Hi, everyone! Judging by the recent success of our team tournament, I've been inspired to create another Smash tournament in the same vein! Instead of contributing and designing a game or something
While the team tournament was a pretty nice event, I'd like to expand on that idea with a more competitive ruleset! So here we go:
While the team tournament was a pretty nice event, I'd like to expand on that idea with a more competitive ruleset! So here we go:
- Singles (1v1) Tournament
- 3 Stock, 8 minutes, no items, stage list in play
- Sets- best of 3, double elimination bracket (If you lose your set, you're not completely eliminated from the tourney, but rather sent to the Losers' bracket, where you still have a chance to win the entire thing!)
- All characters allowed (If a Mii Fighter is used, ALL Custom Equipment MUST BE REMOVED.), no customs
And here is the Legal Stage List!
STARTERS:
Final Destination / Any Omega
Battlefield
Miiverse
Dream Land (64)
Smashville
Town and City
COUNTERPICKS:
Kongo Jungle 64
Skyloft
Halberd
Lylat Cruise
Pokémon Stadium 2
Castle Siege
Duck Hunt
Pilotwings
Wuhu Island
Suzaku Castle
"How does the stage list work?"
For the first match of a set, each player will choose a STARTER stage they wish to play on. At the beginning of a set, you CANNOT choose a COUNTERPICK stage. The game will randomly decide between which stage to choose (if different), and the players will play on that stage.
If a player loses a match in their set, they are allowed to choose the next stage. The loser can choose from a STARTER or COUNTERPICK stage to play on for the next match.
(NOTE: If you win a match in your set and your opponent chooses the stage for the next match, you will pick RANDOM on the stage select screen. The reason for this is because choosing Random will automatically give the stage priority to any other stage that is chosen asides from Random.)
I plan to hold the first tournament, Vitcon Vengeance 1, on June 21st, and plan to make this a weekly thing. I still haven't firmly decided on a time, but I'm thinking around 8:00 PM CST (I'm willing to be flexible with the tournament time).
ALSO, the tournament brackets will be up on Challonge when all competitors have registered! Challonge is a tournament bracket website, and you guys will be able to access the bracket I'll be making for the tournament. The bracket will be updated in real time and allow you to easily see things like your next opponent and where you currently are. Standings are also recorded on Challonge.
If you guys would like to sign up, please let me know! Comments, questions, and feedback are very much welcome as well!
