Dan's Thread

Jill, John, Valerie, Calum, and Zack all arrive and join you.

Sammy and Anne are frozen in shock.

Zarv punches the wall. "I am sorry. I have failed you." He wanders down the hall towards the lab, watching the scraps. The Bulgarian watches him for a moment, then follows along.

"Mikoto, she's still breathing. Our body is somewhere else... Texas help me out here, the rest of you there's still a body somewhere," Janean says as she struggles to pull a blonde-haired girl free from the wreckage.

"Hand her here...!" Mikoto says. She tosses the girl over her shoulders and starts making her way to the medical room. You and Texas follow after her.

As you go, you hear Larissa scream. "Th... The... There's... body..."

When you reach the first aid room, Texas grabs the door while Mikoto runs in and drops Wildcat in the bed. You grab some disinfectant and bandages from the supplies and start tending to the bleeding.

Mikoto goes rummaging through the controlled medicine. "AI, we need, uh... morphine, probably?"

"Scanning patient... calculating ideal treatment..." A series of clicks register through the system before three syringes are released. "Please administer over a 10 minute cycle starting with the green label."

Texas adjusts his hat as he thinks. "Someone oughta keep an eye on her. Could be whoever tried to kill 'er might try 'n' finish the job. Don't worry, I already got me a taser and spray. I can handle stickin' 'er, too, if you two wanna go help keep the others under wraps."

You turn to leave.

"Wildcat? What makes you so sure this is Wildcat?" Mikoto asks.

"Looks about right t' me," Texas says.

"OK, but what about zer0? I haven't seen her since dinner..." Mikoto says.

Mikoto takes the drawing and looks at it next to Wildcat. She squints. "This... could be her, maybe... I'm not entirely sure without being able to look at the... corpse, too. But for now, I think we can say this is Wildcat..."

"I don't think we should say anythin' of th' sort. Keep this nice 'n' quiet. The only ones who know fer sure are us three, that crazy AI, and whoever took 'er helmet off in the first place. T'ain't likely, but maybe they'll slip up," Texas says. "Still... I understand why she'd wanna keep 'er identity secret, what with 'er past and maybe bein' a Borne agent, after all."

"...Huh?" Mikoto asks.

"Hm? Oh, just a thought I had. Someone prob'ly had to tamper with our 'buddy' Alice, yeah? Dunno if this makes my theory wrong."

Mikoto leans against one of the beds. "I'm no expert on computers..." she admits.

Texas folds his arms. "Well, I am. Wouldn't be much of a bounty hunter if I weren't. True, they wouldn't have needed someone here if that were the case, but how'd they guarantee it'd happen? A group this thorough wouldn't have left things to chance. That said... True, there's 5 other groups that coulda been the source. No guarantee our traitor is here."

"Traitor?" Mikoto asks. "You don't think someone seriously sabotaged all this?"

Texas shrugs. "Well... Just that our patrons thought it were a possibility."

"Uh, Mikoto," Mikoto says. "But... There's a few things I want to check, sure. We can go together for a while, but I might need to split off for a bit."

"Um... Right..." Mikoto says. You start heading back towards Wildcat's lab. As you pass by Texas', Mikoto stops you. "Hey, wait. I wanted to check this place. Come on."

She drags you into Texas' lab. As you pass down the hallway to it, you spot Larissa running past in the hallway, towards the first aid room.

Inside Texas' lab, Calum looks over at you from the row of paintball guns. "Oh? Greetings, Dame Janean. Dame Mikoto. I see you also thought to investigate the armory."

"Yeah..." Mikoto says. "So? Did you find anything missing?"

"I only just arrived myself," Calum says. "At a glance, everything seems in place save that which Sir Texas told me he was keeping on his person."

"Let's give it a once-over just in case," Mikoto says.

After a bit of searching, the only thing you can't find is a lasso.
