stick figure.

Alex realises that this raccoon isnt a pet. rather just a normal wild raccoon. "Arn't Raccoons Scavengers? So I bet he was probably digging in a trashcan for something edible"

"Mr. Raccoon? Nah. He sticks to the forest. I think he was eating some berries from that bush over there. Now, Snuggles and Roberta are a bit braver. They sometimes head out and grab some trash out of the trash cans by the picnic tables and stuff. And Billy will go out as far as 2 blocks. I think. Maybe a bit further. It's hard to track them in an urban environment," Katie says.

"No matter how far they go they will always know their way home. Kinda poetic. Many animals know this as well. Like Ants for example. they can travel far from the nest. but they will always find their way back" Alex says

"Ew, bugs!" Katie spits out without any thought. She sticks her tongue out. "Who cares if a bunch of gross, icky ants find their way back home!?"

"I was just using it as an example. Didn't mean to offend is all." Alex says with hands up "Plus. ants can be food for many other animals. I even hesrd some raccoon species eat ants. they are like the tic tacs of the dirt"

Katie retches. "T-tic... tacs..." she repeats, looking sick. She shakes her head "Ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew...! Don't make me think about eating bugs! That's so gross... I hate bugs."

"....Anyway. It seems you enjoy watching animals, I do have a question for you. Would you watch a bug do it's own thing if you had the chance? Stuff like seeing what it eats, Mating Habits, Behavior, stuff like that, basically what you are doing right now, but with a Bug instead of a raccoon, Because Bugs are animals just as the Raccoons are. Don't you think? I mean it in a way where Bugs are as important for the wild as Animals are." Alex almost goes on a Rant "I was like you for a while, Hating all bugs, But an old friend convinced me to keep a Colony of ants and I sorta Grew attached and all. I grew to enjoy watching them Wonder around, Groom themselves and each-other, Seeing them Take the Food I give them is even interesting because of their Eating Habits." Alex Stops her Rant after realizing she may have said too much.

"Y-you...!" Katie leans towards you and whispers. "You're one of them..."
She takes a few steps back, then starts bounding off like a frightened deer. Leaving you out in the woods in the dark without her flashlight. By the time you make your way back out, Katie is long gone.
You don't think she was actually mad or anything, so much as really freaked out...
Alex and Katie reached relationship rank 2!
