Tai (Butts, Mattea, Grant)
"Great! Let's go another round then." Mattea smiles. "Plenty of monsters still crawling around looking for a fight..."
"Yeah. Gotta make sure to keep the escape route secure," Grant says. He points to another group of monsters - 3 golems and 2 moles that have just breached the surface. "That's a good place to start."
"Yep." Buttons slings his shovel behind his back and leans against it to stretch. "Let's go."
As you move towards the monsters, Mattea hangs back a bit and lowers her voice. "Y'know, that thing you were doing gave me an idea... Wanna give it a try?"
FIRST WAVE
VS
SHINY MOLES
Leia (Freya, Natsumi, Kiran)
The less injured crab makes a bold gesture with its claws as if challenging you to attack. Leia throws a ball that bounces from that crab, pulsing red, then to one of the golems, pulsing yellow, to the other golem, black pulse, to the other crab, flashing yellow, to the shattered golem with a grey pulse.
The crab that made the challenge leaps with shocking dexterity, landing on top of the UFO. It raises its claws in fury, pounding away at the shell until it goes crashing to the ground. Leia manages to get a look at the readout on the crab's weaknesses as she's ejected from the blast.
"Wh-what's up with that crab!?" Freya asks.
"Dunno," Kiran says. He flicks his wrist and disappears into a box. Swords appear and stab into it, then the box swings open to reveal the crab. Kiran, from his new perch, rides the crashing UFO down, leaping off into the sand at the last minute. "Ta-dah!" he yells.
"Yeah, cool," Freya says. She throws a bowling ball at the crab-in-a-box.
Natsumi makes a gesture with her hand then holds it out. A magical sigil appears in mid-air and a stream of mildly spooky ghosts shoot from her palm into the crab. Its shell shatters and it collapses with a series of clicking noises.
The other crab walks over and stabs Leia in the foot. It doesn't hurt as much as she expected. A golem walks up and slugs Natsumi in the stomach. She doubles over and starts coughing as she staggers back.
"Hey! Watch where you're swinging, asshole!" Freya yells.
The other golem shudders and sends crystals flying at everyone. Kiran manages to weave through them, flailing his cape dramatically. Natsumi seems to take a bad hit, then you realize it's probably because a few pierced her shadow. The shadow retaliates by clawing at the offending golem, which seems badly injured.
"We... aren't well-suited to fighting these guys..." Natsumi says.
Nora (Alice)
"I seem to remember Alice and the Queen of Hearts having a rather... antagonistic relationship." Alice grins and strokes Nora's cheek. "Besides, I'd rather be the queen of your heart... Sorry. I just couldn't resist. Hm. Queen... Chess pieces... Ah. My favorite was always the the one piece the queen can't emulate. Let's go with Knight."
Sam (Tom)
"Trap... You think?" Tom leans forward a bit and squints. "Yeah, good point. Look at her sandal... I think there might be some web on the floor."
It looks like its straps are broken.
"What to do, what to... Oh." Tom takes out his phone and starts tapping. "I got an idea. If we can just get a connection... Yeah. Weak, but should be enough. I heard the other day that one of the best sounds for waking someone up..."
A cutesy, jingling ringtone starts coming from Raine's pocket. She groans, shifts a bit, then jolts. Her entire body dips then bounces as if she's hanging on an elastic rope. She tries to move her arms, uselessly, then starts looking around and squinting into the darkness. "...Hello? Is someone there? I can't see with this light in my eyes..."
"It's Tom and Sam," Tom says.
"Oh! Hello. I'd come greet you, but it seems I'm a bit tied up at the moment..." Raine lets out a soft laugh. "I'm fine, don't worry... So please don't try to come in. Are you doing better now, Sam?"

"Well besides putting you in such mortal danger,". "All because I had a major anxiety attack and couldn't control myself when faced with my greatest fear,". "Oh and making Tia and Freya worry for no reason,". "Yeah I am doing good," Sam says to Raine.
"Raine I am so sorry about all of this,". "I am sorry you had to do this,". "I am sorry for putting you in such danger,". "Oh I got something to show you once you get close enough,". "I made new armor," Sam says to Raine.
Sam is then struck by an idea.
"Raine I have an idea,". "I may have a way to get you untangled,". "But I need you to guide me,". "Remember that move I do where I can make my blade turn into petals,". "Well I can use that to cut off the thing that has you binded at the moment,". "But I need your help so I don't cut you or whatever your balancing on,". "Tell me when your ready tp go," Sam calls out to Raine.
"Unless do you have any ideas Tom,". "I am certainly up for any suggestions you have," Sam asks Tom.

"We can do this! We're one down already... It'll just get easier... I only got hit once for now too! You concentrate on getting back to your feet. I'll get back to attacking once you're all fine."
Leia will use Smiling Shrine on Natsumi.
Smiling Shrine: Summons a giant grinning sentient shrine in front of an ally, which will block every attacks for that ally. Stays active until it got hit 3 times. Launches debris towards the attacker everytime it's attacked, which causes heavy dark damage.

Tai (Butts, Mattea, Grant)
Mattea flicks her fan and sends a bolt of wind into one of the golems. Thorny vines emerge from the tip of Tai's pistols and he whips the first mole he can reach. It seems extremely effective as the mole scrambles to dive under the ground.
Grant hefts his hammer and smashes the other mole in the head. It disappears under ground as well.
The first mole pops out behind Tai and slashes his ankle. Tai feels slower and less maneuverable. The other mole pops up behind Buttons, who hops forward and dodges the slash.
One of the golems shines, then bursts, raining shards of crystal on all of you. Another walks up and punches Grant in the stomach, which is difficult considering his massive size. His armor clangs from the blow. The last golem raises his fist and punches the ground, sending rock shards into Tai and Mattea.
Buttons releases one of his wisps and it floats into Tai. He still feels slow from the ankle injury, but also much stronger.
"Alright, Tai! Now's the time!" Mattea calls out. "Just start shooting beside me and don't stop 'til those things are empty!"
Leia (Freya, Natsumi, Kiran)
Leia drops a cheerful-looking shrine in front of Natsumi just in time. The injured golem punches it and shards fly back into its face and shred it. The monster collapses in a heap.
Natsumi fires a stream of spirits at the other golem. Her shadow attacks it from behind with a slash. The injured golem turns to punch Leia. She tries to move but gets hit squarely in the stomach, leaving her winded and struggling to breathe.
Freya launches a tennis ball at the golem and it begins to collapse on itself. "She means... it's a bad matchup..." Freya says. "But it looks like we've got them now...!"
"Yep!" Kiran announces. He pulls out a bouquet and tosses it into the air. It bursts apart into an array of small items including a stapler, scissors, and a novelty mug. It rains down on the crab.
The crab leaps at Kiran and starts stabbing at him. Freya takes the chance to run up and punt the crab into the air. As it drops back down, a laser blast shreds through it. Up on the cliff you see the sniper pump their arm excitedly. The spotter just shakes their head.

"We got 'em!" Kiran cheers.
"Yeah..." Freya dusts herself off, then takes a fighting stance. "No time for a rest, though. Here come more."
A group of four worms emerge all around you and begin attacking.
SECOND SQUAD

FOUR WORMS
Nora (Alice)
You head around the corner and the four all whip around to look at you. The one with the scimitars and the one with the shield level their weapons at you, then lower them. The one with the club has it casually slung over their shoulder and raises their free hand in greeting. "Oh, hey Alice. Glad to see you up and about again."
Battleaxe slams the head into the ground and leans on it as they look at you. "Alice, huh. So I guess that would make you... Mattea?"
Sam (Tom)
"Sam, wait!" Raine says. "I can get out of this thread thing myself. Pretty easily, really... I think that monster left me tied up really loose so I wouldn't struggle?" She points a foot at the hole under her. "I could swing a bit and land on the ground, but... the floor is covered in webs... Really sticky ones. Last time I was able to sacrifice my shoe to get out, but, uh..." She flaps her feet as if shrugging.
"What if we made a bridge?" Tom suggests. "Plenty of rocks you could hop across."
"That... might work," Raine says. "Assuming I don't screw it up... and the thing that made the web isn't close..."
"OK, any other ideas?"
Raine looks down again. "Well... How about I just drop down the hole and try to meet up with you at the bottom? It's not solid lava - magma? - whatever it is, I see some places that look safe to walk. Do you think you could find a way down?"

Nora shakes her head and clicks her teeth in disapproval. "My, my... Poor assumptions on top of poor fashion sense. Oh, in this world, I suppose that would be more of a lack of creativity than fashion sense. I am most certainly not Mattea. And since you clearly don't know who I am, you can call me Malatyne. Would you like some help cleaning things up here, hm?"

Leia runs to a worm without looking, stickinga scroll on it, which will copy the worm and make it friendly.
Enemy Scroll: Leia puts a scroll on an enemy. An afterimage of that enemy will join the party for the rest of the battle or until it is defeated. In the case of bosses, the afterimage is significantly weaker. The afterimages are not player-controlled. Only one Enemy Scroll per battle. [Natsumi 4]

"Umm whatever you guys think is easier,". "But Raine before we go do you have your key?". "I would feel better about you dropping down a hole if you had your key,". "If worse comes to worse could you borrow mine since it would be easier for me to climb in my regular cloths then you to fall down a hole without one?" Sam asks.
