Welcome to Demon Tower!
In this expansive world made for you to explore, there are many guilds. Well, there are four guilds. Right now anyway. There are four guilds that hold great power and sway in the world. You, as a tactician, are expected to work for these guilds, managing the guild members you are put in charge of. Let's actually get into the details of what you do as a tactician before we do much else.
While tacticians are capable of acting and aiding in battle on their own without help, their real strength is in their leadership abilities. The NPCs you encounter could be recruitable as guild members and you can give them commands. While it's fine to have them travel with you as you explore the world and perform your duties, you can also give these NPCs roles and jobs to perform without you present. Guarding locations, retrieving items, even fighting specific enemies. It's your job to manage all these things. NPCs that officially join you even change their appearance to fit your guild's theme! You're also expected to carry out missions given to you by your guild leaders.
Now, you can choose to take it a step further and even work as a guild leader yourself! This is a bit more work. You'll not only have to manage your guild members, but your base as well. On the bright side, you won't have to follow commands or missions given to you. You'll be the one issuing missions and commands! You will, however, start with less NPCs than you would joining a pre-made guild. Keep in mind you can join another player's guild if you want too.
Keep in mind that the world is dangerous and your allies can die. If your NPCs die, they will not recover. They are lost forever. But you are special. If you are defeated in battle, you will receive severe injury and may be incapable of battling, but you will not fully die.
Now that we've got all that down, let's get into deciding a guild! Here are your options!
Guild of Order
Mission: Uphold the law, protect the citizens, and punish criminals.
Theme: Knights
Location: Plains Area
Symbol: Sword and Balance
Leader: Lilliana
The Guild of Order is the largest and most popular guild of the main four. It's also one of the oldest guilds. It holds laws and tradition close, explaining its knight themes and use of traditional weapons combined with modern technology. Joining this guild will mostly entail hunting criminals and performing daily patrols as well as Shadow Beast hunts.
Grand Library
Mission: Gather information and store it within the Grand Library.
Theme: Scholars
Location: Ocean Area
Symbol: Open Book and Pen
Leader: Lawrence
The Grand Library was established with the goal of collecting information on everything in the world and providing it publicly to advance the world’s knowledge and promote innovation. This guild has a particular interest in the Demon Tower and the Shadow Beasts, so expect to see a lot of those if you join.
Silver Serpent
Mission: If you've got the gold, we'll do what's necessary.
Theme: Thieves
Location: Stormy Area
Symbol: Silver Snake
Leader: Syak
The Silver Serpent’s origin is unknown. They simply formed together one day. They work in secret with bases throughout the world, but the largest hidden base is within a bar in the Stormy Area. The Silver Serpents are mercenaries, assassins, and thieves. As long as you're paying them, they'll do whatever you ask. Expect to clash with other players and guilds if you join.
Dragon’s Hoard
Mission: Explore ruins and uncharted areas for treasure and artifacts!
Theme: Dragons
Location: Volcano Area
Symbol: Dragon Wrapped Around Treasure Chest
Leader: Frex
The Dragon’s Hoard is a more recent addition. Led by a dragon that created the guild on his own, those that join tend to be thrill seekers and adventurers with hopes of fame and grandeur. Those that work for the dragon often bring him treasure and artifacts they've found in exchange for power, knowledge, or fortune. Expect to explore many unknown areas if you join this guild.
Now that you've got a feel for the guilds, it's time to make your tactician!
