You head into the Matriarch's house. An elderly, humanoid woman is sitting at a table, enjoying a cup of tea. "Hello, young men." She narrows her eyes at Paprika. "Young dragon. I saw you helping defend the village earlier. Thank you for the aid."
She's not a spider, though?

P: "Yes! Indeed. I single-handedly repelled the giant rats. It is MY achievement. I fully expect a reward for the help I offered."
M: "Yes, my lady... We..."
P: "MY reward."
Malefio shakes his head and fully expects to receive nothing.

The old woman reaches into her pouch and pulls out a few coins, placing them on Paprika's snout. From your time in the gift shop, you can guess it's enough to buy some candy or something.
She turns from Paprika. "So, travelers, how did you come to this village?"

No matter what the coins are made of, young Paprika assumes it's gold. She runs around the room like an excited dog, sometimes rolling on the coins. While she's busy, Malefio takes his chance.
"I crashed my spa... my magic flying vehicule in a volcanic area. Met an entity called Nyl. Asked me to find 2 portals. 2 specific portals in fact. The first one I found is the one that leads here.
Thing is I have no idea what Nyl's intention are. Didn't take me long to learn that some dark source of energy was causing monsters to attack you.
Wether this is what she's seeking or not, I want to destroy it. Wether you're good or evil, nothing good comes out of someone controlling dark energy.

But... we've sent warriors to investigate the portal. We can't get close. It's warded by a magic unfamiliar to me. I believe it may be the work of a demon..."
