You examine the helmet. It looks like a standard pilot helmet from the outside. Hard, solid. The visor is meticulously cleaned, if still a bit damp from the extinguisher going off earlier. You check inside the helmet for anything useful. It's well-padded and worn. There's a few loose blonde hairs, but nothing else catches your attention. |

Im gonna pocket Zer0's mask. Both for the fact that it could be evidence and so I could give it to her later. Take a look at the sim that the victim was found in. See if there are signs of tampering other then the obvious |

You head back into the hallway and find that some of the others have used a telescope and its stand to dislodge the pod from the wall. Larissa and John and quietly observing the body that was hidden trapped under it. Valerie is standing a short distance away, looking sick. You hear the sound of someone else gagging and running down the hall.
You're going to need to get around them to investigate the pod that's now sitting a short distance away. |

While you watch, the others dislodge the pod successfully and investigate the corpse underneath. Your chance to investigate gets cut off by the intercom.

"Attention. All participants are required to proceed to the central chamber immediately... Failure to comply within 2 minutes will result in summary removal from the program and the station, so get moving!"
The Bulgarian and the rest in Wildcat's Lab behind you throw open the door and come walking your way - briskly, definitely not worried in the least. Jogging. Just gotta be jogging.
As you arrive in the central chamber with seconds to spare, you find the others all trickling in from different directions. Texas is the last to arrive, the unconscious girl slung over one shoulder. Valerie is supporting a groggy, half-asleep Jill on one shoulder. Everyone waits to see what will happen next. |

It's your turn on guard duty when Wildcat begins to stir. She lets out a soft groan and rolls over in the bed. Her eyes flutter open as she stares at you and your partner, Jill. She doesn't say anything. Neither does Jill. |

Wildcat is silent for a moment, then rolls out of bed and lunges at you while swinging with a wild punch. She stumbles over the blanket and falls to the floor.
AI-1c-e's hologram appears. "Aw, looks like someone's all tuckered out."
"I'll go get some rope from Texas' lab," Jill says. "Make sure she behaves while I'm gone." |

It's not particularly hard to subdue the badly injured and dazed Wildcat. She ignores your advice and keeps thrashing and lashing out at you. She manages to kick you, kind of? It's not even enough for you to hardly notice the blow. Before long, Jill returns with a pair of lassos from the bounty hunting lab. "She's really still this energetic, huh? Whatever. Hold on, I think I know how to do this..."
You've got more than a little bit of experience with ropes and knots from some of your escapes. Jill manages to do an OK job hogtying her, but you make a few corrections. You'd still be able to escape, but a pilot? Wildcat's not going anywhere.
The speaker chimes on. "Diiiiing-dong, ding-dongs," AI-1c-e taunts. "Sleeping Beauty's awake. You've got 15 minutes until the execution, so ask your stupid questions. |

Wildcat stops struggling. She giggles quietly. A few of the others start to arrive at the door, looking in at you. Then Wildcat starts laughing harder. Soon most of the others arrive. You notice the only two missing are Zack and The Bulgarian.
"Why not? I want to live, dammit. You idiots don't get the situation you're in yet, do you?" Wildcat asks. "None of you have the balls to make a move. You wasted, what, a few days waiting for me to wake up just so you could ask that stupid question? You're all going to die up here, just watching that little timer tick down to boom. At least I don't have to waste my time sitting around, pretending to be all buddy-buddy, and waiting to die with the rest of you."
"You're a meanie!" Anne Jean yells.
"And a murderer..." Francois mutters.
"So you did it because you wanted to escape, OK." Texas stoops down to Wildcat's level. "So, why zer0?"
"Because she was weak," Wildcat spits with a smirk. "It was easy. All I had to do was offer to let her try the 'fun ride.' She was still treating this like a fucking game. Have you all figured it out yet?"
A silence hangs over everyone. |
