Toss the manhole cover at the monster and go for it! Up the ladder.

You toss the cover aside and scramble up the ladder, finding yourself in what looks to be a city.
As you look back to see if the monster was following you, you notice it's suddenly disappeared. You also notice the sound of sirens in the background. A massive, bloody, dead ferret beast lies dead in the intersection along with multiple destroyed cop cars and dead policemen. It looks like there was quite the demon incident here...
The police shortly show up, popping out of their cars and pointing their guns at you. "Put your hands in the air and slowly put down any weapons you're carrying!"
"Holy shit, Greg, look at that!"
"Don't talk, newbie." The more experienced officer looks kind of annoyed at the rookie.
