A fierce roar comes from below when Levi takes the soul. Cherfue emerges from the lava and begins crawling her way up the cliff.
The wind and rain subside as Mercia descends from the sky. She pauses to look at Dragon's fading corpse. "Despicable creature." She makes a few arcane marks in the air, and the crystal holding Laura begins to fade. "Cherfue will be here in about 2 minutes. There's a portal just past the stairs you took to reach Dragon's nest. Flee through there. I'll deliver Laura to the hospital. You can pick her up from there."
While she talks, Mercia holds a hand over her chest. She pulls out the light-blue sphere Lamia gave her earlier and offers it back to her.
Tia snatches it, then holds it tenderly. "...I didn't think you'd really give it back."
"I don't break agreements," Mercia says. She holds her hand out to Levi.

"...This isn't mine to give." He looks at Mercia honestly. "I don't have the right to give this to you. This doesn't belong to me. I only have this soul through cold blooded murder." He chokes for a moment. "..." He attempts to pull himself back together in time, holding himself together just barely. "It should be Laura's choice. This belongs to her. I want her to have it. I want her to choose." He's visibly shaking. From exhaustion? Or something else...?

"Fine. Keep the soul. And I'll keep Laura," Mercia says simply. She turns to go reclaim Laura, but freezes when a pair of eyestalks poke over the top of the side. "Tch...!" She retreats into the sky, quickly.
Tia grabs you both by the hand. "We need to run! NOW!" You've never heard her sound panicked before.

Good for you Levi. That bitch has no claim to the soul. If you weren't going to give Laura the soul I was. Come lets get out of here and get Laura to safety.
Tia we know Mercia is in the human world we need to keep Laura safe. Mercia might try to kidnap her and take her behind our backs. Let's talk about it in the morning.
Levi I can take Laura to the hospital and stay with her.

Which portal are you running to? The one Mercia suggested? Or are you going to try to carry the Fire Soul all the way back to Laura at critical health with the Fire Beast chasing you?

Laura's ALL THE WAY at the beginning through 5 caves some filled with monsters and over 4 open bridges.
Mercia's suggested portal is down a staircase.

Oh can't we just give the soul to Tia to hold until we can give it to Laura? Or can't we just give the soul to the fire beast lady and get Laura. Aperently Mercia is scared of snail lady.

There don't seem to be any negative affects to non guardians holding the soul.
We can give Laura the soul in the real world.

But how will we reach Laura in the real world? Will we have enough time to leave the portal through the stairs and somehow make it back to the entrance before angle lady with the soul? Or before the portal closes?
Man after all this we may not even have a chance to save Laura after killing Dragon and sticking it to Mercia.
