"The painting of the first floor is mostly finished. That should make everything a bit more cheerful, I hope."

To this end I will be hosting a stargazing event tomorrow. All are welcome to come and go as they wish." Janean's eyes sparkle above her veil. "Such a once-in-a-lifetime view of the celestial sea, unmuddied by terrestrial pollution, should not be overlooked even in these dire circumstances. It is my hope basking in space's untamed glory will inspire all present."
"And I get to ask you all to enjoy your meal and remember that this facility will explode in 29 more days." AI-c1-e manifests itself and curtsies briefly before disappearing. "Tick, tock."
Francois looks like he wants to say something, then stops himself. Instead, he retreats to his room.
You all start to feel a bit tired and make your way back to your rooms. As usual, Wildcat and zer0 refuse to remove their masks. Wildcat takes her meal out of the cafeteria and downstairs, saying something about working on a few things. zer0 sits around until the others leave.
When you get back to your room, you feel even more tired. You don't even have time to write in your journal as you stagger into bed.
You jolt awake in the middle of a night as a horrendous smashing noise echoes throughout the facility, followed by a hideous, screeching, grinding noise.
"Emergency. Emergency. Fire detected in the vicinity of Lab: Wildcat. Beginning suppression... All residents advised to stand clear... Complete." |

There's a cloud of smoke hovering in the air. Some of the others start trickling out of their rooms while others peek out and some don't even open their doors, but it's hard to make out who in the haze. You manage to make your way down the hall to the stairs and fumble down in a crowd. The smoke clears up as you descend. You can make out Sammy, Janean, Anne, Larissa, The Bulgarian, Texas, and Mikoto.
Mikoto forces her way to the front. "Stay behind me!" she orders as she rounds the corner.
~Ding dong dong ding~
"A body has been discovered in the vicinity of Wildcat's Laboratory."
In front of you, the hallway is lined with puddles shining with an oily sheen. As the lights snap from the dim night lighting back to their usual full brightness, you see a lot of water has pooled from the extinguishers. Some of it stained bright red. A trail of metal scraps leads out from the lab. At the end, sitting partially lodged into the metal of the central wall of the hallway ahead of you, is the centrifuge capsule. A blonde girl is sitting strapped inside, limp. |

Zarv simply punches a wall in frustration. He failed to deliver his promise. He somberly goes up to the corpse and simply kneels next to it and says to it "I am sorry. I have failed you." |

As you kneel down next to the capsule, about to make a speech, you notice the blood on the floor, even as it's being washed off by the water, seems to form a trail. As you examine it, you recoil as you discover the ruined remains of a body, mangled, smashed, and utterly unrecognizable beneath the wreckage. |

Jill, John, Valerie, Calum, and Zack all arrive and join you.
Sammy and Anne are frozen in shock.
Zarv punches the wall. "I am sorry. I have failed you." He wanders down the hall towards the lab, watching the scraps. The Bulgarian watches him for a moment, then follows along.
"Mikoto, she's still breathing. Our body is somewhere else... Texas help me out here, the rest of you there's still a body somewhere," Janean says as she struggles to pull the blonde-haired girl free from the wreckage.
"Hand her here...!" Mikoto says. She tosses the girl over her shoulders and starts making her way to the medical room. Texas and Janean follow after them.
As you search the hall, you hear Larissa scream. "Th... The... There's... body..." You already know what this is about, but The Bulgarian stops.
You find that the blood starts about halfway down the hall. You also find that while there's some smaller metal scraps all along the hall, the biggest scraps appear along with some large scratches halfway down the path.

You already found the body, though? You just followed the blood trail from the body back to where it started?
Zack and Jill both move closer to examine where Larissa was looking. Zack almost falls over and retches while Jill winces, then starts trying to shift the wreckage. "Hey, someone give me a hand here..." she mutters. "Ugh... Heavy."
"Nobody touch the body. I am going to see if Wildcat, zer0, and Francois are in their rooms. He walks over to Sammy and Anne. "One of you, please accompany me."
"Uh... Yeah, sure," Sammy says. "Come on, Anne."
She nods, and the three jog back upstairs.
"Hm..." The Bulgarian ignores them and heads past you into Wildcat's Lab. |

You head into Wildcat's lab. The place is a wreck. The door is gone. Pools of water everywhere, some stained in strange colors. There's scorch marks all over the room, but the bookcase is completely burnt. The simulator seems to be ruined, as well, but at a glance you can't tell if it's from fire or water.
The centrifuge... is mostly out in the hallway. The central gear shaft is all that remains in one piece - mostly, plenty of chunks are scattered nearby.

You do a cursory glance around the room for anything obviously out of place. You find Wildcat's helmet and zer0's mask sitting on the book table. |

You examine the mask. It looks exactly like you remember, a cute bunny design on the outside. With it turned off and the mouth and whatnot not moving, it looks like any other mask. On the inside, you find a complex array of sensors and cameras and carefully adjusted straps. There's a small power switch hidden on the side.
While you work, Jill stands near the door, observing everyone. Valerie goes to work examining one of the puddles, and The Bulgarian looks at the metal scraps.
