You approach Tia. She doesn't seem to notice you. At all. She's completely entranced watching the squirrels. You can hear a soft hissing noise coming from her throat.

Sam (Evening)
Tia almost falls out of her chair when you speak to her. She dusts herself off. "Catch the delicious squirrels? Why would I do that?" Tia asks. "And no. It's cold. I do not like cold. It makes me sleepy..."
Leia (Night)
You arrive at the park just in time to see Natsumi disappearing into the woods on her way towards the spot. By the time you catch up, she's already taken up her usual spot on her favorite rock. She smiles when she sees you, but it seems a bit forced. "Hi... Leia. Um... Nice night, isn't it? The moon's really pretty today..." She laughs nervously. "I, um... Sorry. About dragging you out here. Do you, um... want to start, or should I? Or, um, maybe we can just... sit together for a bit first?"

Leia will sit next to Natsumi, seemingly struggling to decide how close she should sit to her.

Sam is taken a back a bit but more so with Tia's surprise reaction.
"Oh um sorry didn't mean to surprise you like that,". "Oh umm yes I don't like the cold weather either,". "There's not as much fun stuff to do when it's cold,".
"Oh wait no umm there is something I wanted to do,". "I been nervous about it because well it became a huge thing,". "And I was afraid how you might feel towards me,".
Sam takes a couple of moments to collect her thoughts.
"Ms. Tia I am sorry for how I behaved at the beach,". "I am sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable,". "Or if I hurt your feelings in some way".
Sam does her best to look Tia in her eyes despite her nervousness.

Tia cocks her head. "Oh. OK. Why?" Her tongue flicks out and you notice it's forked, like a snake. "You were just scared, right?"
Leia
"Huh...?" Once Leia sits down, Natsumi slides uncomfortably close. "I, uh, thought this would be a good place to talk about that stuff from before. I meant do you have anything to say first, what did you think I... O-oh." Natsumi moves back to where she was, now red herself. "I mean... i-if you... had something else in mind, then I... um... but... maybe... after... we talk."

Leia will go back to being uncomfortably close to Natsumi, putting her head on her friend's shoulders.

"Yeah I was scared,". "I thought you be upset because you were trying to help fight the foe and I nearly had a heart attack,". "Umm you see I have a really big fear when it comes to snakes,".
Sam seems a bit more relaxed around Tia.
"When I was a little girl I got bit by a really poisonous snake,". "I was playing in the back yard,". "A ball rolled into a bush and I went to chase it,". "I didn't notice the snake and it bit me,". "At first the bite was sore, then I couldn't breath,".
"I know the snake didn't do it on purpose,". "And it was just defending it's self,". "But ever since then,". "Every time I see a snake my body just freezes,". "My mind just goes blank,".
Sam seems to realize she's rambling a bit.
"Oh umm I really wanted to let you know you did nothing wrong that day,". "I take all responsibility for placing everyone in danger,". "I was just scared you be mad at me because of it,".

"Oh... Well... Unfortunately, I'm about to ruin it!" Natsumi announces. She takes a deep breath. "OK... Um. I... Well, it's, uh... I hate going into the Otherworld! I'm... terrified of it, OK? I just... really don't wanna go back, so... maybe sometimes I try to find ways to get out of it..." She takes a moment to catch her breath. "It's just, um, after what happened at the beach, and what happened at the beach before that with the spiderweb, and... um... Oh, I guess you were a transfer student, so... you didn't... know, huh...? Um. Well. I kinda... got thrown into the Otherworld before... And I kinda... almost died... if Buttons hadn't saved me. And I spent a lotta time in the hospital after..."
Sam
Tia cocks her head around in the other direction. "Oh... OK? But I don't understand. What were you scared about? There was no snake there. It's too cold for snakes right now. And I'm not a snake. I'm a lamia! I just have a snake tail sometimes. And a human body. Like you! Oh, but I do have fangs when I'm like that." Tia makes a chomping motion. "And I can unhinge my jaw, too!"

Leia looks at Natsumi in the eyes, her own eyes wet, on the verge of tearing up. She hugs Natsumi as tight as she can for a decent period of time, then releases her.
"Tha... Thank you for sharing... It really means everything to me.
You... You don't have to go. You don't have to go at all. Nobody asked us to go. We just... Did. Without thinking about it. But none of us want to go. I like it, cause it makes me forget about reality... My past. I'm not this little girl, scared of everything when I'm in there. Humans scare me more than monsters. I can be special. But the truth?
I found the Otherworld by accident. And now you tell me Buttons forced you to go inside it and it hurt you? And then the lava pit incident where I saved you?
You don't have to go if you don't want to, Natsu-girl. Not at all. You want to know why?
Everyone is talking about the end of the world and that Mercia is a bad guy or whatever. But nobody showed us proof.
I'm ignored everytime I ask why Mercia is our enemy. I saw her thrice and out of those, she saved or help twice. Everybody says she's our enemies, but everything I saw points to the contrary. Are we the bad guys?
There's those Leeches, but maybe we're the one who lured them to a portal. We might be better off not going in that case.
You don't have to go. Like you said to me, we're students. We have a life to live. I feel like a superhero when we're in there, but it's not our responsibility to save a world we have no proof is in danger. Most superheroes are adults! There's not adults among us. And none of the adults will believe us, because "we're young and imaginative". This doesn't mean saving is our duty.
There's too many questions and no answers. Too many statements with no proofs. We don't have to do anything. You do what you want to do Natsu-girl, not what people ask you to do."
Leia then looks at the ground and turns red again.
"And you know what? Maybe the Otherworld is not why I feel like a superhero... Maybe it's you that makes me feel special... I'll always protect you, Natsu-girl. Even if it's against our own friends."

"Leia... I..." Natsumi trails off mid-sentence, then waves her hands frantically. "Wait, wait, wait, no! Um, wait! No, Buttons wasn't dragging me into the Otherworld, I was dragging him along because - well I'll get to that, but... OK, so... I was coming to the woods to... meditate, and then I heard something behind me and I started to turn around then I don't actually remember what happened next but when I woke up I was in the Otherworld. And, um, I was kinda hurt... and then a monster attacked me, and I got hurt more and I had to run and... um... I kinda ran into the Guardian. And the Guardian protected me, but he can't really move, so he couldn't escort me to a portal and I was too hurt to make a run for it and... yeah. So I was stuck in there for a few days... And a lot of people were looking for me, but it was Buttons that did. He thought my disappearance was some occult something, and he started looking into some weird stuff and found an old book with some notes and a Soul Key in it... He wasn't dragging me along, he saved me!" Natsumi pauses to catch her breath after the hurried explanation. "And, uh, the Guardian asked me to scout out some of the other places and check on the other Guardians since he can't move and since he did save me 'n' stuff I have been, but... I guess it's gone really badly, huh?"

Sam then takes a few moments almost like she is considering her next words carefully.
"Tia I am not afraid of you,". "I think it's actually kinda of cute with the whole tongue flicking thing,". "I know your a really nice person and I am glad your even talking to me after how I behaved,".
"But you see I have a phobia of snakes,". "It's not just a simple fear of them,". "It's a much deeper fear,". "More like anything that may remind me of a snake in anyways causes me a lot of stress,". "And that when I saw the snake part of you,". "My mind took over and I barely had any control of my anxiety or fear,".
Sam seems a bit nervous talking about it. More so because she's afraid of turing off Tia.
"Umm if you don't mind me asking,". "Is their something your afraid of?". "Something like that if your close to it?". "That you would freeze?".

Leia seems a bit disappointed, maybe even confused that her attempt at a confession is swept under the rug, but she seems to just try to concentrate on what Natsumi is trying to say.
"Well... I... Hum... I really don't believe in "confronting your fears to cure them", but I think here it's not about fear? You feel like you have a debt to that Guardian, right?
Did you go see him to share all we know now? We can go discuss with him together if you want, maybe it'll do something for you.
I assume their domain is safe, since you are their friend.
Who knows, maybe if you tell them what you just told me, they will free you of your debt?"

We need to figure out what's going on with the Otherworld and all the Guardians so we can start to figure out what to do to start fixing it, and... um... how to... stop Mercia or help Mercia or whatever we need to... Y'know? So... I was actually gonna... ask you to help me. And Buttons. So, um..." Natsumi grabs your hand and clutches it to her chest, staring intently at your face. "Will you? Please?"
