You decide the sewers sound good. You start to fly off before saying so, then stop yourself. "Sewers!" you call back.
"Have fun, make sure you take a bath later!" she calls back.
You remember her mentioning entrances near the docks and that's where the big guy is, so you make your way over there as fast as possible. Which, it turns out, is quite quick. You find the half-orc just starting to leave when you see him, so you dive at him.
"Gah!" he swats at you in surprise, and you backflip out of the way.
"Hi! We're going to explore the sewers today. C'mon, let's go!"
"Ugh... Stinky, small sewers..." he growls. "Easy for you. Small, easily fit. Me, big. Orc, strong sense of smell."
"Wow! I didn't know that." You barely break pace as you head over to one of the big sewer grates. You take a quick look around to make sure no one's looking at you, then you slip between the bars.
"Wait-" he calls behind you. You pause and hear the sound of the cover being pulled off, then slammed back on. While you wait, you decide the bit of light slipping through other entrances isn't good enough, so you brighten up the area so you unleash some dancing lights around you. Much more convenient than human lanterns! Or torches.
"Stay close!" you tell him.
"Mmmph," he groans, hunched over and struggling to move at a quick pace without falling in the water.
But this place is plenty big for you. It's really annoying having to go so, so, so slow for him. But at least all the really giant rats run off when they hear him coming! Loudly. And indelicately. And... giving up any chance of stealth you'd have... It's better than having to punch a bunch of rats because they think they can take you on because you're small. But this could be a problem.
After a few minutes of wandering around - you think, kinda hard to keep track of time down here - there's finally a sign of anything interesting at all right near a big T-shaped intersection. No footprints, no suspicious trash or ritual materials, nothing useful... but finally a bloodstain! If you're doing your math right (and poking your head out of the nearest grate makes you think you are), it's pretty close to the scene of the crime. There's... a lot of blood. Someone de-e-e-e-efinitely died here. And the trail doesn't really seem to go anywhere. Maybe the body got picked up here, or disintegrated, or eaten by a sewer slime, or teleported... or turned into cookies! Witches do that sometimes, and you think you remember something about a coven of evil witches around, too? Not the cult you're chasing, probably, but if you happen to run into clues while you're investigating one, might as well make a note of it!
Well, if you had to guess which way someone would've gone from here after murdering someone, looking at where the blood is... It probably went off to the north! Through the droopy part of the T. You stare down that way, and you see... nothing. Just a tunnel of sewers that seems to continue, unending, gradually fading as it stretches off into the darkness around your lights.
(A) Grab your friend and investigate down that path! (B) Leave your friend here and try sneaking down that way, quiet-like. (C) Actually, enough sewer time. Let's go try something else (pick).

You decide to keep exploring with your friend. You start down the lo-o-o-o-o-o-ong path, and as the lights push the shadows away, you realize it's not as long as you thought. Pretty normal sewer bend section, leading to another junction soon after. You investigate thoroughly, but you don't see any clues at all...
Actually, there's one clue. There aren't any rats here. Anywhere people gather, there's rats. Witch covens, thief guilds, moon cults. All of them leave scraps and stuff that rats will investigate when they have the chance. Unless the people are specifically killing the rats. Which maybe the witches would do for potion ingredients but not the other two. That's two reasons to think they're down here, huh. Or! Sewer cats, dangerous. Particularly big fish. Alpha slimes. Any serious sewer predator.
Yep, plenty of possible explanations. None of which are the reason you're here!
Your partner catches up and looks around. "Smell worse here. Corpse-smell."
"Yep!" you agree. "I found some blood that pro-o-o-o-o-obably came from the body back there."
"Hm." He doesn't say anything else.
"Um, but the trail goes cold here."
"Hm." He nods this time.
You hear a distant splash and both turn to face it immediately. He reaches for his battleaxe and starts to pull it out, only for it to clack against the ceiling. He quickly grabs a knife off his belt instead. When there's no other splash or footsteps or an attack coming, you dart in that direction to investigate. Nope, no signs of whatever that was. And you soon come to another split in the path. So... someone or something saw you and ran off. Didn't wanna fight, presumably, so that's good. Unless they went to warn someone!
You're starting to get annoyed flying around the sewer. Your partner was annoyed a while ago. There's no sign of any thief guild or anything else. Except maybe some witches.
(A) Time to keep exploring! (B) Maybe we should try one of those other places...? (C) Time to go bathe and nap and stuff and get ready for tonight's mission! (D) What about asking one of the other 2? (E) Um... What does the big guy wanna do? Probably go sleep, but you can ask.

You keep exploring the sewers. And exploring, and exploring. Eventually, your lights run out and you have to stay close to your big friend and his torch, which is really annoying. Really, really annoying.
And even with all the exploring you don't find anything. You stay for hours. Probably. You go through 2 torches so that's probably about right. Between your partner's constant grumbling, your lights going out, and all the nothing you're finding, it is... annoying.
There's something here. You know there's something here. You don't know if it's witches or cultists or a really big, sneaky monster or a thieves' guild but there's something here. And you can't find it and it's annoying you. You don't even find any more clues. But it's close and you can feel it so why can't you see it?
Annoyed.
Eventually your partner says he's had enough of the stink and the crawling around without any clues, so he's taking his torches and going to bed. And with no other light source, you're forced to abandon the hunt. For now.
As you get out of the sewers, your partner starts back to the docks. "Others nap. Stinky pixie, go bath first. I river." He doesn't wait for an argument.
Annoyed.
(A) Stinky pixie, go bath (B) Go get some more torches and get back in the sewers (give up resting before the mission) (C) Try to convince one of the others to come with you (give up resting before the mission) (D) Go check out somewhere else (give up resting before the mission)

You are a stinky pixie, and you should take a bath before the mission tonight. It would be really bad if the enemy caught you sneaking because of the smell. So you head back to the inn, find a nice bucket, and head up to your room. After you get cleaned up, you lie down on the pillow and try to sleep.
You are an Undine Witch, and now the guard knows you are a witch. A witch who is now sitting in the local lord's dungeon, accused of murder and conspiracy to blood ritual. A witch who is growing increasingly annoyed by the nearby anti-magic field generator. It was irritating enough with the whole magic suppression thing, but the constant whining sound now that they've turned it on is really getting on your last nerve.
Fortunately, the guards here don't seem to realize that witch hexes aren't quite the same thing as magic. You don't blame them, it's a common misconception. And by stroke of luck - for once - it seems the magic experts have their hands full investigating some other cult.
Less fortunately, you still haven't heard from any of the others. And... they haven't said much to you, but an eyewitness did stop by and confirm they saw you running from the scene of the murder last night. Not great. Especially since the guard didn't buy anything you said to defend yourself. Well, they definitely believe you don't remember anything. But you're still also the last one to have been seen around the victim... who still hasn't been properly identified, given how horribly mutilated they were. And worst of all, when some guards checked your gear, they found a few items with some fresh blood on them. Usually that wouldn't be weird for an adventurer, but given the other circumstances... Yep, really not great!
The guards seem to have a split in their opinion, with a handful thinking you could just be a traumatized witness and the majority thinking you're the killer, and the memory loss was either unrelated or your own doing. Or that another member of the local witch coven locked away your memories to assure you'd be quiet. In a few hours, they're sending someone to remove any enchantments that might be blocking your memory.
Still, the whole witch and blood splatter things don't look great! Especially having just arrived in town. And if this memory restoration ritual doesn't prove your innocence, well... There's a nice set of gallows outside that don't look like they've seen much use, so maybe you could fix that. Not that your case is completely hopeless. Your party might solve the mystery without you and clear your name or something?
The sun will be setting soon, and then a guard shift change, and then the memory ritual... and then... Only two options for how tomorrow morning might go! You prefer the less ropey option.
(A) Time to show them the difference between hexes and spells while we slip out of here (B) Wait for the shift change and head out (C) Wait for the others to contact you (D) Let's just see how this goes for now
