Nora smiles. "She's been a wonderful friend to me. And don't worry- even if I did develop stronger feelings for her or like her in a stronger way, I'm not shallow and stupid like a lot of girls my age. And neither is she. We may tease each other, but neither of us is the type to rush into anything and do something stupid that we end up regretting."
She pauses for moment. "It's mostly just been really nice having a friend my age that's... my equal. That doesn't just want my money or the good graces of my family, or have idiotic fantasies about marrying me and becoming the King of Britain. Alice is intelligent and strong and wonderfully stubborn and doesn't hesitate to tell me off. I don't have any friends like that back home."
She sits down on the couch next to Marin. "That said, I do hope you don't think I've fallen under the Halo Effect or anything. I may be still a girl, but I am quite careful."

You spend a few minutes chatting with Marin until the pie is finished cooking, then a bit longer while it cools. "I do hope if came out alright with the... difficulties. Hm. Tell your aunt I said hi!" Marin says, seeing you off with a wave.

You head down to the first floor. The building seems mostly empty, but a handful of staff are still running around, mostly doing repairs and cleaning. You don't have any trouble making it to Alice's room. You reach out to knock just as the door swings open away from you. Alice starts to step out and jumps in surprise. "Ah! Oh... Nora? You startled me."

"Sorry," Nora says quickly, smiling. "That certainly wasn't my intention. I just wanted to stop by and see if you were still awake, and say goodnight."
She bites her lip, seemingly hesitant, and fidgets with something in her purse. "And... Well... I found this really strange key in my desk after work and it's kinda... glowing. And I don't really know who else to ask about it. Is this something all employees get? Like the wristband? Because it seems... different."

Alice grabs Nora's wrist and pulls her into her room, then stops, steps past her - still holding her wrist - and starts tugging her down the hallway. "This way, quickly. Stay quiet. And close. And low. Cameras."
You get down the hallway, then a small out-of-the-way staircase. Alice continues dragging you down two floors, when you emerge into an underground parking deck, mostly empty but a few cars still here even now. Your escort takes a quick look around to confirm you're alone, then breaks towards one of the fire exits. "OK. I am very curious who left that key for you and why, but it can wait. Right now there's an emergency. It's dangerous, but I need all the help I can get. You in?" She places some kind of small, handheld doohickey on the alarm and cracks open the door. No alarm.

When you get close to the beach, a pair of people get on. You recognize one that was with Alice before, the guy wearing sunglasses at night... The other is a brown-haired upperclassman with an average build. "Nora, this is Tom and Grant. Tom's been helping me out with this stuff from the start, we can trust him. Grant is... a newer recruit, but, well... the easiest way to describe it is he's an expert on the area we're heading. Tom, Grant, Nora's going to be joining us tonight."
"Hello," Grant says.
"Sup?" Tom says. "You ready for this?"

She turns to Alice. "I have no intention of leaving your side, dear. But it would be helpful to know what sort of emergency I'm walking into."

"I'm not entirely sure. It seems that some of our classmates ran into some kind of powerful mons- UMA," Alice says.
"Don't try to act cool for the new girl, just call them monsters," Tom interjects.
"Fine. Some of our classmates were fighting monsters and something happened," Alice says. "Freya was a bit hysterical when she sent out the call, but it sounds like something big showed up, they ran, but Raine was cut off during the escape."
"Powerful monster, huh..." Grant looks out the window. "Hope it wasn't the Earth Beast, or this could get real bad real quick."
