Papyrus and Shulk appear in a zone with a Giant Cactus in the middle. They can't see their opponent appear, but it seems the battle starts anyway.

Kitty and Joel appear first. It seems they are in the dune area, where mobility is reduced.
Ifrit and Shiva appear in the distance shortly after them.
THE MASTER: "THIS IS A REVENGE MATCH! WHO WILL WIN AND MAKE IT TO THE FINAL?"
As everyone receives their equipment, it seems Kitty receives some sunglasses with no actual effect appart from look.

Papyrus casually walks. Fog appears around the giant cactus. The enemy didn't show themselves yet though.
Suddenly, Shulk has a vision of the cactus falling on him.

Shulk Uses Monado Purge to Slice this Cactus
Papyrus Throws a wall of blue bones in the direction of the Cactus
(Monado Purge Literally Removes Spikes(such as Armor spikes and Skin spikes) and Aura effects)

Okay... Here it goes...)
Kitty makes a lot of ice spears appear around her, preventing anyone from approaching. Meanwhile, Joel enters absorption mode, fueling his glass cannon. While absorbing the sand, he absorbs a Firaga from Ifrit, which was destined to Kitty, which causes Joel to release an insane fire attack, completely melting Shiva.
THE MASTER: "WOW, a KO on the first turn? This wasn't expected! Shiva is gone!"
Kitty then throws an icy rock at Ifrit.

A huge explosion occurs next to the cactus, breaking it's base. The fog is replaced by Smoke as Shulk destroy the cactus before it can fall on him.
Papyrus throws some blue bones at the smoke... Nothing happens for a few seconds, but soon enough, the bones are thrown back at Papyrus.
Good thing they were blue, because the skeleton was not moving and avoided damage.
Popple comes out of the smoke, coughing.
