You walk out of the portal into a small, dimly lit room. Several vault-like hatches line one of the walls. Another wall is dedicated to several creepy tools. One has a large window - no one is visible on the other side. And the last just has a door. The portal Tai walked through is sitting next to the door. It shows a picture of a church.
A pair of tables are the only other notable thing in the room. One of them has a half-dissected body. The other is empty.

"Well fuck, that asshole better not be here. This place is creepy as fuck." Tai, thankful noone can see that he's somewhat shaken by the atmosphere, decides to open the hatches and check if there's anything in them. He's kind of slow and nervous about it.

You open the first hatch. It's a dead body on a sliding tray. He looks pretty unimportant.
There's 11 more hatches. This can't be a very large hospital.

Tai tries a few more latches. Empty, boring guy, empty, empty - oh, wait, a quarter. The next one that he opens contains a beautiful young woman. White blouse, purple dress, leather boots, brown apron, and a yellow ascot. Brilliant, shoulder-length red hair. And pointed ears. Her hands are folded over her chest, clutching an umbrella. It doesn't look like she's been dead long.

Tai stumbles forward, taking an awkward step and tripping over himself onto the ground. He starts to drag himself forward and try to get back on his feet.

When you drop to the floor, the mysterious assailant lands on top of you. You hear a feminine voice laughing. "I knew you wouldn't check the body! OK, now your turn to try hugging me! But I've gotta warn you, I'm not gonna lose!"
The not-so-dead girl helps you to your feet, then waits expectantly for a hug.

Tai wakes up on that operating table a few minutes later. Everything hurts. Especially his back.
That hug-monster is sitting beside him. "Hey, why did you assume I'm some kind of zombie just because I was hanging out in the morgue?"

He sits up and gets up, stretching and moaning. "Damnit. If you kniw what a Soul Key is then you're probably someone from Newvit, meaning possibly my world. So what the fuck are doing here?"
