Welcome to the Dungeon
You step off the boat, onto an island shrouded in the darkness of a thousand swirling clouds. A large tower stands at the center, an entrance into the deepest, darkest dungeon that spans hundreds of miles deep into the ground. You expected to find others here as well, but it seems nearly abandoned. Old, decrepit houses and huts fill the foggy seaside pier. You look back to the living crew members at your side. It seems only those of you that made the journey on this boat remain. And already the vessel has taken off, back to the mainland.
Exploring further, you make your way toward the dungeon entrance. A hooded figure stands before you all.
"Hello there. Fresh faces I see. Just off the boat?" The creature snickers to itself. "It's a pleasure to meet you all. But before I can assist you any further, I require that you sign the contract. Nothing special. Just a simple agreement."
You take a look at the glowing paper the hooded creature offers you. It's written in a language you can't comprehend. But the places you're meant to sign are clear. A red quill awaits you, floating by the contract.
"And if you're too afraid to sign the contract, I suppose you can try to swim your way back home." The hooded figure cackles to itself.
You turn back and look into the fog. You briefly consider going back, but as you try to recall your past, you realize you have little memory. It seems whatever this island is, it's blocking what memory you have of the mainland. Seems you don't have many choices left.
Sign Up Sheet
Please keep in mind that for initial sign ups, you will be limited to only two characters. Of course, you may receive more characters later. After all, the expected mortality rate of this game is high. Don't expect to end this journey with the same two characters. Many will die traveling through the dungeon.
Name: (This is your character's name.)
Race: (Your character's race. Human, Elf, Goblin, Sentient Plant, etc.)
Description: (Describe your character's appearance. Pictures are acceptable.)
Abilities: (Describe the inherent abilities your character has. Can they breathe fire? Can they fly? Stronger than average? Keep in mind abilities must be approved. If something is deemed too powerful, I'll ask you to tone it down a bit.)
Inventory: (This is your character's item space. Keep in mind everyone has an inventory limit of ten items. Any more and you'll have to drop things. Every character may start with three items in their inventory. You may choose from the starter items list or you may request special items specific to your character.)
Inventory List
You may choose any of these preapproved items to equip your character with.
Simple Melee Weapon (Swords, Axes, Knives, etc.), Simple Ranged Weapon (Handgun, Bow, Crossbow, etc.), Healing Potion x2, Torch x2, 30ft Rope, Poison Vial x2, Holy Water x2, Empty Bottle x2, Eldritch Idol (An odd effigy with unknown uses), Ancient Text (Written in a long lost language), Lost Technology (A metallic object that does something.), Eerie Gem (A gem with an eerie glow to it. Feels cool to the touch.), Hex Paper (Commonly used to inflict curses on one's enemies. Place on target to inflict unfathomable horror.), Egg (Sure is a large egg. Something's moving around inside.), Bottled Lightning (Open to unleash the wrath of the heavens.), Scroll of Appraisal (Read the incantation and appraise any object! It's that easy!), Thieves' Toolkit (A toolkit filled with assorted items that aid in the disarming of traps and the stealing of treasures. Mainly lockpicks and wirecutters.), Spirit Candle (Often used in seances.), Unknown Pouch (You have no idea where you got this from, but there's something inside it.)
Disclaimer
Expect your characters to die. You can get more later in the game by purchasing new units, but the new characters are randomly generated. Your starting characters are the only two you get to fully customize. Having characters die is a necessary part of this game. Be wary of traps and powerful enemies. Danger lurks around every corner and those unprepared for it will suffer the price.
Progression
Your characters will only get stronger from adventuring in the dungeons. You don't gain levels or new abilities naturally. Instead, you'll have to upgrade your equipment and discover new powers within the dungeon corridors. You will have a base capable of being upgraded, but all this will be better explained within the game.
