Yokai Watch looks REALLY weird, but it's not bad. This game is based off of it because I thought it would be really fun to bring to Vitcon. So let's start with some information. What is a Yokai? Well, a Yokai is a spirit or ghost. They generally interact with humans or the environment by influencing them with their special ability. They can cause people to feel certain emotions or to become inexplicably lucky. Yokai are normally formed from the death of a living thing. They can also be formed from an object, but that is much rarer. A Yokai will usually represent what it was or why it became a Yokai in some way. Such as a cat Yokai that used to be a cat. However, even though they interact so much with the environment around them, they can't be seen by most people. You can't see them without a Yokai Watch. Yokai Watches are what you use to identify Yokai and to summon them. In order to summon a Yokai, you must first befriend it. Once it deems you worthy of its medal, you can call it at any time. You do, however, summon them right out of whatever it was they were doing. Yokai can be used to battle, but can also be called upon to help with certain things you deal with normally in life. If you forgot something important, maybe a memory Yokai can help. Don't summon Yokai too lightly though. They might get frustrated if you summon them too much and stop helping you. Regarding Yokai battles, Yokai aren't invincible, but they can't die. It is true that eventually, a Yokai will get tired and can't help you fight if they take too much damage in battle, but they will recover if you let them rest. Yokai can also change into stronger forms temporarily by causing one Yokai to fuse with another. Results can vary greatly on what it's like though. The other way to get much more powerful Yokai is to summon a Legendary Yokai for a chance to befriend it. Legendary Yokai can only be summoned if you have a specific combination of Yokai Medals collected. Don't worry though, you won't have to continually check if they're right, you'll know when it's ready to be summoned.
Now then, let's help you start to get set up. This game takes place in the real world. All of the characters live in a city called Geragera city. There are place outside of Geragera city you can visit though. To get more to the point though, somehow, your character has come across a Yokai Watch along with their first Yokai, the one that they are closest to and act as a guide for them to the Yokai world. Now that you have access to this Yokai Watch, you start to notice the many affects they have on the world around you and take to battling the ones causing trouble not only for you, but for the entire city! Of course, the way you and your Yokai interact with your world is up to you. You don't have to be a hero. You can even cause mischief and mess with others. Now just fill out the form below to get a start on your adventure!
