Welcome to Steampunk Wars! This is a game where you will be controlling entire armies to accomplish your goal, whatever that may be. First of all, I’d like to go over the rules. Battles are possible between pretty much anyone. You can challenge anybody to a battle with your armies. You can also perform smaller attacks on them such as assassinations on an important character or stealing important resources from them. When any form of attack or battle takes place, the participants must send in plans to the battle moderator. Battle moderators can be anyone that is not involved in the battle. They will take the plans sent by all participants and write out the battle, making sure to include losses and gains. Every in game day is 6 hours of a real day, so every real day is 4 game days. That’s the most basic of the rules.
Units come in four varieties. There’s Ordinary, Special, Elite, and Hero. Ordinary units are your most basic units. They’re infantry units! You get 100 of these every 4 in game days. They work best in large groups and will handle a large amount of battle. Special units are stronger units that are stronger than ordinary units and have better abilities. You get 10 of these every 4 in game days. They will be very useful in large battles. Elite units require a 50 day or more project to get. They’re very strong units that generally cause a ton of destruction on the battlefield. Hero units are the best unit type you can find. Hero units require a 200 or more day project to get. They are the characters that wield legendary power. Heroes will be extremely powerful. Each army’s commander is a hero class unit. The abilities of your units should be described in the army’s troop log (or whatever you decide to name it). New troops must be approved in the approval center by one of the staff members before they’re allowed. That’s all on troops!
Every day, your army will earn 50 Gold every 4 in game days. Gold is important for working on projects and is the main currency of Steampunk Wars. Projects are important things that your army is working on. Projects are nearly everything from research on new weapons and armor to recruiting elites or heroes. They are essential to the growth of your army. Every day used to create a project costs 1 Gold. The payment is all payed before the project is started. General project times are 10 days for a grouping of 250 equipment pieces for units, 20 days for a basic war machine, 20 days for defenses, 30 days for buildings, 50 days for an elite, 200 days for a hero. You can also increase or decrease the days for a better or worse project. There’s a max limit of 6 project slots. Materials are also used in projects, so I’ll explain those next.
Materials are earned through projects. Materials can either be gathered with a basic project or they can come in daily values from certain buildings. Gathering materials does not cost Gold, however. Each material has a specific amount of days required to gather per unit. They also have base costs that are sold by the traveling merchant. A list of materials is written out below with their days it takes to gather and their base costs. Anything that is physically present needs to be made with materials. The amount used also helps determine strength of the created object. Things such as research or training do not normally require materials.
Tin
1 tin/1 day
Being the weakest material, Tin is not often used, but it is one of the few materials capable of flight.
Copper
3 copper/4 days
Stronger than tin, but still not the best. Copper is fire resistant and also will increase the strength of electrical attacks when used in electrical weapons, but it also is vulnerable to electricity. Making machines made out of copper will make them take extra damage from electricity.
Bronze
1 bronze/ 2 days
The next step above copper, Bronze doesn’t have any specific weaknesses or strengths to attacks, but it is heavy. Things made of Bronze will be slower than usual.
Iron
1 iron/4 days
This is a very basic material. It doesn’t contain any strengths or weaknesses.
Steel
1 steel/6 days
Another basic material, but it’s stronger than iron.
Aluminum
1 aluminum/6 days
This material is the same strength as iron and doesn’t carry any strengths or weaknesses to attacks. It is, however, able to fly.
Silver
1 silver/8 days
Silver is a pretty good material and is resistant to all elemental attacks.
Platinum
1 platinum/10 days
A strong material that is bulletproof. Very useful in battle.
Zonite
1 zonite/12 days
A glowing rock that floats in the air. It is about the strength of silver and blocks out elemental attacks.
Titanium
1 titanium/12 days
One of the strongest materials. Titanium is also bulletproof.
Starting armies will have 100 ordinaries and 10 specials to start with. They also get 200 Gold and 5 Iron to start with. An example log is shown below, so just fill one of those out and you’ll be ready to wage war! Others that join later in the game may get extra bonuses when starting because they will be behind.

The last few things I want to go over are the setting. I’ve decided that I’ll let you all decide what the setting is like. I don’t think I’ve ever done this before. It’s up to the players to decide what the past, present, and future of this world is. Even the way the world looks is up to the players. So pretty much, the story, setting, and background is all up to you. I hope you have fun developing this world! It can be nearly anything you want.
